I'm not a Boston native, but this dining experience definitely made me want to move here. My family and I visited Capricho to celebrate my graduation after stumbling upon it the night before while having dinner across the street. We're so glad we decided to come back for such a special occasion. The atmosphere: Capricho has a charming and cozy dining room that creates an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place that feels perfect for celebrating special moments with loved ones. The food: We were welcomed with complimentary plantain chips served alongside a light, fresh dipping sauce, which was a great start to the meal. My table opted for the prix fixe menu, which allowed us to sample a variety of dishes. For starters, we ordered the Papas Rellenas and Yucca Croquettes. Both were light, flavorful, and paired beautifully with their accompanying sauces. We also added the Charred Octopus, which was incredibly tender, not chewy at all, and packed with flavor. For my entrée, I chose the Steak Frites, served with brussels sprouts and fries. I'm usually not a fan of brussels sprouts, but these were crispy, airy, and perfectly seasoned. The steak was cooked well, and while I enjoyed the dish overall, I do wish the fries had been cooked a bit longer, as they were slightly underdone for my preference. For dessert, I tried the Dulce de Maracuyá, a panna cotta-style dessert featuring mango and passionfruit flavors. It wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated, and the bright, fruity notes provided a refreshing end to the meal. The service: The service was fantastic. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and our server brought such great energy and personality to the experience. My husband and I saw this place open up and were very excited to see a new Colombian place near us. The service is amazing and everyone was so friendly. We had overall a great experience, the chorizo appetizer was by far our favorite and my husband (who is Colombian) said it tasted just like home. My only critique is that I wish they would lean more into the Colombian taste profile with some of their menu items (like the steaks). Theres a lot of American restaurants and pubs in the area and this would definitely stand out more! read more

The restaurant is newer (over a month old) so don't expect a website or even phone voice mail account set up yet. I called in the late afternoon to get a rez. It was a Friday evening so the place was getting busy (not totally packed but steady pace). We were seated upstairs where it's roomier. The renovation from its previous existence as a French restaurant was efficient with nice mid century themed seats. Free plantain chips with cilantro sauce was tasty. We shared a grilled octopus to start along with some drinks. The app was all right as it could have been a bit more tender, the char was good. My friend tried the ribeye and I a more traditional columbian fare. The steak was perfectly cooked rare and tasty but the accompany salad lacked any flavor. The tomatoes and potatoes had no char. My order of their signature bandeja paisa was all right, not anything to rave about as its standard fare that any Columbian place ought to be able to make -- but an assessment of authenticity that passes. Overall the prices are very reasonable for the steaks. The dishes were a mix of good and works in progress where minor tweaks could make it much better.The drink lists is decent but I would note the Modelo Especial was supposed to be draft instead of bottled. This Upscale Colombian restaurant is putting out some pretty good food. The apps where really good and have a creative spin to some classic dishes. The encanto verde was guac with shrimp that also came with plantain chips for dipping, this was my favorite dish of the night. Other apps we had were the papa rellennas and the arepa con queso, both really good! For the main course, the NY strip was cooked perfect and the seafood in the seafood casuela was really fresh, I would recommend both. We also ordered a side of fried plantains that were crispy and delish. For dessert we had their version of obleas, I prefer the more traditional version but their was good too. Just discovered this gem of a Colombian steakhouse in Washington Square and we literally told people to come as we were eating. We were celebrating a birthday and had an incredible dining experience that showcased the best of Colombian cuisine. Appetizers were absolutely phenomenal - we ordered the Charred Octopus, Ceviche de Camaron, Avocado Salad, and Capricho Mazorca, and literally cleaned every plate. The freshness of the ingredients really shone through, particularly in the shrimp ceviche where they cleverly incorporated avocado for a creamy twist. My only suggestion would be to make the portions a bit more shareable for groups. Entrees