This used to be the best place to drink beer and trying new beer. Unfortunately with their new renovation the main room is so loud I can't even hear the person next to me talk. The way to design the room everything is loud and echoes. There is hardly any parking so get there super early if you even want to chance it a spot without having to walk a distance. The outside is also overcrowded there are kids running all over and crying babies. Not exactly what I want to hear and see what I'm enjoying myself at a brewery. And the last time I went there was someone selling drugs in the area outside. They have plenty of picnic tables under a tent outside and also plenty of picnic tables inside they have beer, currently working on their liquor license. They also offer some food selections. Stopped here on the way home after a hike, and really glad I did. I placed an online order to pick up some beer to go, since I had checked the beer garden to try and make a reservation and they were booked. The pickup system was well setup and convenient, and the outdoor beer garden is much larger than I expected. It seems like a great time, and I'd love to go with friends sometime. There was a separate area and entrance for the distillery, and before leaving I checked it out. I tried a whiskey flight (with some decent bourbon) and ordered some shishito peppers. There's a much smaller but also much less busy outdoor seating area by the distillery bar, and the seating is first come first serve. During these wacky covid times-we were able to celebrate our daughter's eight year old bday party safely with family (only 5 of us), and the staff couldn't have been nicer. When our daughters giant balloon popped-the staff came over and decorated the wall next to her with a happy bday sign, which both saved us from a major meltdown, as well as made our daughter feel special. As we left the staff also gave our daughter a little gift. Aside from the staff being amazing, the food and drink was delicious, as always. If you're looking for a great brewery in the Hudson valley you have to check this place out. I come in every time I'm in the area. Their selection of beer is top notch, there is something for every beer lover. I usually come in the fall and absolutely love the seasonal Autumn Blaze. They also have a good food selections their pizza are perfectly cooked. The bratwurst is one of the best I've had and it goes perfectly with their beer. I highly recommend their fries which are sprinkled right herbs and truffle salt. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Happy that this place is still open during covid. They have great outdoor dining where all of the guests are socially distanced. All servers were protected and safe, as well as accommodating. #6 First time in a Brewery i went with a friends and his friends, because someone on yelp did an UYE over here, the place have an awesome staff, they are very quick server the beer, This is best place to get waste and taste several beers for 10 dollars, You buy 12 chips so you can take shoot of the beer, each shoot cost one chips, the Marvin shoot beer cost 2, so is easy to go thru the menu with all 12 chips, because the menu have only 11 beers. If you have you shoot glass from there you won't pay the 2 dollars for it. They was giving a free tours but my group was late so we could get in. the only thing is the food is too expensive over here 8 dollars for a hot dogs o no for me. While I'm not a beer snob, I can appreciate a tasty brew. Especially when it's paired with tasty eats[1] and a game of boules[2]. They've got a yard for mingling and soaking up rays. During colder weather, have a seat in the brewery's showroom. Staff are tops here: they'll get you what you want, and if you're not sure just ask for help. They're full of advice. Get a cup or two and relax, and a growler for home (credit accepted). Easy lot parking, make sure you have a designated driver. [1] Last I was here, their chief caterer was Village Dog. My wife, son and I went to Captain Lawrence yesterday. We enjoyed fresh beer, sunny skies and an awesome band. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. All of a sudden, chaos ensued. We were surrounded by a group of wild children. They threw handfuls of pebbles, hitting some of the patrons. They filled up cups of water from the clean drinking water and began dousing each other with the water, some of which landed on me.They destroyed the cutlery, Napkin and condiment table. But wait, there's more. They picked up large sticks and branches and began sword fighting and tag as they weaved through families trying to eat. Next, they climbed up on the barrels, knocking over drinks that people paid for. The excellent staff asked the kids numerous times to stop running and playing and to find their parents. The kids paid them no mind. In the 90 minutes we were there, not one parent came to stop their kid or stop the behavior. They were too busy drinking and vaping. I doubt they all took Ubers with car seats to get their families home safe. If the owners would check their cameras, they will see exactly what I just described. Years ago, Captain Lawrence allowed dogs and there were very few kids. It was peaceful and chill. Now dogs are banned and kids run wild. It's only a matter of time before some kid or a patron gets seriously hurt. It's only a matter of time before an employee carrying a tray trips over kids wrestling on the ground and gets seriously hurt. It was bad. read more

