Al Capone style restaurant Weekends they have some type of shows in front bar Both meals were special of the day Filet's tender and cooked as wished Chicken was very tender and tasty Service was good Not a fancy place but it's a local gem Seen other dishes go Parmesan dishes were big I asked the table and they said they were great Only thing that was not as food was dessert I am guessing they bring in Pistachio cake had no pistachio taste in our opinion Tiramisu was a little dry Only reason I gave a 4 but I would go again

I was once "that guy." The one who stood is a slow-moving line running around the block, just because I wanted to try a pop-up at a brewery. The food was great, but not mind-blowing. I'd waited at least 2+ hours just because I really wanted to see what it was all about. Apparently, so did everyone else in line. Enter Capone's - a place that sits on the polar opposite of whatever that pop-up was. It feels like the kind of place designed for regulars who've been coming here for decades. I get the impression people come here not because the food or service is in anyway remarkable, but because it is their third place. A place where they've been dancing, had a many-a-beer with many-a-friend, and maybe had a date or three. While we were in no way treated as outsiders or unwelcome, there is nothing even close to remarkable or noteworthy about this place. Perhaps only because there is no associated sentimental value. I had the opportunity to try their Lasagna Bolognese. The lasagna was cooked well, with some ricotta between the layers, and had some tomato sauce and an ample amount of protein added up top and around. However, I think this what worked against it. While there were layers of pasta and ricotta, the tomato and meat were added as a finishing element, rather than being integrated into the lasagna proper. Just a little more cheese would have been nice, too. Finally, When it comes to the service, it was friendly, and the food came our fairly fast. However, at the same time I wish it were a touch more attentive. Their prices are average, and the location is clean, but the dining room needs some sunlight in my opinion. So, we are left with an okay dining experience. There was nothing to detract me from coming again, but at the same time, there was nothing to draw me into a return visit.

What an amazing place!! We walked in and we were not quite sure but wow! OMG talk about flavorful Italian food! We were in the area for a convention and looking for some place close and local so we Yelp'd checked out the menu and what caught our eye, "The Balls" a meatball appetizer. So in the car we jumped and headed off to dinner! Staff was warm and friendly. They were very busy but we were seated promptly! Food was delicious and plentiful!! If I am back in the area I am so going back!! I loved the retro speak easy vibe about the place it was so fun!

Capone's Restaurant & Lounge 147 Summit St, Peabody https://caponesdining.com/ 978-977-0520 This place hasn't missed a beat! We both had the $13.95 #ThrowbackThursday lasagna special and it was outstanding (added the chicken orzo soup for $1)! I don't eat a lot of lasagna but I can't imagine that anyone offers a bigger, better tasting serving than Capone's. Our server, Lisa, was excellent. Prompt, courteous, and friendly throughout the entire visit. She made us feel right home and I was told that she makes a great Espresso martini.

I'll start by saying, I will be back. I am in the area for a few days and potentially until Christmas for work and having a $50 a day credit for food I wanted to start by spoiling myself on day one and did I ever! Found this via yelp and the pictures of the food is what sold me on what I wanted to have for dinner. The way the gps took me into the parking lot was confusing but figured it out. My co-worker and I could hear the music from outside which really didn't matter but was happy to see it was a live band and they did a heck of a job with the entertainment. Soup of the day was chicken noodle and it was one heck of a cup of soup. The fresh vegetables with the broth was just superb, I wish I had eaten it without the crackers. Would have also been happy eating another three cups too. The lasagna was orgasmic, the home made noodles is just the beginning. The meat sauce made every bite worth wile and I am happy I had bread to clean up my plate with. I tried a bite of my co-workers chicken parm and that was equally delicious. Two big fat pieces of chicken with a side of pasta was too filling and he had to take the rest home. For dessert.... Spumoni Bomba.... this was just icing on the cake. Best bang for your buck dessert I have eaten all year. The picture does no justice. This is something you need to experience for your self. This is clearly not a hidden gem with how packed it was at 9:00 on a Thursday in the bar area, dining room had plenty of seats. Definitely an older crowd place and was happy to see people up dancing to the live music. I look forward to coming back sooner than later.

We are going to an evening birthday party in Marblehead and decided to have an early dinner and stay overnight in Peabody. We found Capone's on the Marriott website and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did. We got greeted and seated quickly by the professional staff up front and then ended friendly and attentive wait service. The bread was a delicious and light Italian bread with sesame seeds that is light and airy, but also addictive! My guests both had the fettuccine Alfredo that had that perfect Alfredo sauce that was the right clingy consistency without being thick-- they loved it. I decided to have that lasagna with the bolognese sauce, even though the waitress warned me that it was a big portion-- she was not kidding! The flavors of the ricotta and the bolognese were amazing! We've already decided that we will come back soon and bring more family members!

Capone's is your typical, old-school Italian-American red sauce restaurant and I love it. I hadn't been in years until recently, and forget how good it is. It can get busy, but the service is always friendly, and our most recent server, Nicole, was fantastic. The prices are super reasonable, especially because you can get two to three meals from each entree. I always get either of two dishes: chicken, broccoli, and ziti or eggplant parmigiana. The dishes are huge and each entree comes with your choice of salad or soup, plus scala bread for the table. The bread is delicious and the salads are fresh and crisp. Both dishes are huge. The ziti is addictively good--they might put crack in the sauce. And the eggplant is very flavorful. If you are looking for a good deal and a good meal, Capone's is your place.

