Being ignored for that long while others moved through quickly made me feel unwelcome and singled out. Whether intentional or not, the way this was handled came across as discriminatory and needs to be addressed. I hope management takes this seriously, looks into what happened, and ensures that all customers are treated fairly and respectfully.

I spied hand-poured candles, bespoke essential oil fragrances, crocheted stuffed animals, books published by local authors, kitchen goods, jewelry, magnets, gift cards, clothing, and even food items like local honey and peanut butter. I spent a little while browsing and I wanted all of the things. There's just something about gifts made by someone with intention and love. When I finally made my way to the coffee counter, I ordered not my standard black coffee, but a chai latte. Do you know why? Because I freakin' could! The chai latte was made with whole milk, and it was delicious all the way to the end. Coffee beverages come in two sizes: 12 ounces and 16 ounces. They also have baked goods, like pastries, bagels, muffins, croissants, and even a chocolate-filled waffle. I also saw that they offer avocado toast and bagel sandwiches. There are a few tables inside this cozy coffee shop, located near the counter where you order. Housed in a community center of a local church, the environment has dim lighting and soft music. A perfect place to get focused and stay focused. They have a coffee bar that also offers a few food options. The coffee is good and very affordable. The staff is always friendly. There is usually only one person staffing the coffee shop, but they get to your order quickly. You just may have to wait if there is a large group, as happened to me once. But no worries. Simply have a seat and get to work, and they will call your name when your beverage and/or food is ready to pickup. The Haverstick is less a coffee shop and more a community shared-space work environment that offers coffee. They have a lot of comfortable chairs and tables of various sizes. The room is wide open and you never feel crowded, even if there is a decent amount of people. However, it's usually only a handful of other people around, so it's a great place to get things done. The table reservations are $40, but once you arrive, that money becomes credit to be used in the store for food, drinks, games, etc. They have a coffee shop in the back with elixers, coffee and tea, and a small assortment of baked goods. They also have a large selection of brand new games and game novelties for purchase. In the very back, behind the coffee counter is a selection of games that can be played while in the store. There is no charge for those. You cannot bring your own food or drink in. The table reservations are for 2 hrs I believe. They also do events in the store like D&D.

I also got a chocolate chip cookie, because it had fleur de sel on it. I love sweet things with salt on them! I like to think I'm a chocolate chip cookie connoisseur, and I can spot a great CCC just by glancing at it. I wasn't even in the mood for a cookie, but after looking at the cookies in the display case, I had to get a chocolate chip cookie because I knew it would be amazing. I told myself that I would take it home and eat it later, but I ended up eating it in my car. You guys. The chocolate chip cookies at Hitherto are perfect. I don't know if they make them in-house or source them from elsewhere, but if you want a little sweet treat and you're not sure what to get (they have lots of delicious-looking baked goods), get the chocolate chip cookie with fleur de sel. It's a good thing. The space inside the coffee shop is so cozy and inviting. It's a small space, but when I visited, there were plenty of tables available. Some people were tucked into a corner playing board games, some people were behind laptops working, and some were chatting with friends. It was a nice vibe, and I'm so glad a place like this exists in Indy. I just wish it were located closer to me! Part of the shop is a space dedicated to new board games that you can purchase. They had lots of games for all ages and interests, and even my oldest kid's favorite board game, Splendor. They also have board games that you can borrow and play at your table. Bonus: They play good music here! Hitherto was exactly where I should have been at that very moment on Friday morning, and do you know why? The soup came with croutons, if you wished to add a little crunch to the creaminess. The people behind the counter were super friendly and efficient. They have to be, because Cabin Coffee also has a drive-thru, so they're helping customers from every angle. The inside of the cafe really does look like a cabin. There's also a little nook for kids with a mini table and chairs. There's also a semi-private meeting room, which I saw was reserved for a Bible study group.
