We got their just before they oppened up.Didnt realize you had to order your food at counter, no table service. Friendly lady greeted us as we came in.. The guy at the counter seemed flustered ,was on phone. Then first sign was no cauliflower bites, which wife was looking forward to. Ordered some cajun sweet potato fries, and sliders and a double smash burger. I love the look of the restaurant as it is in a.Historic building. Has that early 1900 vibe. They have a Happy Hour from 4-6 items that arent on their posted menu so look at the small sign posted on the tables.. also they posted up a sign in the front of their restaurant on the sidewalk after we entered with a bunch of other menu items that are on their regular menu. As far as our food goes, burger was average the chicken sliders, wete very dry, wife, had to use some of my mayonnaise from my burger, there there was no ranch to be found on there. Both the cajun, sweet potato fries and my waffle fries with my burger. Seemed like they had been cooked too long. And on their menu online , on their website they had soup listed, wife asked about the soup, they said they had none today. I was really looking forward to this restaurant due to all of the reviews on Facebook. I left there feeling let down , i really hope this restaurant improves, being in a small town., small business

Easy solid five. They clearly Love what they do. It's food that will hit you in the "feels" ...one of the best burgers I've had in forever. Super friendly. Reasonable $$$ for the quality. And they've got a decent happy hour. We'd try to do them a few times previously over the weekends but they were too busy for me; which is good for them, really. They deserve it. I also initially thought ordering at the bar was a bit persnickety... but I get it and just rolled with it. Cauliflower bites were delicious as were the fat pork tacos. Juicy plump ones. Nom nom nom yum yum!

So I'd heard about Capricious and wanted to try it for a couple weeks. Tonight, I finally moseyed out to Newberry proper from the outskirts of Newberry where I live and tried it out--and very glad I did. First off, the interior is utterly stunning. And I was talking with the owner and she did a lot of the renovations herself! Very astute adaptive reuse of an historic building and very tasteful and welcoming with its exposed original brick, paintings on the walls, shelved books from the owner's grandfather, and other choice details. It feels classy but welcoming and informal. You could come here on a nice date but I didn't feel awkward walking in wearing boardshorts and Converse, either. The owner and her staff are very friendly and like their restaurant, welcoming and informal. The menu is eclectic and expansive, also changes pretty often apparently. I ordered the fish tacos and had them blackened instead of fried. They were very good, pretty spicy, and of ample size which is nice because plenty of places give you very meager little tacos--but not here, three decent-sized ones. I'm really glad this place has opened up because Newberry needed something like this and everything seems literally spot-on, no aspect where I can really complain at all. I don't know what if any desserts they had but suspect they have some--I'd already gotten donuts from the bakery next door (which I also very much recommend). They don't serve lunch yet but the owner told me it's in the works.

Amazing food and ambiance! Love this place. We have been here several times and recommend this to everyone! Chicken Milanese and blackened chicken pasta are fantastic.

From the moment you walk in, you will be charmed by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor strikes the perfect balance between cozy and elegant, making it a wonderful spot for both casual meals and special occasions. The food was outstanding--every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. If you're looking for a local gem with fantastic food and a relaxed, charming vibe, I highly recommend Capricious Local Eatery.

The food is prepared fresh and very flavorful with different items added all the time. This keeps us coming back just to see what's new coming from the chef. Staff is supper friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this casual friendly local restaurant and bar.

Love that they had a small menu, food was very delicious, service was just a tad confusing as to whether you ordered drinks at the bar or you had a server come to your table. But every encounter we had with the server was very good. The ambience was very low-key and quiet and kind of chill which was really nice. Wasn't noisy. Could have a nice conversation.

Cool spot! We sat the bar and had a great dinner. The food was delicious and the staff was kind and attentive. We will be back! Such a cool menu.

A real find in Newberry. Low key ambiance but a major step above the sports bar atmosphere so many of the local places have. A wide range of salads, shareable small plates, sandwiches and a few dinner entrees. Lots of vegetarian options. Food is different without being weird, and I've loved everything I've tried here. Order at the counter, they bring the food to your table. House wines are very drinkable and a steal at $6 for a generous pour.