I have been to Capone's on a few different occasions in the evenings to watch a friends band perform. I was surprised to see that they have a good sized bar, dance floor and stage. On one of my visits, the kitchen was still open so I was able to try something. They specialize in Italian, it was late so I decided to keep it on the lighter side so I decided to order the meatballs. They arrived promptly at my table, served in a black iron skillet two good sized balls covered in cheese and sauce accompanied with 2 pieces of garlic bread (toasted). The meatballs had a great texture and the correct amount of spice. The sauce a tad mild, but yet tasty. The cheese was melted and stringy. The garlic bread had a good amount of butter and garlic and just the right amount of crunch. I ordered a beer, so I did not have an opportunity to try the mixed drinks, but my friends seemed to be very happy with theirs. Our waitress was very polite and provided great service. I give Capone's Restaurant and Lounge a Solid 4 Stars.

I have been going to this place for years. Highly recommend it especially if you like pasta or Italian food. I have tried a bunch of things off this menu, from pasta to soup. The chicken parm, the chicken AL Capone, the pasta Fagioli, and bruschetta are extremely good and are recommended. Even ordering takeout the quality doesn't diminish, it's just as good. The restaurant is nice inside and has a separate bar section with tv's. Some nights you can watch live music there as well. This place offers a lot and is very good .

I tried two, the classic with rosé was so pretty, and the honey lavender with base level champagne was delicious. The raw oysters were to die for! Perfect little pop of acidity with other flavors delicately added and perfectly balanced. The oysters Rockefeller were also perfectly delicious. The foie gras is not something I would normally eat, but my boyfriend loves that stuff so we went with it. I enjoyed it more than he did. It was not a classic foie gras, it was smoother with a creamier texture and more buttery flavor. Eating it with the fig jam and "light as clouds" toast made it absolutely delicious! (They clearly saw me there; we made eye contact and the one guy wasn't even doing anything.) After about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting with no service, we were about to leave when a server finally came to our table. Since they were obviously busy and weren't keeping up with the crowd that night, we tried to order two drinks each so they could save a little of their time and we could relax without worrying about if a server was going to take our order again before the end of the week. The server very sharply said that he was NOT going to give us two drinks at a time, CERTAINLY not with drinks of this high alcohol content. We ordered one drink each, cashed out and bounced. The cocktail I got was fine; I could make a slightly worse version at home at a fraction of the price (or even two at once!). We we were told later by a friendlier Salemite at a bar with a better vibe that there is a Massachusetts state law that prohibits having two drinks at once at a bar. Fair enough. Had our server told us that, unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to give us two drinks at once -- instead of making us feel like idiots/degenerates for daring to ask -- we probably would have dropped a lot of vacation money there that night. Oh well; we had a great time at the other places we went.

Our waitress did return, apologized and took our food order. I wasn't so sure about ordering sushi, but glad we did. The maki we tried were very good, fresh and beautifully presented. A great start. We switched gears for our entree and went with a parpadelle bolognese. A nice generous portion that was as good as some of the Italian spots in the area. Our friends also enjoyed their dishes. Portions were generous and prices were reasonable. I would easily have given 4 stars, but the service needs improvement. You would need to plan to spend at least a couple of hours for a lunch. In our case it was not a big deal as we were enjoying time with friends, but I can understand the other negative reviews now. She was patient and kind and took the time to understand what we needed. We ordered cocktails... because tonight was the last night I could before I re-start chemotherapy. Both my father and I ordered the Sangria ($14.00) ... And it was *amazing*. Honestly, it was the best I've had since my best friend and I drank together at a Flamenco restaurant in Montreal in June of 1985. My mother ordered the house dry red wine ($10.00) I didn't taste it and she didn't mention whether it was good or not. We ordered one Ceasar Salad ($10.00) and it was both really generous and incredibly delicious (see photo). My parents and I split it three was and it was plenty. The tang of the dressing really worked against the sardines and garlic. I'd definitely go back for more of that!! For dinner, my mother ordered the beef special.... Beef Braciole ($33.00) in an epic sauce. She loved it... but definitely could not finish it!! She brought the leftovers home (as did my father and I). My father ordered the Veal parmigiana ($29.99) and it was a massive, almost overwhelming plate of food (photo attached). He loved it (as did I when I tasted it!). For me?? I ordered the Pollo Vodka Bella Napoli ($26.99 - photo attached). It was a huge, almost overwhelming bowl of food and it was amazing. Deep, rich flavor with mushrooms, bacon, shallots, and tender chunks of chicken. The noodles we all ordered were the home made & hand-made fusilli that are produced in-house. I think that if a chef is going to spend the time necessary to make noodles, you should savor them... and that's what we did. Suzanne offered us a chance at dessert, but we declined, since we knew that if any of us ate a bite more, we would hit critical mass and destroy at least the surrounding block. The only weak point we encountered was the bread. It was weak, drab, and lacking in taste and character. They could do much better on that. Our bill, with taxes, was $162.62. With tip, it came to $195. Totally worth it!
