I had a very frustrating experience here and will not be returning. I ordered a soup that does not normally contain the ingredient I'm allergic to, so I had no reason to expect an issue. When the soup arrived, I realized it had celery in it, which I am allergic to. I immediately stopped, removed it, and let the waitress know I could not eat it. I asked for a replacement soup and specifically asked if it contained that same ingredient. I was told no. When the bill came, I was charged for both soups--including the one I could not eat due to my allergy. When I pointed this out, the waitress told me it was because I had "already touched it," which was upsetting because I never ate it and made them aware of the allergy issue immediately. I asked for the bill to be corrected, but after waiting quite a while with no resolution, my friend eventually had to go up to the counter to pay. On top of that, I accidentally left my very expensive sunglasses there, and this was the only place I had been. When I called, they said they didn't have them. Between the allergy mishandling, billing issue, and lack of accountability, this was a really disappointing experience. I would not recommend this place. read more

I've been on a panini kick recently and Capo has some BOMB sandwiches. It's small, it's no-frills, the menu is huge, and it's so good. I had the Orlando panini (I wanted to add fried eggplant to it but either the server or the kitchen forgot, oh well). It was excellent. Very tasty and filling. My husband had the prato panini. We each got side sauces too for dipping as well as cream of tomato soup. I had a small soup and he had a large. The large is an actual bucket. Prices are super reasonable and they don't skimp on ingredients. I'd give a full five stars for food but the missing fried eggplant, an extra drink given to us that we didn't order, and the prato panini taking forever to come out brought the review slightly down. Overall this is a great place and I'm definitely coming back to try more paninis. Excellent. read more

I am sorry to say that Capo has been open for about two years, and I never took a chance to go there until now. Capo is located in a small strip mall, set way back off of Franklin Avenue. There is ample parking in the lot, shared with three other storefronts. They offer dine-in and have a very (from I could see) busy takeout option. The inside is very casual with beautiful farmhouse decor. I loved all the signs (one of which I attached in a photo here!). A young server greeted us and sat us, followed by bringing us a cold bottle of water and two glasses. Since it was our first time here, we decided to sample some small plates. We ordered the 6-piece bruschetta sampler, which we were able to customize. We opted for 4 savory and 2 sweet versions. The Italian "egg rolls" looked interesting so they became our second plate. To round out our experience we enjoyed the shrimp wrapped in pancetta. THE GROWS: Location, location, location. There is obscure signage from the road so nothing makes it stand out. This is a unique venue that deserves more "splash" in their presence to entice casual drivers-by on Franklin Avenue. The tomatoes on the traditional bruschetta weren't very ripe, leaning more on the orange side. Minor "grow", but worth mentioning. THE GLOWS: One young server handled the whole room, including a table of 6 and other tables of 2-3ppl. She did so with ease and attentiveness (I made sure the tip reflected that). She was so friendly and very patient as we made our selections. We explained it was our first time there and she recommended some items for us. The Italian egg rolls came with a spicy marinara that makes one want to lick the dish they come in! The showstopper was definitely the shrimp wrapped in pancetta, which came served with a sherry cream sauce and covered in melted fresh mozzarella. The shrimp were huge, cooked just right, and the sauce was heavenly. We were able to pay the check via an app and scanning the check. How convenient! At one point, the owner, Paul, made his way to all of the tables and spoke with all customers. Not just the "how's your meal" typical chat, but genuine conversation. He spoke to us about his food industry experience and about another venue he is partnered with (review to follow once I hit THAT spot!). Not sure about anyone else, but when I respect the owner/chef it makes me want to patronize a location even more. Such a cool guy with a great outlook on the current stressors of the industry. I will definitely be back to sample some of their infamous paninis that I am hearing so much about! read more

