We had a great server, Michael. We sat outside with a view of the river, very tranquil spot to have dinner. We order peel and eat shrimp as an appetizer, highly recommend. Served hot with old bay seasoning and butter. We also order a Reuben and beer batter fries. A minor up-charge but delicious. We met JoJac the Perot. He lives at the restaurant. Had friends come in from California. Brought them here for local food since it has been here forever. Bartender was fun and entertaining and helped my friends find the right beer. The waitress was nice. The food was just okay. I had wings but the flavor was lacking. My friend said her taco salad was just okay. The hushpuppies were good. We absolutely love it! If you go during a warm summer night you'll probably see alligators in the water off the dock. The food is delicious and so are the drinks! We've been a few times and the waitresses we've had were all very friendly and great customer service! We absolutely will be going back once the weather gets warmer! read more

This place is great! The crab is fresh & crispy. The menu has a great selections. The clam chowder with the addition of the fried crab is out of the world. The tuna steak was excellent. Bad: Host wasn't too welcoming. The she crab soup was on the salty side. My first drink order was wrong. My entree wasn't completely right but still good. Server seemed like he was ready to go home. I give it a 3 really based on service. When people don't seem like they want to be there you can feel it. For the prices I expect there to be better service and when you mess up do service recovery. It can be small and not always comping something big, even offering a coffee, especially when people are spending 30+ on an entree. I don't even know where to begin. This was hands down the worst customer service I've ever experienced at a cafe. My husband and I came into this place starving hoping to enjoy a great meal, but our table was neglected service, while other tables near ours received basic services. The staff acted like they were doing us a favor just by acknowledging our existence when we first entered. We sat at our table for a full twenty minutes and still no one came over to at least take our drinks order. Despite there being three employees attending all other tables they decided to ignore ours. The chef himself even came out just to read the specials to the table behind us and didn't even acknowledge us. We left frustrated, starving, and determined never to return. Didn't stay - Greeting at the door was terrible. Thought it was hilarious we had a 7 month old with us because "they don't do high chairs" ... but we brought our own seat for her so it didn't matter . It stunk in there, floors were gross and everything felt greasy. We opted to sit outside for this reason, only to see it wasn't much better, right next to a docking spot so it was trashed and stunk like gas. We sat down, it was super sunny and hot , every table had an umbrella on it, they looked like brand new - except he told us we were not allowed to put it up...NO it wasn't windy and nor was it busy. Walked in and walked right back out after seeing a big fat 75 posted inside for their sanitation/health score that was performed 4 days ago. I travel weekly for work and this is the lowest score I've seen in years. Was excited to eat by the water but glad NC requires restaurants to post inspections (results are public). I haven't been here in a long time. Went for Mother's Day and I can't complain. My mothers meal was free with desert which was not expected. Our server was amazing and very hospitable. The food was great as expected. It's fresh and hot when it gets to you. They also give you a very generous portion to eat. Now, you do wait a bit and some of the decor is not great but the wait and all is very worth it. Always be back. read more

My husband and I experienced unpleasant service the first time we dined here; however I wanted to try again, because we enjoyed the food. I loved the vibe. Super laid-back. We gave it another chance, and guess what? The service continued to get better every-time!! I recommend the Coastal Carolina Crab Dip, and Loaded French Fries if you're hungry for an appetizer. The fried flounder sandwich, reuben, and French dip with French onion soap are my favorites. My husband prefers the hot italian sub though. From driving by the outside, I didn't even know this place was open, except for the cars in the parking lot. It looks run down. Not even a legible sign, I don't think. However, like I said, there's always car there. My Mom was in town and wanted to eat somewhere on the water and with limited choices for that in Jacksonville, we gave it a try. I was surprised when I walked in. It does not look as bad on the inside. We asked to sit outside and the waitress warned us that the flies were particularly bad that evening because of the weather as of late, but we opted to try. I can deal with regular flies, but these were like mayflies and would bite you, so we did end up moving back inside. However, the sunset over the water was just gorgeous. The outside seating was cute and showed real promise. I'm sorry we didn't get to stay out there. The waitresses were so, so kind. From the moment we walked in until we left, we received great service. Service can totally make or or break an experience and they were great. The food was... fine. It's like cheap diner food, I would say. It didn't taste bad, but it's not gourmet of any sort. Although the inside is better than the outside, it could still use some TLC. We have visited here twice from PA. While in town visiting our Marine son, we ran across this establishment several years ago. It was a fun place to dine and food was good. We recently were in town again and were in search of a place that was dog friendly. We were delighted this place came up! Again, third time was a charm. Great service, fun place to sit and talk with friends and family. Staff were incredibly accommodating to our bulldogs! Such a relief as we found our selves with a few hours to pass while we waited for our family member to join us. I truly can't say enough about this place, one of the best atmospheres if you are looking for a local, fun time. I am confident in saying it is not "The Ritz" as I am sure they are not trying to be. Got the fried shrimp. Everyone's food was piping hot and delicious. Service was great and we sat riverside which was absolutely beautiful.

This is just a yelp review and won't change anything. Do not order the "Shrimp Fajita" from here the fajitas portion size is definitely not worth the price and is OVERSEASONED. The picture I attached is the blue and yellow macaw at the restaurant; I don't know if they leave it there for the day and take it home at night; but the cage if so tiny and filthy, they provide it no shade and open water source is not a necessity but it is recommended-Instead of a small water bottle. The animals bottom of the cage is dirty and filled with ants- and I get it's outside but it looks like it's sitting there for a long time. The bird was dirty, I know it's a wild animal but if it's a pet it should be taken care of properly. At least the fries were good. read more

This place was amazing. Definitely a hidden gem. Our server Michael was amazing and super calming and friendly! Eat outside for the full experience. First of all it's beautiful on the water. Looks like Florida for sure! They are doing some renovations inside. I had the quesadilla YUM ! Oysters and steamers all good too.
