    Breakfast Sandwich
    Lindsey V.

I was looking for a breakfast croissant sandwich so I was excited to come here, but unfortunately they didn't have it on the menu when I went. Not sure if it was out of stock or something. I ended up getting the sausage egg cheddar on an everything bagel and it was gooood! Not even a breakfast sandwich person, I just had a random craving and it definitely satisfied it. My boyfriend got the cinnamon roll and said it was about a 6.5 or 7 out of 10 (mind you we eat a lot of different cinnamon rolls). Anyways, the most important thing I have to say is DO NOT get a muffin here. I'm not that picky with muffins but the banana nut muffin tasted like sticky gluten free cornbread, it was so off putting I couldn't eat it it after the first bite. Not sure if they're all like that but I just wouldn't risk it ever again. If you're looking at this place for coffee, I'm not sure it's the best pick either. They have lots of flavor options including brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, lavender, pumpkin, and white chocolate. I got a lavender white chocolate latte which instead of lavender tasted very flowery... but not like lavender- I love the taste of strong bitter lavender-but it was like an actual flower petal. I couldn't taste the actual coffee at all either. It wasn't nasty, just a weird flavor I didn't expect that almost made it more like a fruity drink than a coffee. I guess my search for great coffee in Harrisonburg must continue!

Cinnamon Bear Bakery & Deli is a great place close to the James Madison University campus for breakfast and lunch sandwiches. We stopped by for breakfast on game day prior to a football game and had wonderful breakfast sandwiches and drinks. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, and being a smaller place is quite cozy. Five stars!

I was in the mood for something sweet so I ventured to check out Cinnamon Bear Bakery & Deli. It's a cute shop located in a shopping complex near Costco and JMU campus. The menu board listed a tasty selection of items such as coffee, wraps, salads, sandwiches and such. I opted for dessert. They had muffins and cookies amongst other items. They even offered gluten free options. I got the peanut butter oatmeal bar and took it to go. It was spectacular! Prices are reasonable and parking was easy in the private lot. Definitely recommend checking it out if you are in the area.

Sooo delish for a breakfast! We read reviews and the menu and decided to stop by for the meal. What a selection! Hubby chose the Breakfast Sandwich on the fresh bagel and I selected the same but on a brioche bun. He really liked his sandwich. The bagel was so light that it did not overpower the egg and bacon filling. My brioche was so perfect. n

Cute place, owner operated. They make their bagels from scratch. Bagel tasted homemade. My husband had the Breakfast Special and he said it tasted like something we would make at home...that is a good thing. Around the room are small plants on shelves with name tags. The owners had their friends give them starter plants and named them after their friends or their children. Makes it seem homey and friendly. Great place to get breakfast, lunch or just a sweet.

The lunch here is so underrated! Just had the avocado turkey wrap with coffee. Also, they move much faster in the afternoon with less people in the store.

Cute little place with excellent bagels. Right next door to the Arboretum, stop for bite before or after you hit the trails.

Did not find the bagels to have much taste. Cinnamon roll was very good heated up. Place was busy but food came out fast.

Ask the Community - Cinnamon Bear Bakery & Deli

Can you order a dozen or 1/2 dozen bagels?

Yes. However since our bagels are made by hand in small batches we would appreciate a heads up the day before you would like.

Does anybody know if there are gluten-free options available at breakfast? Thanks! :)

There used to be. I assume there still is.

I will immediately assume that within awaits a superior Reuben, a potato salad with the peel left on, and possibly a slice of pie made the day before. Anything less, and I mean anything, is unacceptable and very well might ruin the rest of my day. But this was not that. Upon entrance I did have concerns, as it has a contemporary cafe-ish feel. The lighting, decor, etc. might initially lead one to believe they can order some bland panni and continue with their day. Do not be mistaken. This feels like the home of someone's grandma (sidenote: "Lola" is the combination of the two owner's names, Logan and Lauren) with the aroma floating through the air like a "dinner's ready" call from the front porch. There was no hesitation in my order; Reuben and potato salad. The marbled rye, corned beef, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut, with the house made dressing...oh such a work of art. The potato salad, why did I order a small portion?! It was delicious and served by some of the kindest people I have ever encountered in the food industry. If the weather permits, I highly recommend the outdoor seating. And I which I could give insight on the desserts, but alas the sandwich and salad did me in. Next time, next time for sure.

It contains a generous portion of sliced chicken breast on a pillowy soft sub roll laced with Boom-Boom sauce, a mild to very moderately spicy concoction. The onions are grilled, sweet, and a perfect complement to the rest of the sandwich. The combination of freshness and good flavors is superb. The staff here are all extremely friendly and helpful. The parking is plentiful. There are several outdoor tables as well as a couple of indoor ones. All around the Market are the most stunning rolling corn fields, pastures, impossibly green pastures, and majestic mountain vistas. The next afternoon, I popped in for some takeaway brisket, pulled pork, and freshly made cole slaw. Amazing!! The tomato based BBQ pork sauce is perfectly spicy and sweet. The brisket BBQ sauce has a dark rich smoky flavor. The cole slaw is beyond perfection. Crunchy, fresh, and not over-saturated in dressing. A superb take-home and heat up meal. I put the pork and the brisket in a cast iron skillet with a pan as a lid and heated it in the oven for 30 minutes at 325 degrees (always check your internal meat temperatures, of course). The chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing are also delicious. The cake is light and fluffy and the icing is just the perfect sweetness. It is a true pleasure to go to the Sunrise Market & Deli.