were abundant. We went all out with the El Asador, Tierra Y Mar, Cazuela del Mar, and the Signature Bandeja Paisa. Every cut of meat was cooked exactly to our requested temperatures - no easy feat considering how busy they were. The presentation was Instagram-worthy with vibrant colors and beautiful plating that made everything taste even better. Fair warning: come hungry. The portions are generous and there's plenty of variety on each plate. A special shoutout to our waiter who was meticulous about noting our food allergies and personally confirmed everything with the kitchen. That level of care is rare. Desserts might be the star of the meal. We ordered the Tierra de Cafe, Flan, Capricho Tropical, and Obleas. The Fruit Merengon was already sold out so we didn't get to try that. The Capricho Tropical was our favorite - light, sweet, and perfectly balanced. The Flan was a close second with that classic creamy texture. The Tierra de Cafe was rich and decadent (definitely for coffee lovers), while the Obleas, though tasty, proved a bit challenging to divvy up since the wafers were tough to break apart. Service deserves a mention because while they were clearly understaffed on a busy Saturday night, our waiter never let it affect our experience. He was attentive, apologetic about the wait times, and genuinely made us feel valued. Yes, it was a longer meal, but we didn't mind one bit - sometimes the best dining experiences are the ones where you linger. We made Friday night reservations for Capricho online. It was quite busy but we were seated upstairs quickly. The upstairs area felt nice and elegant. We did Dine Out Boston, so it was a prefixed menu. However, everything was very good. I got the steak frites and the meat was cooked nicely. The drinks were also delicious and dessert was ok. " Colombian Gem close to home " My husband and I live in Newton , Ma. We are so happy to have this place close. The vibe is warm and welcoming with the owners introducing themselves. As if you are eating in their home , such a lovely touch . It felt very genuine. After that introduction I just knew the food would taste wonderful . We ordered the paisa , and drinks . No room for dessert but next time. The food was authentic, fresh and just plain delicious. If you didn't feel the owners ( lovely couple ) love in their introduction you certainly felt it in their food . It's a bit more pricey than normal Colombian cuisine. However it's well worth it . I am so happy we found a place so close to our home . Prior we traveled to East Boston Ma which is quite a ride for us ; for Colombian cuisine. My husband and I enjoyed our dinning experience here . My husband and I were walking our dogs on a Saturday morning and noted that this restaurant's first day of offering brunch was that very same day! We dropped the dogs off, grabbed our 19 year old son and headed back for brunch. We were the first guests to be seated and we were delighted that they had live music. The food was absolutely delicious. There was a mix of traditional breakfast items with Colombian dishes. My son had blueberry pancakes with an amazing coffee/berry mousse - he said it was the best plate of pancakes he has ever had. I had a vegetable arepa and my husband had the eggs benedict over an arepa. We were all thrilled with our choices and the food was so fresh, homemade, and perfectly seasoned. Not to be missed starters included the yucca croquettes (?) and the farmer's cheese with chimichurri (sp) sauce. Both were amazing. Beyond the wonderful food, the service was impeccable. Justin was a consummate professional server and the hostess and chef came out to check on us several times. I was amazed that this restaurant was only open 3 weeks when we came for dinner. The waitstaff were very knowledgeable about the entrees and provided excellent service. We decided to try one of their appetizers, Papas Rellenos and it was very tasty, We each ordered the Tierra y Mar and it was a very moist Filet mignon with garlic shrimp and carrots in a nice sauce! We wanted to try a dessert and shared the Obleas which was a nice moist fruity and creamy way to end an exceptional meal! I think the last time I enjoyed filet mignon this much was 30 years ago at a small restaurant in the Castile Mountains. I feel lucky to be able to do the same now, just half a mile from my home, at the Capricho Colombian Steakhouse. The meat simply melted in my mouth. The seafood was so fresh, the sauce was creamy and rich, and the portion is very generous. The adjustable lights on the table are a great touch for those of us over a certain age who don't want to pull out our phones when the bill comes. It was not crowded at all early on a Wednesday night so we walked right in and were seated immediately with no res. That will change as this restaurant will be packed in no time.
