    Rib steak soup
    Petra E.

We spent a long day at Angell where our dog was getting a CT scan and minor surgery. In the morning we checked out the area for walking-distance lunch spots and were very happy with our choice of Don Tequeño y Doña Arepa. Our picks were: 1. Chicken & Cheese (Pollo Mechado Y Queso) Cachapa 2. La Llanera Arepa 3. Rib steak soup All these were excellent and I would get all again. Service was friendly and helpful. We ordered online, but the soup I wanted to try initially (Piscandina) wasn't available that day and they called me to let me know and suggest an alternative (with which I was very happy!). Pick up was easy and well packaged to carry back to eat it at Angell. The restaurant seating and decor, however, looked comfortable, fun, and very clean and I would definitely consider eating in if the situation allows.

Food is great, and pretty inexpensive for the portion size. The cachapa was sweet and satisfying. The sauces the provide are quite addictive, particularly on the arepas. Service can be super slow or speedy, depending on the time and rush. It's inconsistent, so plan on being there a while. It's quite calm inside, interestingly, and they play music videos on the TV as background audio. Definitely worth visiting and trying some stuff.

" Absolutely fresh & Delicious Arepas & Empanadas " Oh wow they make these to order and fresh . You got to wait a tad because they are made fresh . They are not sitting around already made . When you bite into a arepa it's magical; and freshly made off the stove . The empanadas taste just as fresh & delicious. I got the "Venezuelan lemonade" it's good too . Just a bit sweet , that never hurt anyone ; lol. The vibe is welcoming & friendly. I definitely will be back here when in the area . The wait time is not bad either . So putting it also on my list to get a quick bite ; spots. I am so stoked ; I came in today .

When I saw patacones on the menu my heart leapt with joy. A Venezuelan delight and rarely found. It is a dance in your mouth with interplay between savory and sweet. A choice of sweet or savory plantain base and layered with goodness of beans, avocado, greens, and cheese. Fun addition of matchstick chips. Not crazy about the addition of American cheese but so enjoyed the flavors. The accompanying sauces adds another layer of flavor. A clean inviting space. You order at the counter and food is brought to your table. Very close to Whole Foods on Center St.

Amazing arepas!! Love digging into this traditional Venezuelan food while vibing to the music - it's the perfect combo of flavor and atmosphere!

The parties at Don Tequeño y Doña Arepa, Jamaica Plain, are incredible. I always order the Dominó Empanada, the Viuda Cachapa, the Yucca Croquette and the Guava and Cheese Tequeño. In Costa Rica, we have something similar to the Cachapa, a little sweeter and prepared with young corn. I was delighted to enjoy the flavors that reminded me of the traditional dish that I appreciate. Every time, including when I have experienced issues with the deliver partner, [DoorDash], the parties of the business, especially, Juan have been incredibly regardful, proper and kind. The time that I visited, I felt preoccupied as I have wanted to have the entire bottle of the Guasacaca Sauce to accompany the empanada. They noticed that I enjoyed the sauce and did not make me feel bad about it at all. I absolutely recommend the business for a delicious experience of the Venezuelan and Dominican cuisine. The parties of the business certainly have great and proper standards about the treatment and care for the consumer. They have my appreciation.

    Chicken Arepa tasty.

Welcome to JP Wanted to try this new restaurant, just opened last week. So come on JP try this new restaurant in the neighborhood. We ordered plantains, and three different Arepas 2 grilled and 1 fried. Definitely will be returning.

    Bomba club sandwich

Ordered the Bomba and it was a GREAT decision. It's one of two club sandwiches on the menu and comes with shredded chicken, ham, cheese, fried egg, bacon, and dressed to perfection. The flavorful sensations this sandwich conjures up are difficult to comprehend. It's a personal "Sandwich Top 10" for me. Highly recommend! I can only give four stars because our two servers were not the friendliest. Take care of this it's five all the way.

So excited about this place in JP! We ordered both a meal and the pelua and vegetariana arepas. They were both delicious, but big! Right on the cusp of two being too much food. This place gets a 5 star from me for the SAUCES. Do not sleep on these- each one looks home made and was delicious. Food came out quick, the service was friendly and I am excited to return to try the 473826 different types of arepas!

I recommend getting here earlier if that's what you're craving. We ended up getting the empanada trio, the Pabellon Criollo (which I did not realize also had plantains), the maracuchitos and the tostones. Yes, all the plantains in the menu. It kind of happened by accident but it worked out great. We got our food incredibly fast! Everything was delicious. However, the tostones and the empanadas were my favorite. I also had a maracuya juice, which was sweet and refreshing. We really liked our waiter, we was very nice and attentive. I wish I remembered his name to give him a shout out. I really enjoy the food from Orinoco. Historically, I had only gone to the restaurant in the South End but I'm glad to see the one at Harvard Square maintains the same flavors. I can't wait to be back for arepas.

I believe our waitress was Sylvanna. We ordered Sangria, a Negro Modela, & a hot tea to drink. For appetizers we chose the Trio De Empanadas (Queso Blanco, Domino, & Mechada) we added a single Verde. They were served perfectly cooked, and once we divided each one into thirds they cooled to a comfortable eating temperature. They were served with a garlic sauce, (aioli based?) that was delicious. I think our favorite was the Verde (I believe it had mushrooms & peppers in it). For our entrees, we ordered the Cordera, Costillita, & Parailla Caraquena. My husband loves lamb and was very happy with the Cordera. The Costillita was baby back ribs that were tender and flavorful. The Parailla Caraquena was grilled chicken, a portion of steak, and chorizo. My husband and I normally don't like chorizo but theirs was spicy but not greasy. Two of our plates came with fried yuca. I had never had this before and it reminded me of a large French fry. We did not have room for dessert, maybe next time.

We ordered drinks and food, and the drinks came out quickly. However, we ended up waiting over an hour for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't busy at all (we were one of two other groups). To make things more frustrating, the tables who arrived after us were already being served. About 30 minutes after ordering food, our waiter came by and asked if we wanted anything else, and we said no, we were just waiting on our food. He said okay, but then didn't check on us again for another 30 minutes. When we finally asked about the delay, he responded, "that's why I asked you before," which felt dismissive and confusing, considering he was the one who forgot to put the order in. By the time the food arrived, it was actually really good, but the experience had already been overshadowed by the long wait and lack of communication. Really wanted to love this place. I would give them a second chance.
