We had our holiday Celebration at this amazing restaurant. We had an excellent time. Our server Sergio was very friendly and made sure our food was on time and our drinks were delicious. Started off super strong, but unfortunately went downhill quickly. The atmosphere was great!! Nice music, good vibes, and a very friendly waiter at first. We ordered drinks and food, and the drinks came out quickly. However, we ended up waiting over an hour for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't busy at all (we were one of two other groups). To make things more frustrating, the tables who arrived after us were already being served. About 30 minutes after ordering food, our waiter came by and asked if we wanted anything else, and we said no, we were just waiting on our food. He said okay, but then didn't check on us again for another 30 minutes. When we finally asked about the delay, he responded, "that's why I asked you before," which felt dismissive and confusing, considering he was the one who forgot to put the order in. By the time the food arrived, it was actually really good, but the experience had already been overshadowed by the long wait and lack of communication. Really wanted to love this place. The food was beautiful and worth the brag, the bathrooms were spotless and great for a mirror selfie, and the live music was amazing. We were with a large group celebrating a birthday, and overall, the atmosphere was full of good vibes and great energy. Our server was wonderful throughout the meal, but things fell apart a bit when it came time for the bill. She seemed confused and all over the place, which made things a little stressful and anxiety producing. Dear Peka, please invest in handhelds that let servers itemize by guest with an option to tap and pay. It's 2025, and that kind of upgrade would make a huge difference. My least favorite thing was the mocktail. It was flat and lifeless, which was disappointing given how incredible everything else was. Consider having a mixologist create some nonalcoholic drinks that are just as amazing as your food, because your dishes deserve beverages that match their level of excellence. read more

The service was a bit slow and my boyfriend's food came out a lot earlier than mine, however that it most likely due to it being Valentine's Day when we went. The decor and seating was amazing with different rooms. Joanna was amazing, attentive, she knew the menu and made sure we were satisfied w our meals and drinks and that they were on point. They had live music after 8. The shrimp and tostones tapas was delicious, the charrasco steak was good i exchanged the rice for coconut rice which was the perfect choice. They surprised me with tres leches cake. My birthday experience was excellent and they had great spot for a photo op near the bathrooms and the other rooms also had wonderful art and color. Went here to celebrate my friend's birthday, and it was so much fun. They had a salsa band, and somehow my friend's father made his little dancing floor by the band, where there was no room., The place is fairly large with three rooms and it's a great place for birthday celebrations. The food is delicious. I had the ceviche and tacos and they were very very good. The owner Kat was super nice. She showed the entertainment room, which was a cute space for dancing and celebrations.. it seemed like it was well enough for the pop up place for people to come out and play. The sangria was good. We came on a Friday and had a fantastic time here! Live music, tasty cocktails, and great food! My favorite tapas dish were the tequeños. I had never had these before. They look like mozzarella sticks. They're the most delicious puffed pastry rods filled with melted cheese, that you dip in this guava sauce. The other standout dish was the yellow ceviche. I had wanted to try a ceviche with leche de tigre for a long time, and this lived up to the hype! I think leche de tigre is the special Peruvian marinade for the ceviche, with certain flavor profiles. I also enjoyed the gaucho skirt steak. Love that it had sweet plantains and yucca. I was also really glad we got the shrimp, which was an awesome combo I wouldn't have thought of (putting saucy shrimp on top of tostones). The cool thing was that after enjoying a full meal and mezcal cocktails, the musician started playing dance music and a bunch of people got up to dance bachata and salsa. read more