Tried this new spot on a whim for date night. Definitely not disappointed! The ambiance was beautiful, attention to detail 10/10, the owner (who took our order) was super kind and had many recommendations. We went with all of them and the food was outstanding! Highly recommend!

The place is cute, but the food is terrible. They are trying hard but the food reminds me of a kiosk at an airport or mall.

I went to college in San Diego so I know when tacos and burritos are good. Let me tell you, this place ranks among the best tacos/burritos/fries I've ever had. During our previous visit, my wife and I tried their California Burrito, with carnitas for my wife and carne asada for me. Both burritos were bursting with flavors and were served in generous portions...we couldn't finish all of it. This time, we ordered the Bowl with Carne Asada for me and Carnitas for my wife. My mom tried their California Burrito 3 fish tacos. We were also served a flavorful dip that is not yet on the menu that the owner plans on adding soon...it'll be called Mama's Dip. It was so good, we can't stop eating it with chips. My wife actually just ate that with chips and took home the bowl. I too liked that dip very much that I too packed my bowl to go! The owner shared that they started the business 12 years ago and moved to the Newberry location 6 years ago. There's a reason they've been recognized for their food. Everything was prepared well, flavorful and freshly made. We learned they make everything in house from fresh ingredients...nothing frozen nor canned. Such care and attention to detail elevates the dining experience and raises the bar for fast casual Mexican restaurants. Clean space with friendly service and vibes. We will surely be back!

Arepa Milko: The Venezuelan Food Truck Turned Restaurant You Need to Try…read more If you haven't been to Arepa Milko yet: it's authentic Venezuelan dishes, delicious food and a spot that's grown from humble food truck beginnings into a legit foodie destination. Here's why this place is an absolute must-visit: Start with Tequeños (Trust Me) Begin your meal with an appetizer--yes, fried. Tequeños. Or as I like to call them: TequeñYES! These traditional Venezuelan cheese sticks had a golden crunch and released a mouthwatering aroma that hinted at the cheesy goodness inside. And that vibrant green sauce? Game over ranch. It's tangy, addictive, and honestly deserves a spot next to ranch in the sauce hall of fame. Bold claim, I know -- but it's that good. Sandwiches That'll Ruin You (In the Best Way) I tried Milko's Pulled Chicken Sandwich. That crispy fried cheese acted like food glue, holding together all the Venezuelan magic inside. The pulled chicken was juicy and flavorful, blending into every unforgettable bite. I also had the Patacón Tostón Sandwich with Pernil (slow-roasted pork). This is not your average sandwich -- it's a specialty you won't find just anywhere. The crispy green plantain "buns" were absolute perfection: crunchy on the outside, yet tender enough to hold all the layers together without falling apart. The layering? Impeccable. The juicy, seasoned pork stole the spotlight without overpowering the plantains. Every bite was an explosion of textures and bold flavors -- the kind of messy, glorious meal. Oh, and the portions? Generous doesn't even begin to cover it. Save Room for Dessert (Seriously) I even got to meet the owner, who was incredibly kind and recommended the Nutella-filled Tequeños for dessert. OH. MY. GOODNESS. Absolute perfection. Warm, gooey Nutella wrapped in that crispy tequeño shell? It's everything you never knew you needed. If you've never tried a sweet twist on this iconic Venezuelan snack, consider this your official sign. Zero regrets. Zero crumbs left behind. The Vibe at Arepa Milko blends casual comfort and self-service. The original food truck still proudly stands outside, keeping the story alive. But step inside, and you'll find indoor seating, air conditioning, and an upgraded space perfect for enjoying every bite without battling the Florida heat. Final Verdict If you're looking to experience authentic Venezuelan flavors and discover rare gems like the Patacón, Arepa Milko needs to be on your foodie bucket list. From street food roots to full-on restaurant glow-up, they've earned their spot in North Florida's food hall of fame. Come hungry. Leave obsessed. #NewberryEats #VenezuelanFood #ArepaMilko #FoodieAdventures #TequeñoLove #CrunchGoals #NorthFLEats
