I always like the variety they have here. They even had a gluten-free strawberry shortcake and a coconut cream pie cup. The shortcake was light and fluffy. The coconut cream pie cup was simply divine with the toasted coconut on top. It is a nice set up inside. They have a lot of different options. I wanted to try some other options but they weren't on the list for the day. The presentation for the cupcakes are nice and the Togo containers. Customer service was a little lacking for me but it may have just been the day. The texture of the cupcakes was good. Hadn't been here at this location before. Had gone to old location in yellow house. Seemed to have changed a bit, selection on date I was there was not great for myself, cupcakes looked smaller and didn't taste the same. However I enjoyed what I purchased. I was greeted with a smile and even had discounts on that day. I feel they are reasonably priced. I'm glad to see they're still in business and doing well. Regardless, the flavors were awesome, a great selection. I was disappointed that the website didn't correlate to the shop. The website states that Hummingbird cupcakes make an appearance on thursdays, but the show manager assured me it's Wednesday. Mine was a bit dry, but the flavor was outstanding! My boyfriend claims that the monster cake was one of the best he's ever had in his life! Overall, I'd definitely come back, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way. On my long drive to visit family, I typically gas up and get a snack in Harrisonburg, VA . I've noticed this spot before and finally stopped by last week. I was greeted by a big display of cupcakes. I never did a post-review after my wedding. The cupcakes were delivered to khimaira Farm, Luray, VA as promised on time! I didn't need a cupcake tree as we had our own plates and trays, so I didn't have to bring anything back. We went to Elkton for my fiancé's birthday and I needed a cake. This was the only bakery that I could find. I kept in contact with them starting a few weeks before I actually needed the cake. The guy I always spoke with, never let me forget that they were very busy the same week that I needed my cake and it felt like he always wanted to rush me off the phone, which I understand with a busy company, until after the first time I spoke with him. He continued to tell me how busy they were every time we spoke, which was multiple times, as if my cake was not important. Renee, the owner and cake maker, I believe, was not very responsive, which I also understood due to a busy week. I just felt like my cake was not as important, although it came out great. She couldn't do exactly what I wanted due to the time and their busy schedule but I was still happy with the cake. We were suppose to pick up the cake Saturday but We went on a hike and we had a an emergency which made our hike a lot longer than expected. I did not get to pick up the cake. I had no service on the hike let alone until we got back to the house. I contacted her as soon as we got home which was late, to see what I could do about the cake but did not hear a reply until almost midnight the next night which was Sunday (his birthday) which they are closed. She explains that it was left at the store next door which would have been great to know at least Sunday morning. I appreciate that we were still able to get the cake. We tried thier Chocolate Cheese Cake and it's nothing special. The cupcake is bit dry and dense, maybe they are suppose to be cheesecake in a cup? This is probably one of my most favorite places to get cupcakes from. I'm visiting JMU this weekend, and i was surprised to see this new location open up. I've been to the original one, but I was excited to see a new location open where they are more exposed to the public. This place deserves more publicity. Honestly this may be high praise for some people, but I truly believe the cupcakes made by this business are on par with Georgetown Cupcakes in DC. Since graduating from JMU, I have moved to the northern Virginia, DC area, and I have been to Georgetown Cupcakes multiple times. I feel that the cupcakes here are as good if not better, so The Cupcake Company is truly a HIDDEN GEM. What makes this a great spot is that they always have a different selection everyday of the week! You definitely will not be caught in the moment where you have tried everything unless are here literally here everyday. My favorite by far is the cookies and cream cupcake which they sell everyday. This cupcake is legit crack!! Words cannot explain how good this cupcake is. It utilizes Oreo crumbs so if you like oreos, this is your cupcake. I know that at the older location the cookies and cream was their most popular cupcake, but I am not sure what it is at this location. Phenomenal! We stopped in while traveling home on vacation. I had a sweet tooth and wanted something after we had lunch. They had so many flavors for the day it was hard to choose what to order.
