Tried to place an order online. Spent 15 minutes making my selection only to get a message at checkout that they were not accepting online orders between 4 and 6 and to call in to place an order. Tried to call in only to find that they take the phone off the hook and don't take any calls If your going to have online ordering and shut it down how about not wasting customers time and just put the message at the beginning. Also if you say to call in maybe have someone to answer the phone. When customers want to support your business give them the courtesy of good customer service. Does not matter how good your food is if your service leaves a bad taste in their mouth. read more

So glad they have veggie options! Rare in a sandwich shop, rarer in a true deli like this one. Unfortunately, the veggie chicken was a little strange-- very squeaky in texture. The tuna was better, but I'm still not sure if I'd run back. Especially because of the incredibly inefficient layout of the shop-- TONS of room behind the counter while customers squeeze in front of it to order. And no seating at all, outdoor or indoor. We usually order are the turkey subs that's made with real turkey meats. They have impossible meats available for vegetarians. We ordered a impossible cheesesteak & it tasted delicious too. The food and sizes are 4 stars. But the customer service is 1 star at best. This is the only sub shop that has the turkey subs we like. It maybe a monopoly which could be the reason they're not too concerned how they treat their customers. A few times they gave me the wrong order, didn't make my order of which I called it in 2 hours ago, had to wait over 30 minutes believing they were making my order as I sat in my car, when they forgot about it. I loved their sandwiches and I liked the staff here by and large. I went last week and love the sandwiches so much that I drive from Philly, pick-up the sandwich, and drive back. Well when I got home and took sandwich out of the bag, it felt lighter than in the past. The bread was still good, meat good, stuffing and cranberry were all on point. This was the first visit since they've changed their sizes... the small cheese steak had so little meat in it that it wasn't worth the price. There couldn't have been more then 2 slices of steak chopped up on it! Absolutely no value for the price. I ordered my sub without seasonings and came home to find seasonings all over it. Capriotti's makes the best hoagie in Delaware, hands down. The type of hoagies they make you can't find anywhere else. The are famous for a hoagie called The Bobbie...it's Thanksgiving on a long roll. Fresh sliced homemade turkey (real Tukey, not deli meat), cranberry sauce, stuffing, and mayo. This sandwich is so good that I, a person who doesn't like turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce or mayo, found this hoagie delectable. Seriously, I don't even eat these things at Thanksgiving and would have never tried it if multiple friends didn't coax me into it. Talk about good peer pressure. My advice: go to Capriotti's and try a Bobbie, you won't be disappointed. Capriotti's is a big chain although it doesn't seem like one. I've had the eggplant parm and the "Bobbie" from this location. Both sandwiches were very good and a great deal for the money too. This is take-out only, but the lunchtime rush makes this place feel like a New York deli. Call ahead or expect to wait a long time. I have eaten at two of the Capriotti's locations. The food is very good I like the slaw be joe sandwich and the grand slam club. Plus I can get a fresh sandwich for $5. The reason I don't give this location more stars is the staff. When you call to place the order the people answering the phone are very blunt and you can hear they are irritated that you called. Even when you pick up the food they very rarely smile and make can make you feel uncomfortable. Now the one I go to in New Castle has a wonderful staff. I don't care how busy they are and believe me thru the week at lunch time it can take up to 5 10 minutes just to get thru on the phone to place your order they are always friendly and pleasant. And they are the same way when you pick up your order. This location could definitely learn a lot about how to treat your customers from the one in New Castle. read more

Subway Sandwich are much better. This place is not clean and maintained. The employees working here do not care for customer's order and they do not pay attention to the order. Especially when it is only to go order - they should be very careful to the order. It is very upsetting to find out that your whole order is messed up and it is not eatable! You wasted your lunch or dinner plan and money. The quality of the ingredients used is very low level and get you sick. This shop is the Bee's Knees!!! They make subs there NOT hogies. Everything is fresh and some ingredients are made right there. The subs are huge and tasty. I'm not often in that part of the state but there sure as heck isn't anything like it near Centreville so when I am out that way I make sure to stop in and fetch a REAL sub ( not one of those Wawa things made from Oscar Mayer lunch meat and yesterday's produce). After arriving in Philadelphia, we drove half an hour out of our way in order to get the Italian subs that we love and cannot get in California. No one does them like Capriotti's - and this one is in my husband's old neighborhood, so it requires a pilgrimage to his old house as well. When you get a sub (hoagie, whatever) in California, you're lucky to get two slices of meat and maybe one or two of cheese. I love Capriotti's but they WILL NOT make my sandwich the way I ask. They want to argue with you and then make it the way THEY want. And I hate that. Also they have a thing where you get a receipt to call in to get a discount, but they will not give it to you unless you ask and then they want to be testy about it. I go to Capriotti's at least 4 to 5 times a month, but after another failed Turkey Sub on yesterday, I believe I am going to leave them alone and that is such a shame because I really do like them, but I feel like I am just giving them free money to do what they want and it is too expensive. read more

When I called to complain, the staff and manager accused me of leaving the sandwich on their shelf for 2 hours, that is why the bread was so soggy. Capprioti's is a no frills sandwich shop that is apparently famous in Delaware. The restaurant proudly touts to have the number one sandwich in the US, the Bobbie. Upon closer inspection though, the source of the ranking came from AOL. Those of us who grew up during the rise of dial up internet remember AOL as one of the only providers who faded into obscurity after DSL came out. Alas, I was suspicious. I ordered a medium sized and was impressed - it was huge. Unlike Subway, Capprioti's does not skimp out on the foot long. It's large sandwich size, which is 20 bucks, comes in a grocery bag. The medium Bobbie was more than enough. We drove about 20 minutes to get to the office and I was worried the sandwich would be soggy. It strangely wasn't - I realized that the turkey was dry enough that it was absorbing all the moisture provided by the mayo. The filling was probably the saving grace of the sandwich - it was flavorful and pretty moist. Everything else was dry and a bit excessive. I ended up finishing about only three fourths of the sandwich. I thought the Bobbie wasn't great but the menu seemed to offer other solid options as well. I might give it a try again. read more

This place never answers the phone I usually have to call two or three times, and I have seen them stand there watching the phone ring and not answering it on multiple occasions when I'm picking up my food. This is becoming so inconvenient I may not eat here anymore despite it being one of the only decent takeout places around the area. The workers here are sometimes lazy and rude.