I have been drinking Captain Lawrence IPA when available for purchase at my local supermarket for the last few years. Always was a big fan of their IPA. Now, I never realized that Captain Lawrence Brewing Company was about 20 miles from Queens. So of we go to another brewery to taste some beers. Life is good. Captain Lawrence Brewing Company is a good size facility making delicious beer. Once you walk in, you purchase tokens in order to purchase beers. With a token and a free 4 or 5 oz beer glass, you make your selection from the chalk board. There are two lines: one side is the sample line and the other is the pint and growler line. Dozen tokens and dozen beers; wife and I tasted all of them. Perfect ratio. Life still good. While I had some favorites, there where some I did not like. Funny my wife like them. Go figure. Beer tasting is a great experience at Captain Lawrence Brewing Company. During our stay we had a great time critiquing beers and more fun drinking them. What a great way to spend a late fall afternoon. Tap Room was comfortable with that distress wood look. Very log cabin like. Plenty of seating, but on this particular day it was very busy with standing room only. Lots of energy in the room with beer lovers. Very nice vibe. Overall, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company is an excellent place to sample and enjoy beer. The brand is available in many restaurants, bars, supermarkets, etc. They are certainly expanding everywhere. This is a GREAT brewery. Definitely worth the trip on MetroNorth up to Tarrytown then a Lyft or Uber over to the brewery itself. Spacious place which they're currently adding onto. Tasting room has a long bar where you can order beer and food. For only a few bucks you get a bunch of tokens to use with a sample glass (that you get to take home!) and sample ALL the beers (there are plenty to choose from). I hate IPAs but their milkshake IPA (yes, really) was the best beer I had here. It was smooth, not too citrusy, and delicious! We also all enjoyed the brown ale (smooth) and a few other beers we tried. The other thing that makes this place great is their food. The portions are huge and filling. I tried the chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Their brussells sprouts are out of this world good. They are roasted and drizzled with maple syrup. So good I could eat them all day. It's difficult to find a brewery with solid food options to soak up all the alcohol you are consuming. Live music on the weekends in the spacious room off to the side. Tons of tables and barrels to sit at. Outdoor area for more seating during the warmer months. Three ladies rooms that are all very clean. Merchandise for sale up front. Tons of corn hole to be played along with life size Jenga. Kid friendly and we saw a ton of children making new friends at the brewery while their parents socialized. Really great spot to do some serious day drinking and explore Tarrytown after. They are only open until 6PM on Saturdays but if you get there early (they open at noon) you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the spot. read more

I have been meaning to go here over the past few years. For whatever reason, I just didn't make it. I live about 45 miles away. We were heading north to home from the Bronx and happen to drive right past it. I did a quick U-turn and I am so happy I did. This place is great. We weren't hungry so we didn't order any food but I saw food being served and it looked good. I ordered a beer that is not distributed. Panama red. Probably one of the best IPAs I've had in a very long time. I asked if I could have a growler of it to take home because it was so good. Unfortunately if anything, this is my only negative comment. I really wish you had put it in a growler for me. You put a lot of other beers in growlers. This would have been a special treat for me and some of my friends who haven't made the trip to the brewery. That aside, I will absolutely be back. The hidden treasurer (literally) of Elmsford! The brewery is tucked behind several large warehouses, and unless you know exactly where you are going (or you can read signs!) it will be quite an adventure finding the parking lot and entrance of the brewery. Fortunately for me, I had my roommate, who'd been here a few times, in the backseat. We got our IDs checked at the door, where we also got sampling glasses and chips (to trade per sample). $14 for 2 sampling glasses and 12 chips is a pretty great deal for two!! :) Plus, you get to keep the chips for future visits, so you don't have to feel pressured to use them all in one go..and it gives you an excuse to visit when they release new brew. :D We went specifically for the tour, which takes place twice a weekend on Saturdays at 2PM and 4PM. Reservations are not required for the tour, and it didn't seem like they had a limit to the number of individuals that they would let go on the tour. It is pretty much open to anyone who happens to be at the brewery at that time. Our tour guide (Doug) was very engaging! I think this was definitely one of the better tours that I have been on in terms of supplementary information offered in addition to an explanation of the brewing process. The brewery itself is not huge, but it is larger than many of the other micro breweries that I have toured before. I A free tasting is included as part of the tour, but the tour definitely does not include an abundance of free tastings as some of the reviews below seem to imply. The Captain is the bombbbbbbb y'all! They ave gotten bigger and better and the beer selection keeps expanding. It's a different kind of set up where you buy tokens for your beers but I like it, it makes it easier and you know how much you are spending right away. They also host various beer dinners, trivia, private events and more! I really dig their Kolsch, milkshake IPAs and of course the array of sours CL keeps introducing. There's a tour at 1,3,4,5pm. Very informative and we got to try the barley. My favorite was my cousin brewski (pilot right now) it's light refreshing with a hint of coriander. The boy's favorite was the palisade (another pilot) ipa with medium hops definitely not as strong as the imperial ipa. Picked up 2 growlers on our way out. So we will be back to refill! Not being