I absolutely love this place! I've been here many times and to multiple locations but this one is definitely my favorite. I always get the savona panini and it's amazing every single time (grilled chicken, mozzarella, roasted garlic aioli, tomato on ciabatta). The ingredients are fresh and when you dine in, they give you a bread basket and olive oil to start with and that's so good as well. The ambiance in all the restaurants are appealing as well and the waitresses are always very welcoming, sweet, and attentive. Also, when I call for take out, it's usually ready pretty quickly. I've only ever had the savona panini because it's just too good but each time I go, everyone else that I'm with always enjoys their food as well. They have items other than paninis like appetizers, salads, pasta, etc. but I refuse to not get the savona. It was a pick-up order, expected to be ready within 15 mins. Both my co-worker's and my sandwich was ready withing that time. The place is definitely tiny but not bearable if you're within your BMI. Sandwich came out to 11 dollars each, a bit on the pricier side from the usual 8 dollar paninis I've had so the expectation was a bit higher respectively. It was a standard sized panini, had chicken in every bite, cheese was melted correctly, other ingredients didn't taste as fresh as other reviews mentioned, and the bread was a bit too toasted to the point it was slightly annoying to chew - had to be careful or you would cut the roof of your mouth. Their Picante Panini is my all-time favorite lunch sandwich. I have noticed the past two times it seems they are using lettuce instead of spinach type greens. The lettuce does not work in Paninis. It gets very slimy when it is cooked. And just does not taste the same overall in the sandwich. If you subject yourself to eating in the cramped dining room, I think they *secretly* like to torment you even more by putting out crispy BREAD with their EVOO before you eat the giant paninis with -- you guessed it, more bread! *pauses to breathe heavily* I mean, seriously. I like bread.. but I TRY to only eat it when its worth it (French, Fresh or a toasted sesame with cream cheese, lox, capers-- ERRMAGURD ILL STOP). Bottega has good crispy bread. Not the best, but it enters that grey area of bread I'll eat and then complain about how "boofed" I am later. Unless I need to save half for later (not likely), the 'ninis are so BIG that I usually take off the tops of them for an open face experience. I suggest you try the same if you're a gal that gets full quick. I'm usually picking one of the vegetarian options or the savona (chicken). I know folks who go pants on the head crazy for the pippo (prosciutto) and the quattro formaggi (cheese galore). This place has a HUGE menu with about a billion paninis on it. I had the 'Messina' last night (proscuitto, mozzarella, olives, and sun dried tomato paste) in my first trip here, and it was very impressive. I also really enjoyed the toasted bread and olive oil they give you when you sit down - simple and delicious. The only real downside is that the dining room is so tiny that any more than six or seven diners seated make it feel packed. The best one hands down is the venezia. it could possibly be one of the best on their menu. Some of the ingredients include portobello, hearts of palm, and goats cheese. not to be missed. If you're feelin chicken, the Hogans is outstanding if you want grilled chicken.... along with pesto, mozz, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes. Or if chicken cutlet is more your fancy, go for the pietro... with tomato, mozz, greens, and their special herbed mayo which I could swear is laced with drugs of some sort. Their hamburger classica is amazing and so is everything else... just go in and experiment. You will NOT be disappointed. Their soups are also great. namely their pasta fagioli. I have this almost every time I go there. It is hearty and flavorful and everything a pasta fagioli should be. It feels like grandma made it, not some little place in rvc. It has salmon, mesclun greens, wasabi peas, butternut squash, and a citrus vinaigrette. upon first hearing all those things going together it might sound a little weird, but trust me, itll make your eyes roll back in your head. and usually salads won't do that for me. But this one does. They also have special dishes, which are like regular full meals. They take a little longer to prepare, but are well priced and worth the wait. Good Italian style home cookin. You are doing youself a disservice by not trying the sweet pea rissoto with portobello mushrooms and grilled scallops. This dish is an EXPERIENCE! If you're around RVC and want paninis, this is the place to go. There's another place down the road that I won't mention by name that likes to douse their panini breads in flour. This is authentic Italian paninis. The ingredients are fresh, the food is healthy, and the taste is unmatched. I've really not had a better panini anywhere else. They also start you off with fresh, hot bread sliced thinly with olive oil. I'm not a huge pre-meal bread fan but I do like theirs. It's slightly pricey (you can find their menu online and they have a site) but it's worth it. It's a small place to eat inside so you wouldn't want to go there with more than 4 people. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is clean and quiet. Parking is along Merrick on the street or you can park about a half block away in a municipal parking lot on the other side of the street. read more

I used to order lunch from work quite often and I'm not sure why I more recently haven't done so as often. As long as I can remember, I've always had a good experience when it comes to the food and service. The delivery would be prompt and the food would still be warm upon arrival. Every panini I've tried thus far have all tasted great whether they be of chicken, of cured meats, or of steak. After trying almost a dozen different types, I have a solid idea of which ones I would fall back on if I were ever feeling indecisive - the chicken Nycom and the steak Bisteca Funghi. As of recent, I also had a taste of the Hamburger Classica which also proved to be delicious. The extra crunch from the crisp bread is a nice change compared to a soft fluffy bun served with a regular burger. And again, I ordered another Nycom which never fails to disappoint. I ordered ahead of time and the food was hot and ready before I arrived. This location has a lot of street parking on the nearby streets as well as some metered parking lots around the corners. The inside isn't relatively large and spacious; there are enough seats for approximately ten people but don't let that discourage you from sitting in. read more

La Bottega hits the mark again! We devoured the complimentary bread basket of thin crisp slices of Italian bread. I recommend pouring a small pool of olive oil on your plate and drenching the slices in it. It is so incredibly good and addicting. This time around I had the MINORI ($8.75 - slowly roasted suckling pig with tomato bruschetta, provolone cheese and baby arugula on round rustic bread). The pork was tender, juicy, and very good. The melted provolone cheese was creamy, the tomato bruschetta and arugula gave it a fresh and flavorful taste. Every component of the panini worked well to give you a pleasurable experience. I was not disappointed with my second visit. The portions are still very generous and the food was well made and delicious. Overall, it offers good food at a great value. read more

I really wanted to like this place because I love the other La Bottega's that I've been to and I live right near this one. We are vegetarian and have found a lot of options here. But after being a regular customer for several months I had such a terrible customer service experience. We ordered the Bietole salad (which is vegetarian) and a couple of soups. After a few bites of the salad I came upon a piece of chicken. I discarded it thinking it must have just fallen in while things were busy in the kitchen. Then a bite or so later I tasted something very salty with a weird consistency. I began spitting out little pieces of bacon. As a vegetarian this is repulsive (which I'm sure is hard for bacon lovers to understand), but it is even more disturbing that this salad does not even come with chicken and bacon. So I shutter to think how it got in there. Still, the worst part of the experience is how I was treated. I called them after I finished eating the soup, which was really good, and I explained what happened with the salad and said i would come by the next day to be reimbursed. They wanted to bring me a new salad right away, but I declined because I had already eaten and it was almost 9pm. They insisted they needed to see the salad, which really turned me off because as I mentioned, we have been very regular customers (they even know our order when we call). They put me on hold, came back on the phone, argued their point a little bit more, etc. But I brought the salad back the next day. She looked at it and said to me "You ate some." I said of course I ate some. That's how I found out what was in it. There were other customers eating and they could hear every word since the place is so small. When she noticed that she just cut me off and agreed to reimburse me the $9. So they lost our business because of how they handled the situation, but the more I think about how the mystery ingredients go in to my salad, the more I think I'm lucky I will not be eating their food ever again. read more
