Great local dive! The steak and cheese was delicious, not greasy at all and terrific roll. Service was friendly and fast. Ambiance was what you'd expect for a carry-out with a lot seating. Had a very pleasant conversation about family businesses. Staff was very friendly and patient during our first visit. We will be stopping by anytime we are in Wilmington. You must try the Nigerian!! I'm still not sure about this cheesesteak. It had a sneaky good amount of meat and a sneaky lot of grease/oil. The fried onions were much hotter than the meat which at times was very uncomfortably for my mouth. $17.75 for the combo and it was definitely big enough to share. Plenty of tables and a bathroom. Easily one of the best sandwich shops in Wilmington Delaware. I have been coming here for years and their hoagies are always consistent and never disappoint. You can get your sandwich in a variety of sizes and with your choice of accompaniments at no extra charge except for hot peppers. Now not everyone does a corned beef hoagie. It's definitely one of my favorites especially when the meat is so beautifully lean (see photo below) and not chocked full of gristle and scraps (like some other place I know-looking at you Sciarrinos). This large hoagie cost me 12.85 and will easily feed me twice. A winner, hands down. read more

This is a pretty good sandwich place. Nothing fancy but good sandwiches. I had a small cheesesteak. It was a little dry but not bad. The old bay fries I got were a nice touch though practically all of their ketchup bottles were empty. My aunt got the pastrami which I enjoyed a lot more. She complained that that was dry too but it tasted good to me. The onion rings were huge but the batter was not tasty. Service was good, staff here seems to care about what they do. The food is good, they have my favorite cheesteaks in Wilmington. I love their crinkle fries. The service is very slow because they're always busy. I'll call in an order, they'll say pick up in 20 minutes, I'll stop by in 20 minutes and have to wait 5-10 minutes more. Today there was a line of at least 10 people waiting to pay for their call in orders. The subs are goods do they fill them up with lots of toppings. The large sub is HUGE and can easily feed 2-3 people depending how hungry they are. Overall it's a good sub shop if you're not in a rush. read more

There was a time, when Olympics was our first stop when visiting. My favorite and to me the best cheesesteaks in the area. The last two times have been the worst. This afternoon the service took a little longer but we patiently wanted to enjoy our favorite dishes, however I got mushroom cheesesteak that was lacking everything, especially the love. The meat, onions and mushrooms are usually overflowing were you can't even close the roll. This was like a where's the beef experience? I didn't have time to express my dissatisfaction because I needed to get back to work to pay for this undelightful sub. The Subs here make me want to live in DE!!! We visited Wilmington, DE for my DH line brother's wedding. While he was running around with the groom I went for a walk looking for something good in DE to eat and ran into this place!!!! HANDS DOWN, I am glad I did run into this place, the Steak and Cheese Sub was the BEST! I mean I bought one for myself and one for my DH and before he got back to the room I CRUSHED his! LOL!! Wow, just wow. Olympic put me in one of those rare situations of befuddlement at not getting anything close to what I expected. I went for the "small" Nigerian, at $9.50 I thought 'This place is steep!'. I swung round the counter to wait. When it came, that's when the befuddlement began, they call this a small?! It's a bit deceiving, this stack of meat, they build the sandwich with a hairline layer of meat, then all the fixings, then they pile meat on top for a dramatically delicious sub. It was perfect, great meaty flavor mixed with all the trimmings on one of those fantastic, chewy, fresh sub rolls. I LOVED it. With that said even I thought almost $13 for a large chicken cheesesteak was a bit steep. Worth every single penny! There's a couple sub shops in downtown wilmington. I think the meat at Bain's deli is better, it's on the same street but further towards the riverfront. Prices are your average deli prices (6.50 for a sandwich). At bain's deli, my Italian sandwich was closer to $7 but it was bigger and higher quality meat (better salami). If you're looking for a number, I'd say 7.9. Easily. This is in comparison to originals. I will say with the proper roll, which was a little soft. Needs a good outer crunch, but doughy inside, Olympic would easily conquer some of the "right over the bridge" places. I'm going 9.5. Yes, they're that good. First of all, the bread was fantastic. The sizes are ridiculous. I would say my cheesesteak taste-wise was probably a 3 out of 5. As someone else mentioned, not super "beef" flavor and a bit light on the provolone. When you're going to eat something that probably takes a month or so off your life you really want it to be great. The old bay crinkly fries were fine, and the Maryland style (Delaware style?) crab soup was very tasty and full of crab.
