    Large soup

I've been on a panini kick recently and Capo has some BOMB sandwiches. It's small, it's no-frills, the menu is huge, and it's so good. I had the Orlando panini (I wanted to add fried eggplant to it but either the server or the kitchen forgot, oh well). It was excellent. Very tasty and filling. My husband had the prato panini. We each got side sauces too for dipping as well as cream of tomato soup. I had a small soup and he had a large. The large is an actual bucket. Prices are super reasonable and they don't skimp on ingredients. I'd give a full five stars for food but the missing fried eggplant, an extra drink given to us that we didn't order, and the prato panini taking forever to come out brought the review slightly down. Overall this is a great place and I'm definitely coming back to try more paninis. Excellent.

I am sorry to say that Capo has been open for about two years, and I never took a chance to go there until now. Capo is located in a small strip mall, set way back off of Franklin Avenue. There is ample parking in the lot, shared with three other storefronts. They offer dine-in and have a very (from I could see) busy takeout option. The inside is very casual with beautiful farmhouse decor. I loved all the signs (one of which I attached in a photo here!). A young server greeted us and sat us, followed by bringing us a cold bottle of water and two glasses. Since it was our first time here, we decided to sample some small plates. We ordered the 6-piece bruschetta sampler, which we were able to customize. We opted for 4 savory and 2 sweet versions. The Italian "egg rolls" looked interesting so they became our second plate. To round out our experience we enjoyed the shrimp wrapped in pancetta. THE GROWS: Location, location, location. There is obscure signage from the road so nothing makes it stand out. This is a unique venue that deserves more "splash" in their presence to entice casual drivers-by on Franklin Avenue. The tomatoes on the traditional bruschetta weren't very ripe, leaning more on the orange side. Minor "grow", but worth mentioning. THE GLOWS: One young server handled the whole room, including a table of 6 and other tables of 2-3ppl. She did so with ease and attentiveness (I made sure the tip reflected that). She was so friendly and very patient as we made our selections. We explained it was our first time there and she recommended some items for us. The Italian egg rolls came with a spicy marinara that makes one want to lick the dish they come in! The showstopper was definitely the shrimp wrapped in pancetta, which came served with a sherry cream sauce and covered in melted fresh mozzarella. The shrimp were huge, cooked just right, and the sauce was heavenly. We were able to pay the check via an app and scanning the check. How convenient! At one point, the owner, Paul, made his way to all of the tables and spoke with all customers. Not just the "how's your meal" typical chat, but genuine conversation. He spoke to us about his food industry experience and about another venue he is partnered with (review to follow once I hit THAT spot!). Not sure about anyone else, but when I respect the owner/chef it makes me want to patronize a location even more. Such a cool guy with a great outlook on the current stressors of the industry. I will definitely be back to sample some of their infamous paninis that I am hearing so much about!

We ordered a slice of Grandma pizza, cold antipasto for two, calamari fritti, Caesar salad, pasta alla vodka, shrimp scampi, and chicken Francese. Needless to say, we left with plenty of leftovers. The standout item was the Grandma pizza, which was excellent. The crust, sauce, and overall flavor were exactly what we were hoping for. The other dishes were good, but generally average and not particularly memorable or exceptional. Nothing was bad, but aside from the pizza, nothing really distinguished itself from similar offerings at other local Italian restaurants. The service was personable and friendly. However, it fell short of exemplary. We had to ask several times to have our water glasses refilled. To be fair, it was a very busy evening and our waiter appeared to have his hands full, which likely contributed to the oversight. The décor felt somewhat dated and could benefit from an update. While ambiance isn't everything, it does contribute to the overall dining experience. For us, the biggest drawback is location. At about a 25-minute drive from home, we didn't find the experience compelling enough to justify a return visit. There are simply too many other restaurants on our list that we'd rather try or revisit. While we don't regret giving it a chance, it's probably a one-and-done visit for us.

