I didn't get many photos because I ordered takeout, but I was really impressed with Luigi's. As soon as you walk in, the bar is to the right and the dining room is to the left. It immediately gave me that cozy, old school neighborhood Italian restaurant feel, almost like the set of Cheers. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and packed with people. I ordered the Short Rib Pappardelle and the Grilled Lamb Chops, and both were a 10/10. The pasta was rich and flavorful, and the lamb chops were cooked perfectly. Even my brother, who's a very picky eater, thoroughly enjoyed his meal. The food smelled so incredible on the drive home that I was honestly tempted to pull over and eat it in the car. For takeout, you exit the main entrance and walk around the corner to the back of the building, where they have a separate area serving pizza and other quick bites. When I arrived around 5:30 p.m., the restaurant was bustling, and the takeout counter was lined with orders waiting to be picked up. They also offer outdoor dining. While I was waiting, I noticed the portions being served to diners at the bar, and they definitely don't skimp. The servings are generous, which makes the value even better. Excellent service from the get go, only a few minutes for our reservation to be ready. Ambiance was family friendly and cozy. Very chic and nice table settings. Can be quite romantic as well. We were out celebrating a birthday. Started with the price fixe restaurant week specials, apps were all shared as were the deserts. Entree portions were fairly large and their complimentary focaccia bread was superb especially with the basil pesto dipping sauce. Calamari was very crispy and tender on the inside. Pasta was a very large portion and we probably had too much bread waiting for the pasta. The salad was interesting but the balsamic dressing was amazing - I would have had more of that, the arugula has some kick so the dressing helps tame it. The steak I had was perfectly cooked to my request of medium-rare. The sauce and spinach were fantastic. The polenta seemed, at least to me, a bit on the rich side with the amount of cream. Nonetheless, excellent meal and the restaurant experience was fantastic. As if I didn't mention it as the first line, Service was excellent. Their full menu is even more extensive than I first thought and even though we picked from the price fixe menu they still offered daily specials that were not on any of the menu. What I am reviewing is the Luigi's pizzeria which is adjacent to the Luigi's Restaurant & Bar, the place is an exceptional, highly-rated Italian eatery which offers authentic wood-fired pies it's a premier spot for ordering take-out pizza. The wood-fired pizza is frequently praised as "authentic" and "fire," featuring fantastic thin-crusts and great flavor balance. In terms of price, what they offer is fair. The staff is very attentive, as soon as you get into the door they are there already asking what you are ordering. I've gotten the pizza from the corner of to-go orders from Luigi's regularly but haven't tried their other restaurant food so decided to change that. I forgot my bartender's name but she was an absolute gem & super sweet. I had the meatball which was great & definitely is gigantic- you can take some to-go for sure. We had a very disappointing experience on Mother's Day. We were only allowed to order from a specific menu, which had no pizza or sandwiches. You'd think with a smaller menu, the food would come out quicker, but we had the exact opposite experience. We got our apps 20 minutes after ordering, and then we got our mains 1 hour after that. Then we got our deserts 30 minutes after that. For our 1:15pm reservation, we didn't end up leaving until 4pm. They were pretty busy, but there were a few empty tables by the time we sat down. I was also expecting service to be quicker since the menu was leaner. Also, one of the staffs kept coughing in his hands before handing the food to the guests - so that was pretty off putting. Only reason why I'm giving the restaurant any stars is because of the food. The plates came out hot and everything was delicious and they were very generous with the amount of food. Wow I totally forgot how good this place is. Went to Luigi's last night and ordered the salad and penned with the meatballs. I really want to shout out from the rooftops how good these meatballs are. Made with Kobe Beef, an awesome and memorizing flavor and texture these meatballs are just like you arrived in heaven. The penned was cooked to my liking and the sauce was perfecto. The large salad was full of fresh vegetables and an amazing dressing. Vinny the owner did an excellent job in creating such amazing dishes. I told my hubby I was craving pizza and he made sure I got my fix (as he should ). When we pulled up, I'm not even gonna lie , I was a little taken aback. The restaurant looks NICE, like a little too fancy for me to just grab a slice of pizza. Friendly, patient, and not rushing me while I stood there going back and forth like my life depended on it. Everything looked so good. I couldn't decide between a chicken roll, chicken parm hero, or something fancier. My hubby, of course, was no help...just "get whatever." Sir??? I ended up getting three cheese slices and an order of garlic knots. That brick oven pizza? Crispy, hot, and exactly what I needed. The garlic knots? Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and they came with marinara which I LOVED. ONLY thing -- why are there only THREE garlic knots?? Be serious. Give me 4 or 5, don't be shy . But overall? I don't typically go out to Italian restaurants but this was a special occasion. Must say, it was impressive! The bread that gets served when you sit down is good, much like any other place. But the pesto sauce for dipping... oh dear that's a whole other level. Wish they had a pasta in that sauce! Fried calamari- so perfectly crispy with such a light coating on it. Don't know how they do it, but it's perfect. Comes with 2 sauces, one is like a slightly spicy vodka and the other a marinara. Oh so good! As the entree got the bow ties with sausage and creamy sauce. Very well executed. Great amount of sausage. Would have loved to see some more vegetables in there, maybe some tomatoes or something but otherwise great. Staff very friendly, heck seated 13 people during lunch with no hesitation. There was plenty of room for everything gifts, a photo area, a dessert table, a table for the couple, and about 30 guests without feeling crowded. Now onto the food, this was a brunch served family-style, and everything came out beautifully. We started with bread and pesto sauce, then fresh fruit and pastries, plus both banana and classic French toast. Then came the savory dishes: Margherita pizza, penne à la vodka, chicken campagna, and a vegetable egg frittata. My favorite was definitely the penne, the sauce was incredible. Stopped by at this old school Italian restaurant for lunch. Cosy interior. Our waitress was nice. We were started off with some squishy focaccia and good pesto. We all liked our dishes. My wife enjoyed her salad special. My MIL got 1/3 of the way throughbher eggplant parmigiana, which got two thumbs up. I enjoyed my salmon peperonata. It was tasty. First time my wife and I came here, it was with another couple for lunch. I ordered gnocchi bolognese. It was wonderful. The gnocchi was soft, practically melted in your mouth. Just the way I like it. Second time...was Valentine's Day. The result was vastly different. If you know anything about prefix dinners, you know they're a roll of the dice. This one was a miss, sadly. First off, they made us order a 3-course meal (something we'd normally never do). Secondly, my dishes felt like they were just cobbled-together leftovers. I ordered gnocchi and filet mignon. The gnocchi was definitely not hand-cut, as the bolognese was, and it was in cream sauce (not my favorite pairing). The filet mignon was, oddly, precut, and drenched in this weird, tangy steak sauce. I'd never had filet mignon prepped like this before. I tasted more sauce than steak. My whole meal, save for the olive oil cake, was just very disappointing. And in the end, my final bill ended up being double for two people what I'd just paid a few weeks earlier for four. Not cool. I'm considering giving this place one more chance, as we liked our first meal. But I definitely would NOT come here on a holiday ever again. read more

How do I not have Luigi's restaurant on my regular rotation list??? Honestly, I do not know why especially since I have been here multiple times over the years. This shop embodies that old world Italian restaurant feeling being on the smaller (not too small) side and loud. It's perfect and filled with electricity in the air. We had a reservation for four at eight and my wife and I arrived a little early to get our seat. Ha Ha... No way, the place was packed with people waiting. You could also see the guests speaking with and hugging staff. Lots of regulars here. Our friends arrived at eight and we had a very small (3-5 minute) wait until seated. We really took some time to relax and speak before finally ordering for restaurant week. Let me give you the rundown: Appetizers Baked clams for two of us - These were delicious. Light and flavorful with plenty of sauce to dip your bread. Smaller clams so they are very tender and sweet. Calamari for me - shared that with my wife and her baked clams. - Terrific. Nice crunchy coating with tender tasty calamari. Meatball