I did not like the attitude I got at reception from the side guy who wasn't even taking my order. He had some entitled thing going on. I had never been and was referred by my sister who eats here regularly. So also I was dressed down but the area to order/pay was in the back of the restaurant so I had to walk thru in order to get it done. And I'm permitted to dress down. So anyhow the place was cute right in the beginning of Franklin square. I would even go as far to say they were classy. Intimate I'm talking date night feels and I immediately questioned where I had been all my life. When I got the the back my feelings changed a bit but the food was good. I didn't even plan on eating it but my mother got upset when they had roasted potatoes versus mashed potatoes with the salmon dish. The mashed potatoes probably went better because the sauce mixed up with the veg and it got soggy and she was like just take it home for the kids. The kids had spaghetti with marina sauce that they ate only half of. I brought it to my car to take home and DEE Voured that joint in the driveway. Idk why my mom was complaining the food hit the spot and I know they hahave a little wine list in there. After all of that said I drive past again 3 days later but couldn't bring myself to order because I don't like the way they made me feel when I ordered for my mom. They looked at me a certain way and one of them interjected while I was placing my order and spoke to me in a manner that made me want to turn on my heel. My friend and I went into Capo's last night while our kids were doing a kid's drop off pottery night at Fun Time pottery next door. We had two hours to ourselves and decided to treat ourselves to a child free dinner out! Capo's had a great menu filled with appetizers, salads, paninis and entrees. We split the mini rice balls. They were nice and crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside. We also each had a salad. I had the steak salad and made a couple of substitutions, which they were fine with accommodating. We also each had dessert! My friend had the s'mores brownie and I had the cannoli. Plus cappuccinos for both!! Everything was delicious and service was excellent! We had a great dinner out! I love Capo's! The paninis are similar to a La Bottega but better. The bread is delicious! My favorites are the Cueno, Greco and the Pop but no cheese, add broccoli raab. You can eat in or take out. Inside is similar to most Italian restaurants, dining room is smaller but cozy. Service is always welcoming and they are quick. Disappointed in my lunch today. The best part of a panini is the melted mozzarella cheese. I ordered the Tesla which is supposed to have grilled chicken, Parma ham, mozzarella and arugula. I opened it up to put some balsamic on it and to my surprise there was no mozzarella. The Parma ham was just ok also and I wound up just eating dry grilled chicken with arugula on a roll. The reason I gave 4/5 stars is because we placed an online order for delivery and waited an hour and a half for the food to come. We finally called to check on it and it was never made. They said the order came thru, but never got the notification for it. We had to drive to the store to pick up our food. They did give us a discount on the order which was nice of them. It would be disingenuous for me to say just see my La Bottega, West Hempstead review and apply it here because it doesn't tell the whole story. Although the menus and food is nearly identical it is the warm feeling of being personally seated by the owner and great service that sets it apart. To be honest, this wasn't our first choice - we were going to grab a slice at VIPizza next door because we were in a rush, but there was about 30 kids having a pizza party in there- nope! Luckily ran into barber extraordinaire, Vinny who works next door at the Covert Barber shop who said "Go here!" We didn't even have to name drop to get treated like family. We mentioned we have limited time, Paul the owner/chef that greeted and sat us suggested we stick to the salads/painini and he will make sure we get served fast - he also let our waitress know. We split a bietole salad, one of our favorites with mixed greens, roasted red beets, goat cheese, walnuts, roasted corn, fresh tomatoes, honey dressing - I like that they add endive spears around the perimeter, nice touch. We also split a crab cake panini, a summer special that I never seen in La Bottega. It was good, but only around for the summer if you want to try it. There is a small town and a sense of community (I get from most of the businesses on Covert) that I really like, especially here. Normally I have pretty good experiences here and I definitely like the paninis. However, I ordered a salad with shrimp for pick up and it was a total waste of money. I asked for no tomatoes, which they did not honor. The shrimp was cut in half, so there was actually only three whole shrimp on the 15$ salad- no thanks. There really wasn't much else to the salad as you can see from the photo. A few walnuts and half a handful cheese isn't gonna cut it. Probably won't be ordering again. read more

Great for take out and dining in, has a wide assortment of paninis and salads that could appeal to anybody. It's the go-to place when you don't know what you want to eat. My favorite panini here is the terra, a vegetarian panini with portobello mushroom, zucchini, and peppers. The whole wheat bread is my favorite of their selection. My boyfriend loved his Orlando panini but didn't love the pork one he had recently, it was dry. The service here is great and I can not recommend it enough. The salads are delicious too, I had a grilled chicken one with barley, but it was expensive. I would recommend here for affordable, gigantic paninis that will last you a lunch and dinner. read more