It pains me to have to write this review but I feel this needs to be addressed…read more I'll start by saying the food was excellent. We had the fried calamari, the Pork Chops Mike, the Chicken Mario (x2), the Veal Mario and the Short ribs, Meatball and sausage special. We also has 4 glasses of wine, seltzer and sodas. We were quite satisfied with our meals and I recommend the food...until... My Uncle finished before the rest of us. A waiter immediately reached over and took his plate. I had moved my plate for my Aunt and husband to taste my dish. The waiter immediately asked if I was finished and took my plate to wrap up. I know, I should have stopped this but I was in shock. Three of us were still eating as they took the bread, cheese and red pepper from the table without asking if we still wanted it. A lot of times people use the bread to sop up the rest of the sauce. This is, after all, an Italian restaurant. One at a time they just started clearing the table as we were eating, reaching over us, even getting between the arms while my son was eating. This is RUDE!!! Filomena's is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant. At this point, being seated, ordering drinks, appetizers, drinks and dinner...we were there less than an hour and fifteen minutes! Clearing plates one by one as people finish makes others feel rushed or self conscious, not exactly hospitable. When we were all finished eating, our waiter, Mike, asked if we wanted dessert. We said, yes...he gave us the menu and as we were getting ready to order there was commotion at the table next to us. Seems, the restaurant told them they had to leave the table. These people had just finished eating!!! When we saw the way the other guests were treated and how we were being rushed, we decided to go somewhere else for dessert. Filomena's is RUDE, CLASSLESS and can't follow basic restaurant etiquette. They are not interested in a customer, they rush you and make you feel unwelcome and unwanted. Our bill was already over $300, we were not going to give Filomena any more of our money, only to be rushed out before we could swallow our food. As for the bill, we were charged $29.00 for the fried calamari which is listed on the menu for $17.00. It came with sauce, which they took away, again without asking. This was not complimentary, we paid for this. Filomena's has good food, but honestly Filomena's has no manners. You will NOT be made to feel like family, you truly are just a dollar sign. The ambiance was rushed and shuttle like. Next,next,next...From the moment we sat down, it felt as though the staff's primary goal was to turn the table over as quickly as possible rather than host a hospitable dining experience, clearing the plates felt aggressive, making the evening feel more like a fast-moving conveyor belt than a proper sit-down dinner. While I understand restaurants have table turns to manage, a meal should still feel like a hospitality experience, not a hurried transaction.

I had to change plans quickly as I looked at the specials they had going on that day wow! We decided to go with the duck and the monkfish main course entrees instead. Life is about making the right choices and this was the best decision I made that day lol! The duck was cooked to perfection soft on the inside crispy on the outside wow! I really like how juicy and fatty the duck was very succulent and delicious yummy. I especially liked the wine sauce on top among taste sweet with a slight tart to it juts the right balance I was impressed. Definitely one of the best duck dishes I've ever had it's a special so I'm not sure if it will be available when you decide to go call ahead would be my suggestion and your best bet. Laslty the side with butter squash was also a delight to eat and treat! Second course was the monkfish which was great as well. It had a slightly Smokey flavor to my pallet and a slight crunch on the outside maybe it was torched or seared not sure. Whatever the case it was a great touch to the dish very tasty and juicy as well. I love the sauce and the sides were great mashed potatoes with broccoli yummy! I highly recommend this place for brunch, lunch, or dinner take your pick. They will not disappoint you at all that's for sure. I'm not sure how this place is in the evening as I've only gone during the day. I hope the chef gets to read this and know his work is appreciated and noticed! The staff and waiters are very accommodating and knowledgeable about the entrees and food in general. Great service and energy I will come again and repeat whenever possible. I liken the music they play in the background it's not too loud and always sets a great tone for the place. The windows bring in great light and the decor is tasteful and elegant gives a bistro vibe to me personally. You might think differently let us know anyway. The first time, I ordered the fried calamari with red pepper sauce for $24. There was far more breading than actual calamari, and the dish was severely lacking in seasoning. After I called to explain my experience, the staff acknowledged that they had received similar complaints about their takeout calamari and invited me back so they could make it right. Today, I stopped in and ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza with sausage and extra cheese. Unfortunately, the experience was no better. The pizza wasn't even heated enough to melt the cheese. The sausage appeared undercooked, wasn't sliced properly, and was served in large chunks. I work on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the city, where a comparable slice costs about $6. Here, I paid $8 for a slice that was bland and lacked flavor. If you're considering dining here, I would recommend spending your hard-earned money elsewhere. Based on my experiences, the food was overpriced, poorly prepared, and simply not worth it.
