My wife and I decided to go to Nicolino's for lunch. We tried to go there twice but they were closed on Sundays (really?) and Mondays. Upon arrival, we were very disappointed, expecting a larger restaurant with pizzas displayed. The place is EXTREMELY small having only one table - an outdoor garden table - and no wait service, and no display of pizzas. We ordered the "bee-sting" which was recommended by the staff. It's not on the menu - it is a "Calabria" with a drizzle of spicy honey which is an extra $2.00. Since there was really no where pleasant to eat, we took the pizza home. Sadly, it was bland and not appetizing. We expected so much better. So sorry we went there. Nicolino's should not call itself a "gourmet eatery." Instead, It should be called "Bland Takeout." We are throwing away the take out menu they gave us because we will never go back. read more

Visit Date: June 29, 2017 I've been meaning to stop in here since I noticed it open. I am not sure but I feel like this little gourmet eatery is a sister place to the Italian Restaurant next door Di Nicola. I could be wrong about this though. I ordered the vegetarian sandwich and to get my protein in I asked for Mozzarella cheese on the sandwich. To my pleasant surprise they added the cheese no charge. I didn't eat all the bread because even though I've finally reached my goal weight and my carbs have increased to maintain my weight I was nervous all the bread and the zucchini on the sandwich was going to be more than the 3 carbs I had left for the day. So I opted to only eat half the bread. The sandwich was pretty good. It had eggplant, arugula, zucchini a balsamic dressing and the cheese. The foccaccia bread made it like a small scale pannini. I would like to see more vegetarian protein options from this place but it seems like a good go to place for a quick fairly healthy bite! read more

Stayed in Hewlett this past week and stopped by Nicolino for lunch before heading into the city one day. It's super close to the train station, which is very convenient. I ordered the calabria pie and it was delicious. Super flavorful, loved all the basil, and...I'm honestly not even a crust guy, but it was so damn good, I ate the whole thing! For everyone complaining that they aren't open Sunday and Monday...working in the restaurant business is different than any other industry. We cater to when other people are off, nights weekends, etc...so it's not outrageous that they are closed on these days, it's normal! Check them out, you won't regret it! read more

Tried the food here last night for the first time. We are really particular about pizza (who isn't in our area?) and the margarita pie was great! Thin, crispy coal oven crust.. very good. We also ordered a meatball sandwich and a beet arugula salad. The meatballs were good. They had run out of rolls so put it in panini bread which was fine. But the salad was not good at all. The chicken breast meat was cold, dry and hard little diced squares that tasted like it was made days in advance and refrigerated. Not fresh, not moist, not warm. The rest of the salad tasted like someone put perfume or cologne on it. Almost like the preparer had perfume or cologne on their hands (or hopefully gloves) when they made it. It went in the garbage and was disappointing. I'd go back for pizza but that's it. read more

I love this place. I walk in, and I hear "The usual?" and I'm happy. The pizza is fantastic (I'm a personal-pan-with-extra-cheese type of gal)! The other day, I treated myself to a pasta dish that Nick put together, and my mom actually guilted me into leaving it behind when I'd gone to visit her after feeding my pizza addiction. She loved it! Nicolino is a treasure, particularly because of the attentive staff that makes sure you feel special and the attention to flavors that your food receives. I'm a fan forever. Ordered out for lunch. The service was fast and friendly. You can see them make the pizza and put it straight into the oven which was very cool. The pizza is fantastic. The meatball sandwich was so-so. The bread was cold and thick and the sauce was not plentiful as would be expected. With that said, the actual meatballs themselves are fantastic.