Words can't even describe how much I adore this place. This place has always had a special place in my heart, mainly because it kindled a friendship that will last forever. One day, I asked my two best friends to go to Capo for lunch over the summer. Who knew that it would form a friendship that lasted forever! Ever since we went out to lunch at Capo, we have gone every single week. Although Capo hasn't been open for awhile now, I went today to get takeout for dinner, and it was so great seeing Paul again. It was nice seeing Paul in his element once again doing what he does best. He has always been so welcoming to us and even made fun of us once for not being able to calculate tip!! I placed an order for lasagna caterer I exchanged emails 3 emails w/the restaurant and owner starting October 23 for an order October 28th, I specifically asked for no pork no veal I was told no problem, I was cleared on my order only meat for the lasagna. On the day of the event the order was changed to no meat lasagna, NO ONE contacted me to discuss this change in the order, I was called at 1pm because the order was due for pick up. Still at that point I was not told that the order was changed. I was running around as I had guess coming for the party, at no point was I told that my order was changed without my consent or me being able to make any alternate plans. So I called the owner when I opened the lasagna and found out that there was no MEAT in the lasagna, for which I paid for. When I called to complain he acted as if I was bothering him and said the food is "good enough" and "I gave you a discount 15% off" I do not want a discount I want communication, accountability, I want to get I paid for. I felt so disrespected as a customer, I do not know how he does business, giving the customer whatever he wants not what the customer paid for. It was incredibly embarrassing having my guess with no main course basically snacks. I cannot convey how disgusted I am with the way this turned out. If you cannot fulfill the order in the first place you need to cancel call LEAVE a message something to let the customer know that the order is not going to be make, not just change it to whatever the owner convenience and not inform the customer just take their money and have no regard for any inconvenience. They do not care about the customer. Pasta and tomato sauce, what a joke, I was in the middle of the celebration with no main course It was the worse experience terrible customer service to none existent. There was no communication with me they cooked whatever they wanted and charge me for something I did not want. The owner was disrespectful and could not care less that about the order. This is absolutely without a doubt the worse experience I ever had. I regret not doing it myself, but as most of us who lives in NY and has a job I do not have time it is why I decided on order catering to save time and offer something tasty to my guess instead I had no main course but just snacks. This place is awesome and makes my stomach grumble. The menu has 65 paninis and 25 salads to choose from. I suggest grabbing a menu and stepping aside because the amount of different choices takes some time to ponder. The panini menu is broken into sections for vegetarian, seafood, pork, chicken, and beef. I tried the Pietro panini which consisted of chicken cutlets, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, greens, and herbed mayonnaise on ciabatta. There is one sandwich with roasted pork, broccoli rabe, and fresh mozzarella that I will probably be back to try this week! My sandwich was very nice in size and grilled to toasty, crispy perfection. My mom tried a fried eggplant panini with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes that was simple but also very good. In addition, La Bottega has a small dining section in the back which features a menu that changes every week. I have only ordered panini so far but I am interested in having dinner here sometime. This is the type of place that has a "something for everyone" menu. There is parking on the street but a word for the wise - use the parking lot that houses the neighboring strip instead. read more

Capo ( Now in Franklin square on franklin avenue) Has amazing salads! My friend Jessica and I decided to try it for the first time the other night. She lives in lynbrook and we didn't think they'd deliver there so I picked it up. To our surprise I found out they do deliver to lynbrook and many other towns, which after we ate we realized comes in super handy. We both were over the moon with our salads I had the Bietole with some added ingredients and I don't remember what salad she got but we both loved them! One of the best filling salads we both have had. Staff Super friendly. Owner is the Sweetest! I Ordered another salad today and am sitting here typing this review eating it in all my glory! I also ordered a panini this time around but haven't tried it yet, I can't imagine it being anything but delish! Props to Capo for their yummy food and for coming back from such a tragic fire. I am a huge foodie and this place is one of favorite causal go-to spots. The food is great all around. Quality, preparation and execution. Paul (the owner) keeps the menu interesting with daily specials which cause me to never really even have to take a look at the regular menu. The buffalo calamari is a must, and you cant wrong with any entree selection. If your on a health kick, don't worry - their salads are delicious! The paninis are good as well but i always find myself going all the way with three course meals. I have never had the pizza which I'm sure is good as well. The desserts are homemade and hit the spot. The wine selection is nice and affordable. The back dinning area is quaint and comfortable. The service is on point. Paul takes pride in his restaurant and it follows through throughout the staff. He stays on top of everything making sure guest get the best experience. Niko (i believe his name is) is very accommodating as well. Overall its great food at a great price.
