I have finally made my way to King Umberto's after all this time. This is part of the trifecta that brought the grandma pizza to the masses, that being Umberto's, King Umberto's, and Da Angelo's. And with this visit, I have visited all three. With that out of the way, let's get to what I got at this pizzeria. Since I had just come from Dario's, I decided that one slice would be good to get a feel of what KU offers. First off, the ambiance and look of the pizzeria is my favorite of the trifecta and the customer service is fantastic. I got the white slice and on the whole, it was heated to perfection, had a wonderful balance of mozzarella, ricotta and basil. Anywho, the taste of the slice was fantastic and I think this outclasses Umberto's and Da Angelo's white pies by a long shot. The display case had a great selection of wonderfully made pizza and other items for takeout. If you come here, you need to try their grandma pie as that it's claim to fame (I wish I could have it, but damn gastritis! ) I met Giovanni, one of the owners and he was friendly and loves having conversations with his customers and hope to meet him again. This has easily become one of my top favorite pizzerias on Long Island and will make the trek again, this time with my family in tow. Cheers!

We went on the casual side. Seated in a corner, fit for five although only four. Banquet seating and two chairs. Bread basket was a mix of foccacia and more with a mini canister of olive oil and butter packets. A glass of melbac after a long day of work. Great service and delicious bites. We had packed to go what we could not finish.

King Umberto never disappoints! The food is consistently amazing, and the fried capellini is an absolute must-order crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The service is always friendly and attentive, making every visit feel special. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and perfect for a family dinner or a night out. One of my favorite Italian restaurants on Long Island!

The other day they had a one day special that they've been saying on social media for a few weeks to call to preorder. It was a rainbow cookie bomboloni. I saw they had a very limited amount available the day of so I decided to go. The guy at the counter told me they just sold out, but to ask Giovanni if there was somehow any more. There weren't, so I ordered a few slices. Right before I left, more came out and Giovanni was nice enough to let me know. He threw in a mini rainbow muffin as well. This was probably the best bomboloni I ever had as it was surprisingly light to eat.

King Umberto's is by far the best pizza spot around. They've expanded into a full restaurant and bar, but my review is for the classic pizza shop up front. As soon as you walk through the corner entrance, you're in the quintessential old school pizza place. The staff is what you would imagine from a NY pizza crew, but incredibly generous. Several times I've had them throw in an extra slice which absolutely is above and beyond and makes my day. The pizza itself is extraordinary. Their grandma slice is one of my favorites, and the metro is one of their specialties. While you can't go wrong with the classic slices, grab a few non traditional ones and treat yourself to a great experience. I gladly go out of my way for pizza from this place, so it's well worth a trip!

Fantastic food. Got there without a reservation. Sat us right away. Had house salad and fried calamari to start. Calamari was super fresh and very lightly fried. Sauce had a great flavor and not acidic at all. Pizza was great. Crunchy crust, no flop and perfect amount of cheese. The arabiata slice had plenty of broccoli rabe and a little heat. For dessert, we had the pistachios profiterol. Perfect choux pastry. Delicious ice cream and chocolate sauce. Will go back again and try more.

Great food and beautiful ambiance. Very friendly staff as well. It does get busy on the weekend so a reservation would be better

From the moment I arrived at Serata, I was immersed in an atmosphere of understated elegance. The décor was refined but welcoming, with soft lighting, muted tones, and a touch of modern sophistication. The staff greeted me warmly and guided me through an evening that felt effortlessly choreographed -- attentive without ever being intrusive. The tasting menu was a true journey. Each course showcased balance, creativity, and precision. The highlight for me was the scallops served with a foam -- and meltingly tender within. The wine enhanced each dish beautifully; clearly, a great deal of thought went into every detail. Even small touches stood out -- freshly baked bread with house by Luca, churned butter & whipped ricotta w olive oil to die for, an amuse-bouche that set the tone for the evening, the main entrees were perfectly prepared and a finale of delicate desserts were amazing showcased. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the sense of authenticity -- nothing felt forced or pretentious. It was fine dining that celebrated flavor, craftsmanship, and hospitality in perfect harmony. Kudos to Ciro & Rosario! A dining experience to be had by all! Verdict: A flawless fine dining experience that delights both the palate and the senses. Ideal for special occasions or anyone who appreciates culinary artistry at its finest!