for one - My buddy had the meatball and just loved it. I think his words were: "The best meatball I ever had." He's Italian... I view that as an enormous compliment. I could see that there was plenty of sauce with some ricotta on top. I will have to do that for my next visit. Main: Three orders of the Papperdale with short rib ragu - this was amazing. The pasta was incredible and the ragu was thick-rich and extremely tasty. Each bite made yo want to take another. Ravioli - My buddy's wife had this and truly enjoyed the delicious pasta ravioli and cheese filling. Plenty of rich red sauce rounded out the meal. Dessert: Four cheese cakes. This was also wonderful, A thick buttery crust with an extremely tasty-rich-smooth cheese. It was perfect. All together, this was one amazing meal and I will be coming back on a more regular basis. I was lucky enough to win an Instagram contest from The Harrison and their sister restaurant Luigi's NHP for the Super Bowl. Luigi's provided a giant focaccia sandwich platter that couldn't have been better. Every single piece was made thoughtfully and was delicious. We chose the roast beef Americano, the classic Italian, and the grilled chicken. They were all dressed with a tasty sauce and fresh/roasted vegetables. Luigi's is a super popular Italian restaurant in one of the remotest parts of Queens, just short of the Nassau border. Street parking is doable along Union Tpke and in the surrounding neighborhood. The tables are densely packed and the servers dance between them with trays of drinks and loaded plates of pasta all night. It's a good idea to make a reservation, even on a weeknight. This time, we were walk-ins and waited about 20 min, even though the hostess quoted a wait time of 35-40 min. The entrance and bar area was jam packed with people though, early bird diners were finishing up, rotating tables quickly. We were seated in the back room, where there was a party of 20 and it was pretty raucous. It was Restaurant Week after all. A carafe of water and bread basket with focaccia lands on the table while the menus are handed out. A dish of pesto to dip the focaccia is a tasty alternative to EVOO or butter. For the RW event, there was a prix fixe menu with a choice of appetizer, entrée and dessert, which 3/4 of us went with. We shared fried calamari, burrata caprese and one of Nonna's giant meatballs. We also got an order of mussels (not RW) just to try and they were pretty good in white wine & garlic. The RW entree choices are similar to the regular menu. There are fresh-made and dried pasta choices, but I go with fresh whenever given the choice. The Pappardelle with Shrimp & Lobster (extra charge) looks great and tastes even better with perfect chewy blankets of extra wide noodle sheets on a creamy sauce. My wife goes for the perfectly grilled Branzino fillet and my son gets the Pappardelle with Short Rib Ragu, one of his favorites. My BIL gets the Orecchiette with Sausage & Broccoli Rabe, a very safe dish. Dessert is included for RW with choices of Tiramisu & Olive Oil Cake. My son goes wild for the frozen Strawberry Pie and I relax with a nice cup of Cappuccino. read more

After participating in the corn maze at the Queens County Farm, we wanted to eat around the area as it was getting late. Found Luigi's to be the closest restaurant with great reviews on yelp and google that would be opened past 9pm. We didn't know what to expect. The world series was happening so they had the game on their tv screens by the bar so that was nice. Their dine in area was nice too. You can either get a booth or regular tables which is where we sat. The waitstaff was pretty great. They gave us enough space so we can think about what to order and came back in time for us to order. It felt like a neighborhood bar or restaurant with locals coming in and out. We were starving so we may have ordered with our eyes so we ordered more than what we could finish. Hindsight, I wish that I tried their Long Island Restaurant Week menu. Pretty great options for a three course pre-fixed meal. Anyways, instead we got the homemade fresh mozzarella which came with marinated tomatoes, roasted peppers, torn basil and aged balsamic sauce. That was really good. Tried to get the meatball but they were all out of that. Instead got the arancini balls which were just alright. For myself, I ordered the Frutti di mare which were the spaghetti seafood pasta - it had calamari, shrimp, mussels, clams, and tomato sauce. I tried a little bit of the Pappardelle short rib ragu which had braided beef short ribs, stewed tomatoespecially, and whipped ricotta. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. One of the few places with authentic Italian food! Came here for a friend's birthday on a Monday and was seated in the backroom. Super spacious and amazing service! We started off with the spicy mussels, calamari/pickles/shrimp deep fried platter, Orechiette, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and Wood fire pizza. Spicy mussels actually has a kick of spiciness to them!! Really liked the sauce and is perfect to dip your bread into. Orechiette was really good!! Not too oily, came out hot and portions were huge! This would be perfect for two people to split but since we each ordered our own entrees on top of the appetizers, we ended up taking a good chunk home. Spaghetti and Meatballs was AMAZING! Let me start by saying this has to be some of the best Italian food around. Ambiance is exciting. Service is always on point, they definitely know what they're doing. This place was good, my friend and I decided to go out to eat and we stopped there, the place is nicely decorated, had a warm feeling, we were served by two lovely ladies , Zuma and Mia I believe, they were great, helpful and attentive. 7pm reservation on a Tuesday evening, we arrived a few minutes early to check in with Danika and were told that there was a 10-15 minute wait. All good, beautiful pre-fall evening we said we'd wait outside as the entryway is very, very narrow with enough room for only one person to walk by at a time. Danika said she'd come out to notify us when our table was ready. After ~15 minutes, we went back inside and Danika asked us if we had a reservation. She didn't recognize us and didn't come outside to let us know that a table was available. The restaurant started to fill up and a backlog of folks started to jam the narrow entryway. After waiting inside the narrow entryway this time, after another ~15 minutes Danika decided to give our table to a walk-in couple. Danika said, "It's okay, they're elderly people", actually they were significantly younger than us. All good, we weren't starving. At ~7:30 we were seated and ordered a fried calamari app and a meatball app. Calamari was fresh and crispy, but greasy. Meatball was tender and airy, pretty good. Our 2 entrees, the papardelle with 1/2 lobster tail and a skirt steak were both surprisingly good. Pasta seemed to be a fresh pasta, 2 shrimp, 1/2 lobster tail (also same size as shrimp) was prepared in a rich orange-hued sauce. Skirt steak was pre-sliced, served medium-well (the server did not ask for a desired temperature) in an unusual sweetish-tangy sauce (maybe Marsala) served with fresh sauteed garlicky spinach and a savory polenta. A rich, brown gravy may have worked better for the med-well steak. For dessert we had a slice of cheesecake and the tiramisu. Also both good. The restaurant was busy for a Tuesday evening which is probably a testament to the food quality. Unfortunately with the large choices of good Italian food available in Queens and western LI, the initial CX sets the tone. Danika soured the mood, made us feel unwelcome as guests and remained nonchalant thoughout. We didn't remember who our servers were, but no complaints about the food. I can't believe the review was sitting in the draft for a while, lol. I found the restaurant while checking on Yelp for the nearest restaurant. From the map, it showed us only less than 10 minutes to the destination. I'm so glad we found it. We ordered baked clams, margarita pizza, and fritto misto or calamari to have leftovers and try some at home the next day. I liked them all, but the sauce for baked clams was too creamy, not my cup of tea. The seafood pasta was not bad. The restaurant is big, with pleasant seating outside and inside. Came for a celebration dinner so the review is mostly reflective of that. We were a large party that ordered ahead of time, so the service was super quick and efficient. They were attentive, refilled water, didn't miss any of the dishes, and it was overall a nice experience. The apps were what I expected, pretty good. Grabbed a pizza, some calamari, etc. The focaccia and the pesto were by far the best part of the meal-I would easily box that pesto and take it home. I grabbed the salmon, which was on the dryer side. The polenta was fine, but probably this dish would benefit from some vegetables. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their pasta dish. We didn't book the private room but I didn't totally understand the layout they choose for our table of 14, with half of the people in a booth and half of the people at a table. This made it overall fairly difficult for the party to talk and move around, whereas a long table for everyone (which absolutely was feasible in the space) would have been preferable. Would I come back for the food alone? Probably not. Is it good for a group? Probably, since they handled everything super well and it was a smoothly-run operation. read more