If you're looking for authentic Latin American cuisine, you won't want to skip out on Peka when you're in town. You walk into a beautifully decorated restaurant, with a welcoming ambience. The food here is amazing. They have a wide range of options and everything is executed perfectly. The cuisine is unique and there is nothing basic about it! The ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for friends and dates. I have been here twice and both times the service was excellent. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome! I have many food allergies and felt very comfortable that I was taken care of. I am gluten-free, dairy, free, and allergic to nuts. I am also very sensitive to food and can get quite sick after eating at a restaurant if it is not good quality. I have never felt sick after eating here, even after a couple drinks, I was OK! There are so many great things to say about Peka, it's hard to know where to begin. The entire menu is inspired by fine Latin cuisine, so you will definitely get a little bit of that Venezuela, Peru, Mexico, Cuba, etc. feel throughout the options. They have your more basic items, like tacos and nachos, but also some more exotic items that are harder to find. There's a ton of flavor in everything. The Ahi Tuna Ceviche was exploding with what I think was vinegar and citrus, and just ignited my taste buds. The decor is very cool, and it's amazing to see what they did with this old Irish bar space. It definitely has a whole new vibe. It's dimly lit but has TVs and great music playing. Chef/Owner/Creator Pedro is an absolutely huge part of the environment here. He's making his way around from table to table, chatting with patrons and making recommendations. He saw the tacos on the table and immediately said "Do you like hot sauce?" and out comes some of his homemade hot sauce. It was awesome. I wish they bottled it. You need to ask for the hot sauce, it's got a really nice kick! The tacos come individually and I highly recommend the fish ones (mahi mahi). They came with pickled radish, guac and just loaded with ingredients. The shrimp dish reminded me of tapas I had in Granada, Spain. So good. The fresh grilled bread to dip in the sauce was to-die-for. I could have eaten 10 pieces of that bread. I regret not ordering the nachos, but I'll be back! I want to try so many things on the menu here. The reina pepiada caught my eye too, but I had just ordered so much already. Hoping to order more things I've never had before. The coconut flan was the best flan I've personally ever eaten. I highly recommend saving room for dessert. You won't be disappointed. If you get the opportunity to chat with Pedro, you will find out this isn't just a business for him, this is his personality. He lives and breathes the restaurant business. It is in his blood and you can tell he enjoys nothing more than making his patrons happy with his cuisine. Although Pedro isn't Italian, he feels like my Italian Uncle just making sure you eat enough and he'll have a drink with you too. Hospitality is his thing. There were points I forgot I was in a restaurant. It feels like you're at Pedro's house. You should most certainly try Peka. First of all, every single thing on the menu sounds like it's going to be amazing, so we were really struggling trying to figure out what and how much to get. Our server Wilbur helped us narrow down our selection and pick the right amount of food for two people. The food was amazing - so flavorful and nicely shareable. I want to go back and try more menu items, but I would also absolutely order every single thing here again. A standard restaurant experience until the margaritas were not good. The entire table of 4, sent back a drink at one point. I sent back a margarita, twice, because it wasn't good and I'd rather enjoy my experiences. It's my one precious life after all. No truly, life is too short to suffer through a bad cocktail. So naturally, I expressed my apologies to the waiter asked if I could have a lemon drop ($17) instead as I'd had ordered it previous to the margaritas and enjoyed the lemon drop. The waiter told me that they couldn't send back the drink anymore. I said that's fine, I'll pay for it but I'd prefer a lemon drop instead. She said she'd ask the manger and left. The owner came over with a lemon drop. This I know because she walked over to me directly and condescendingly introduced herself as the owner while presenting the drink. She even delighted in standing right at the table, leaning in to peer at me and prompted that she wouldn't leave until I took a sip. I'd like to emphasize again that the margaritas were NOT good but this review isn't about the margaritas actually. It's interesting that the owner chose to be derisive rather than curious. Having spent years in hospitality, generally managers/owners will "light touch" a table to express welcome. It's also an opportunity for them to learn about their customers experience. Done correctly, it's invaluable in adding to the ambiance and allows the restaurant to learn and build return clientele. A missed opportunity here to improve the product because again, truly, those margaritas were not by any measure enjoyable to drink. Perhaps, the bartender needs more training or the recipe should be updated or an ingredient was expired or maybe even, I just didn't like it but she never asked.. Her approach was to attempt to embarrass and belittle me. I won't be returning. read more

Excellent tapas for delivery! Food was fresh and crispy upon arrival, and even after reheating the next day. Las arepas de Katy (reina pepiada): wow, I'm seriously considering copying Katy and eating these for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The reina pepiada (chicken & avocado filling) was bright and flavorful and meshed well with the crisp-tender arepa. Boli's quesito: grilled semi-hard cheese that reminded me of less salty halloumi. Drizzled with honey, great sweet & savory balance. Pupusas de Chera: two meat & cheese-filled pupusas with pickled cabbage. Also tasty, but a little dry and light on the cheese. Wish they packed this in recyclable plastic, not styrofoam. Menu and price point are similar to Orinoco in Boston, which I've also enjoyed before. However, Orinoco's delivery menu is currently more limited (and notably, arepa-less), so I think Peka has the edge! Also, it feels good to support a restaurant that opened during such a tough year. Looking forward to trying more of Peka's menu. read more

Despite its Latin theme, the dishes were far from satisfying. Having frequented East Boston for authentic Latin cuisine, I can confidently say that any eatery there surpasses this one. The pupusas, priced at $7 each, were particularly disappointing, resembling frozen varieties from a grocery store. Even their basic tacos, priced at $8 each, failed to impress. While I don't mind paying premium prices for exceptional food, the disparity between cost and quality here is concerning. Elsewhere, a pupusa typically costs $2.50 to $3 and delivers far superior flavor. This place really needs to up their game when it comes to their food. Especially for a establishment that sells food from all over latin america. Ps a concerned latino. read more

Latin American is one of my favorite cuisines and Peka exceeded my expectations! I love tapas since you can try many different items and share a tasting experience with company. Our favorites were Los Tequenos de Christy and the Reina Pepiado Arepa. Los Tequenos were out of this world. Similar to a mozzarella stick, but with buttery puff pasty, smooth cheese, and a sweet dipping sauce. I'd come back just for those again. Drinks were well poured and fairly priced. This was my wife's and my second visit. It was great the 1st time, even better the second. Our server Eliot was the perfect amont of friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The food was fantastic. We gopt teh Shrimp and tostones Tapas, which paired wonderfully with the old fashion I had. My wife is a huge fan of their arepas, and had those for dinner, while I dove into Pabellon Criollo. A fantastic portoin, filling and the perfect amount of rice. The flavor combinations were excellent and I paired it with Cusquena Beer (which is now a favorite of mine). When we arrived the music was the level to enjoy but still be able to have a conversation. Will be back as their menu has some items that I ahve to try.
