This Silverside Rd shop has extremely rude staff. This was our 2nd order that was completely wrong. They entered the order wrong and then also gave us wrong sizes. We called for the second error only and expected maybe a credit. Instead she was rude, read the ticket, we stated it was incorrect to what we ordered, she said the employees can only go off the ticket. Stated we don't give credit and bring the sandwiches back and they could remake but they were closing so hurry up. I said we wanted credit and she said that's the policy if I don't like it nothing they will do and hung up on me! Worst staffing rapport ever! So I never write reviews. I think it's a waste of time. My hope is that Capriottis owner or manager reads this and the place changes. The food is great. I've always liked it but the customer service is so bad that I actually detest going in there. I've never met a group of ruder unhappy people in my life. I'm guessing it's a bad manager who is hiring his friends(or ex cons or something) because I literally have to muster up the courage to go in that place because I feel so unwelcome. We stopped here to get sandwiches based upon the reviews here on Yelp. The staff were very unfriendly, no one said hello or where to go to order when we asked. My sandwich did not come as I had ordered it. I specifically asked for mayo and it had no condiments on it what so ever. The meat had an unusual flavor that all three of us did not care for. The person making the sandwich informed me she made an error in the size made and wanted to "make sure I knew this wasn't the right size in case we order it again not to expect this again". I've eaten at this Capriotti's since I was a child and have always loved their bobbie's and Italian hoagies. Unfortunately my husband and I ordered both the Friday before Christmas and both got horrible food poisoning. I'm not sure what went wrong with their food but I'm extremely disappointed. I just had to write an up-date because I have had the Veggie Burger. Now I by NO MEANS feel that this is a "healthy" alternative but O MY GOD IT IS GOOD. I finally got a chance to try Capriotti's. I tried one time for dinner but their 7pm closing isn't very convenient for customers, but maybe it's just their way of looking out for their employees. I had heard the Bobbie is all the rage, but I wasn't in the mood for stuffing so I went with the Cole Turkey instead. The sub was good, but it reminded me of eating a tuna sandwich because the shredded turkey was essentially drenched in mayo and topped with slaw and dressing, it is also served cold. Pretty good just not what I expected based on the photo I saw on their menu (go figure). Their pricing can seem expensive to a first time customer, but once you consider what a small, medium, large is really like it all makes sense. I ordered a "small" which is supposedly 9", now I wasn't carrying around my ruler with me but that thing had to be bigger than that! It has to be God awful for me to leave a bad review. It was just that. I walked in to pick up my order. I saw two people standing at the pickup line. Apparently a short lady was blocked from my view. A big guy behind the counter was literally screaming at me to get out because only 3 people could be inside. The 3 people were on top of each other in the pickup line and there was at least 20 feet of linear space along the counter but I stood outside as instructed. I paid nearly $10 for a small cheesesteak that looked like it had been made with 2 minute steaks and a half a head of lettuce. This was my first and last visit to this location. There's a right and wrong way to speak to people and this business needs lessons in basic customer service and humanity. I'm honestly not sorry for yelling back at the big man before I went to wait outside. One of the best places to get a sub in Delaware. The turkey sub is to die for. I personally am not a fan of the Bobbie, but know many people who swear by it. Just had the large turkey sub that cost $14.00 and was able to get two whole meals out of it for two people. Staff is here is hardworking and efficient. As Jill K points out, the staff does not engage in too much chit-chat; they are working hard and cranking out orders. Always a busy place, but you can usually get in and out in no time. One of the only sub shops I know of that use roasted turkey instead of deli. 4 stars for their specialties! Im a fan of their Capastramis. Warm pastrami layered with swiss cheese, cole slaw and russian dressing. The combination is a delight to eat! My absolute favorite is their Bobbie. A very comforting Thanksgiving turkey dinner served in a fresh roll! Roasted turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, a little mayo and a lot of love! I found this place on my GPS when I was in DE shopping. Stopped in and was really excited to find that they offered a vegetarian turkey sub. Yes, that's right, vegetarian turkey. The cheesesteaks are the best around...not QUIET as good as shops in Philly, but close. I will break this down by sandwich type. Turkey? Excellent, the best around. Other subs (e.g., italian, etc) are good. They use a decent amount of meet, good seasoning and veggies. Cheesesteak? I find them weak. Not as good as Claymont. So I go for the subs, mainly the turkey. The staff act like they are on death row - on a good day they are efficient, watch out on a bad one. read more

Bread is always fresh, staff friendly and helpful. We are on a tight budget but we will make an exception for a Bobbie. :) Definitely worth it. I've always gone to the one on Union and I"ve been to this one once or twice. I was delighted to find a Capriotti's by where I work in Glen Mills. It is in what I think is an odd spot, but people find it, it is always crowded. Don't let a line intimidate you, they are fast moving!! Subs (aka "hoagie sandwiches") are fantastic here. Been a loyal customer for more than 10 years now. I love their Italian, Tuna, and Mushroom-Cheese Steak Sandwiches. Almost as good as Penny-Hill Deli, but they shut down years ago. :-( Try Cap's new salads! My favorite is the "Black & Blue" - iceberg lettuce with roast beef and blue cheese crumbles on top.