On my social media feed I see a clip from King Umberto's. Giovanni introduces his dad and says what are we makin' today? Then his dad explains how he's going to make his special Pork & Sweet Vinegar Pepper sandwich. Man, I wish my dad was around so I can try his specialty sandwich. It just got to me. Elmont isn't too far away so I head out to King Umberto's. The name is throwing me and I hope I'm going to the right place. Is this like a Famous Rays pizza thing? I called ahead and placed an order for the specialty sandwich. Once inside, it's pizza in the front and all business in the back. I'm watching their videos, King Umberto's is known for their Veal Chop dish?? This place is calling me to come back and try everything. I walk inside the restaurant and give my order number. I also see in the corner of my eye homemade doughnuts?! Another customer comes in to pick up his order, he must have ordered Twenty Five sandwiches! I'm getting a little nervous, are they going to run out? The customer with the large order asked for a few doughnuts as well. Giovanni tells him, they're all sold but to get them next time, call ahead. Wow! The guys behind the counter are asking for my order and start prepping sandwiches. Now Giovanni (who I never met) said look, here's an extra sandwich, just in case one of them didn't come out perfect. I'm not understanding what's happening but I'm sure my dad in heaven gave someone a fist bump for me. I sit down and take a bite. If you know anything about New York Italian bread, this hero bread is perfectly cooked. It's split and stuffed with sliced pork and peppers. My favorite dish that I had at Raos was chicken scarpellio. That little touch of vinegar hits you. This is a perfect combination of peppers and pork, just a well crafted sandwich. First time here, I can see why you have the king in the title. I want to come back for everything!

Ask the Community - King Umberto Restaurant

Is there an ala carte menu or only the 5 course or 8 course dinner?

Yes there is an ala carte menu.

Do they have a lunch menu?

I'm sure they do sure

Salad eith your dinner?

Yes salad is part of the dinner and is very good.

Can walk-ins get a table at 11PM on a Friday? Or is that too late?

That might be to late, I believe that is when they are closed.

Hi. Do they have a bar? Do they serve alcohol or just wine?

Hi. They serve wine and beer. I do believe there's a full bar.

Are the portions family style meaning a dish is easily for 2 or more?

This is an upscale Italian restaurant but some portions are large enough to share but I would not consider this a "family style" portion restaurant, however the food is absolutely fantastic!

Is the outdoor area still the only part of Umbertos that is open? What about the main restaurant?

It's open and relaxed. Still busy and crowded. I suggest reservations and before 5 pm is empty.

You have Delivery checked off, do you actually deliver?

No. Just show up. You'll be seated in the order you arrived. The crowd is bigger on weekends. The room is small but you can call to ask about the space or get it to go.Its just as good, packed in a pizza box, but they have no pizza.

The menu wasn't overwhelming, and there were definitely many amazing options to choose from. We ended up getting the grilled octopus and burrata as starters for our table. The burrata I felt was the most underwhelming dish out of all the ones we had ordered as the bread underneath was toasted to the point that we couldn't really cut it or chew it because it was so crispy/stale and I think I would pass on this dish. The grilled octopus though? Phenomenal. I would highly recommend getting it as an appetizer for the table as the flavours of each component was just amazing and the octopus itself was perfectly seasoned and not overcooked. For entrees, we decided to share 2 pastas and a pizza and they were all amazing as well. I believe the pizza we had ordered was a spicy vodka pizza, and the crust was nice and thin and crispy, but still held up which is what I love! One of the pastas we had ordered was a ragu bolognese which was wonderful, but I think the star of the entrees was the Friday pasta special! It was tortellini in a mushroom cream sauce with lobster and other seafood and I loved how the tortellini's flavour didn't overpower the dish at all. For dessert, we ordered the cannoli cheesecake and the baked apple tart , and the apple tart definitely blew us all away! It was nice and hot on the skillet, and the flavour of the apple filling with the flaky pie/tart pastry was so delicious, especially with a bit of the melting ice cream on top! Overall, I had an amazing experience here and would definitely recommend coming here for a date night or even a group dinner!

The second and most recent time we went was for dinner with the a huge group of moms. We shared the Caesar salad, Brussels sprouts, and general two's cauliflower, which was amazing.