from the area, this was my first visit to captain Lawrence that wasn't for a beer festival. Their space is awesome. It's huge! And I like that they offer weeknight events like bingo and trivia. Perfect for groups and families if that's your thing. They have a new food menu now and the food is very very good. But extremely pricy for what it is. We had an order of pork bao (2 per order) and roasted Brussels sprouts. Each of those cost $10. Their beers for the most part are very very good!! And I appreciate that they always have a wide selection, including cans/bottles to go. My boyfriend ordered double work and we thought it was a touch old. Walking into Captain Lawrence Brewing the atmosphere is very laid back, family oriented with strollers/kids definitely welcome and 90's pop rock music playing in the background. The main room is narrow and almost reminds me of high school with a handful of long tables for communal seating. The brewery section (shown in many yelp photos as the larger room with barrels) was closed when we went for a private event. To the important part (THE BEER:) 2 friends and I bought 10 tokens for $12 which gave us each a tasting glass and depending on alcohol content, determined the amount of tokens per tasting. It gave us all the option to try various beers and we enjoyed it so much we went back for 10 more tokens to split. Good news, tokens don't expire so if you don't use them you can bring the tasting glass and tokens back for another day. I'm so glad that I decided to stop by this brewery. First impression is that is huge and so much space. It's very clean and the staff are so welcoming. We sat down and I had the fried chicken sandwich and added American cheese and WOW this was one of the best chicken sandwiches I have had. The chicken was cooked to perfection the bun was perfect and the fries were so flavorful. I also had the warehouse wolf which is a brown ale and it was very good. I've given CL a 3 star rating but I can definitely see that depending on the person they can get a solid 4 star rating. CL is large AND VERY LOUD brew hall. The beer i had was ok but not memorable. They have a nice menu however I didn't order anything. The environment was just way too loud for me to enjoy a meal and forget about conversation. There's a wide variety of people that looked like most we're enjoying themselves. Everything from hipsters to families with infants in strollers. I am sure THAT EVERYONE IS WELCOMED HERE but there is definitely a lack of diversity as far as people are concerned. If you are a minority and don't like sticking out, you may feel out of place. I am sure there are people that absolutely live this place, but quite frankly, for me- too big and way, way too loud. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford. I had my husbands 30th birthday there over the weekend and it was amazing! The food was above and beyond any expectation I had. The pass around apps (mini chicken parm bites, Mac and cheese bites, tuna tar tar bites, but especially the mini beef wellington bites) were amazing. Emily and her staff Suzanne and Shannon (Emily forgive me if I got their names wrong again) were so easy to work with and so helpful! I wish we had pictures of the food, but we were too busy studying our faces! The tasting room was perfect for a 30th birthday, nice and private for the duration of the party with a lot of space. Great beer selection? Throw back songs? Good food? Outdoor seating with lights? What is not to like??? I came here with a group of friends on a Friday night. It was pretty late (around 8) and I was pleasantly surprised that there were a good number of people, not too much and not too little. Outdoor seating was definitely preferred but we chose inside because when we got there, most of the tables were already occupied. Most disclaim that they have pretty cool methods of getting beer. Option 1) you can buy the signature glass for $6 and your first drink is free. There is a select number of beers you can chose from but it's a pretty big glass and if you like one of the selected beers it's a pretty good deal. Plus you keep the glass. Option 2) you can buy a sample glass for $2 and tokens. Tokens were 5 for $5 or 12 for $10. Beers are 1-2 tokens and they will top the sample glass for you. Option 3) just normal. If getting a glass doesn't meet your fancy you can just get plastic cups and get the normal sizes. I was pretty stoked with the concept especially the sampler! I like trying different beers and it seems like they have a lot of seasonal beers on rotation. I split the sampler and 12 for $10 and I thought it was a good amount. I sampled the peach sour, grapefruit, and the Pilsner they had (blanking out on the names). The grapefruit was my favorite. If you are unsure, you can ask for a taste before committing. Food: I ordered the Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich which came with pickled veggies and fries. It was delicious!! I loved the combination of the jalapeño and basil! Also the bread was sooooo good. It was a pretty decent sized dish . I brought half of the sandwich home because it was so filling. My friends ordered the bowls and they didn't look as worth as the sandwich. They've really separated themselves from the pack with their unique venue and well-executed food program. The night before our wedding, my wife and I organized a party at Captain Lawrence. Figured it would be a nice way to ease family & friends into the festivities to come. Well, months later, the party at Captain Lawrence is STILL the most talked about part of the weekend. It was an absolute blast. Well received by the 20 somethings all the way to the 80 year old grandparents. I worked with Erin who was an absolute superstar. 11 out of 10. She went above and beyond to ensure that everything went smoothly. She even through in a few brews for the after party! Thank Erin!
