The atmosphere here is really nice, but unfortunately the service was pretty disappointing. The older woman server was not friendly and didn't take my drink or bite order correctly. I mentioned several times that I didn't want something added to my drink, but she completely disregarded it. I also ordered a small bite and was surprised to see an extra charge for a condiment that's normally available in a bottle yet they added it as a "side." The food itself was pretty bland. This place has potential and could be great with better staff, but I prefer to support spots where the employees actually enjoy what they do. I'm honestly over giving the benefit of the doubt to people who clearly don't care about providing good service. So over having to accept mediocrity and expecting a high value tip. NEXT! I love the quirky ambience of Captain Jack's, and we visited many times for the bar food and well prepared drinks. The interior is cute too. Parking is very tight so don't bring your big truck! The food is primarily bar food. Most of it is acceptable however do not order the clams. On our last visit, I made that horrible mistake: I got the worst case of horrible food poisoning from their clams. I will never order seafood at this place again. read more

Local dive bar with eclectic, 19th century saloon style ambiance. The food is good, drinks are stiff and inexpensive. Clientele is mostly locals, people are nice and social. Pool tables, darts, music, etc. Out door seating is on a grassy knoll near working railroad tracks, literally within a few feet of the fence line with running trains a few times daily roaring by. Atmosphere is a true neighborhood dive bar, in the best way. Visited right after open on a Friday for the fish & chips special which comes with house made clam chowder. Fish was good, cod which I like. Chowder was full of clams and delicious. Tad bit thick for my liking but still yummy. I've gone a few times. The waitresses/bartenders are usually rude and not very personable. I guess They are More concerned with trying to look cute or something. The drinks are Bad. Dirty cups. The floor is about to fall in. Awesome family owned dive bar with great food, daily specials and cold beer always on tap. Service can be a little slow when they are busy so you may have to visit the bar on your own occasionally. Lots of TV's, pool, darts and other fun events there. Fun place! read more

Captain Jack's is an amazing little hole in the wall bar! Even though it's right next to the freeway, it was surprisingly pretty quiet. The decor was so cool! The outdoor seating was very spacious. No feeling of being cramped out there! A friend and I went to lunch. She got chicken strips with fries. She said her food was prefect! I got the clam strips and fries. The clam strips were spot on! Not chewy. The fries were good too. We each got a couple of beers and a mixed drink. The bartender that was there was really sweet and very accommodating. We stopped by to play to play some pool and have a drink knowing it was a dive bar but we were intrigued. The place was exactly that but liked that there were some pool tables and dart boards. The bartenders were kind and quick. And then it happened we were sitting by the pool table and a giant RAT walked across the floor and made its way over behind the black leather booth. I could not believe my eyes. Took about 10 min to get first drinks. Ordered food and took a good 30 min. Ordered flatbread pizza and the grinder sandwich with fries. Pizza was undercooked, flatbread was still chewy, pineapple looked and was the temperature straight out of the can. Cheese in top wasn't even cooked. Grinder sandwich had 3 thin slices of meat, fries looked like they were still frozen. They were warm but well undercooked. Decided to leave after this and told bartender and was still charged full price for everything. Only told that the cook has been there long enough to know better. Will not be back. read more

I like dive bars and I love the concept here...the floors are battered and worn and the space is open and you almost feel like you're at the edge of the sea. Lots of TVs and the outdoor seating area is cool. But I sat at the bar and was not made to feel welcome. I had to beg for a menu and they wouldn't take my order. The two irritable bartender women and the schlubby cook were just not very friendly and two of them spent most of their time texting. The dead end parking lot is usually crammed with bikers, but most are the "look I bought a do-rag" phony tough guys. Looks like this place does well, but it could be SO much more. read more

Pirates and Bikers Galore! This little nugget is directly across from the Old Cannery Warehouse in Sumner, snuggled up against the railroad tracks. They've got a decent sized parking lot, as well as additional gravel lot parking. I was hungover and starving, and accepted an invite from a friend to celebrate her birthday there. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is that the floor is wood planking, and it gives a little bit in some spots. This place has a low ceiling, to which are attached many beer/racing/pirate/seagoing related items. There's also a bear on a motorcycle in one corner. Truly kitsch, but also very, very cool! I ordered up a bacon cheeseburger, and although it wasn't anything spectacular, it hit the spot. Salty crinkle-cut fries accompanied the beef. Good stuff, Maynard! My drink of choice was Bud Light bottles, and every one that was served up was chilled to perfection. Ahhh... There was certainly an eclectic mix of patrons, from the old, grizzled, road-hard biker veterans to the pimp daddy in his white suit, the frat-boys, the Farmer Teds, a buttrocker or three ("duuude, I'm so wasted!), and all in between. Oh, and yes, some good lookin' ladies, too! Flat screen TVs are just about everywhere you look, and their jukebox heavily favors classic rock and roll tunes, although at one point in the evening, it appeared that someone stuck in enough money to play just about an hour's worth of Iron Maiden. The owner was constantly moving around, visiting with everyone, checking up on them and just generally making you feel very welcome, extending a hand and introducing himself to all. A real friendly, no pressure, no "games" atmosphere, for sure! I'd be willing to bet that if a month goes by before my next visit, he'll probably recognize me, and ask where I've been. Service tends to be a bit slow, if you are a "professional" drinker, so you just may be best served if you seat yourself at the bar rather than a table across the room. But, you'll be checking out all the stuff on the walls, so the wait isn't really that bad! Next time you're in the area, it's worth giving a looksee. read more

Our favorite place to go! No matter how often we go there, we are always treated like regulars. The menu is better than most bars. Very tasty and for a great price.l too! They lost their main cooks few months ago and the new cook is getting better all the time. The staff are all very friendly and attentive! They all work well together and have each other's back.
