Decent beer selection but pricey for a dive bar. Had the pulled pork sandwich, which was soaked in sweet baby ray's bbq sauce, but was nothing special. Server was friendly and relatively attentive. Would not go out of my way for the establishment, but it served its purpose. read more

Took my boyfriend's parents for a quick drink because Tarrytown called right around the corner and they could go to their event. I actually didn't realize they had food which the burgers or slider. I should say were amazing very good. The staff was nice and they told me they're open till 10 for food and depending on how late people come in for drinks up to 2 AM. After exploring surrounding areas of Tarrytown, came to The Tapp for some dinner and drinks. Found this spot, from a google search, and then seeing pretty good reviews here on yelp, how could I saw no. Establishment wasn't too busy, overall quiet with a few TVs playing one sport or another when I walked in, and I did not mind that at all, since I could get a spot at the bar. Ordered myself a BLT sandwich (when they say thick cut bacon, THEY MEANT IT, so I was very happy camper about that, plus the roast red pepper aioli really tied it all together) with an espresso martini. The martini is possibly the best espresso martini I had. If the drive wasn't too long from home for me, I would probably be here every other week, for both the BLT and espresso martini. Great place to grab a drink, lots of standards available as well as a specialty cocktail menu. Light fare is available and while we didn't eat during this visit, we will definitely be back and give it a try. The bartender made us feel like a "regular", and the regulars tolerated outsiders. Cute little pub with great burgers and fun cocktails at lunch. The server was kind, friendly, & efficient. The Boo Juice was a little too sweet for me, but the food was really tasty and the portions generous. I also appreciated that the restroom was clean. I was only visiting Tarrytown for the day, but I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again. A simple, open space, no frills bar. We visited on a October 30th, which might be around the town's busiest season. My boyfriend and I sat ourselves down near an open window and waited a few minutes for service. There was only one person on wait staff and I felt bad for her. This isn't a fast establishment. My boyfriend eventually ordered a beer and we ordered some loaded tots. When they came, they didn't look too appetizing. The tots were crunchy but the toppings were just...not good - at least they were hot. The price of food and drinks is not worth it. Maybe their happy hour deals would be better. But it's bar food and not impressive, even looking at other peoples plates. Seems to be a place for good late nights but even so the beer prices are high for the area. The Tapp is a blink and you'll miss it bar right by Broadway/Main St. Kind of crazy how this is even possible given the vibe right around the corner. There's plenty of tables for seating as well as standing room around the bar. They had some Christmas decorations and also had a holiday-themed drink menu. There was just 1 friendly bartender doing everything when we were there which did lead to a few delays, but nothing crazy. She also had to deal with a shitshow of a white trash couple 2 tables away from us, so really wasn't too stressed about it. Other than them, the place was very chill and quiet which is a good change of pace. Got the hot apple cider with Jameson and later a dark beer (Salted Oreo). The drink was perfectly balanced between the fresh cider and the whiskey. Beer was good if a bit sweet, but hell look what's in the name; they only have 10 taps (surprising given the name of the bar) but it was a decent selection of microbrews local and otherwise. My friend got 2 margaritas (very festive) and clearly liked them both. For food I got the cheesesteak. It was a simple but solid rendition of a classic. I wish it had a bit more meat and more onions versus peppers/mushrooms, but it was generally good. Ate more like a steak sandwich that a greasy ass cheesesteak. The fries were clearly fresh and thick cut. My friend liked his wings too. Very nice neighborhood bar. Wouldn't make more or less of it then that. I used to truly enjoy coming here. However the last two weekends the staff is extremely overwhelmed, orders are not placed correctly, the wrong food is being delivered, the beer on tap was flat and it takes forever to get service - even sitting at the bar. My friend and I purchased 2 beers before getting seats at the bar. Sadly the beers were flat and we mentioned this to the bartender, we weren't offered a refund for the flat beer that was poured. And to add insult to injury, the bartender attempted to charge us for the beer, after we paid for it and I didn't even drink it - she poured it down drain. When the bartender handed us our bill it was incorrect when I pointed it out she became nasty. While I speaking to my friend, about the discrepancies, the bartender then said, "she's talking crap about us." I was simply stating the facts she became extremely aggressive, rude and nasty. Recently, we had a ladies night at The Tapp and it was great! There were six of us and we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. We started with cauliflower bites, mozzarella sticks and totchos, all were hot and delicious. Perfect with our Cosmos! For entrees we had the salmon special and a great salad with grilled chicken. A couple of my friends live in Tarrytown and told me about trivia nights The Tapp hosts every Tuesday - I love trivia so I decided to meet them here last night. The Tapp looks like a typical bar - dark, loud, music playing, etc. They have a large selection of beer which is definitely a standout, and they host weekly events which keeps the atmosphere fun. There are a few tables along one of the walls for seating - they have a full menu so technically you can sit and have a meal here. The menu is pretty basic - typical bar snacks plus some sandwiches and salads. We were seated at the bar so we decided to share some small stuff - nachos, potato wedges, a margherita pizza, and hummus. Nothing was drop dead delicious - but it's not the focal point of The Tap so it wasn't disappointing. Two standouts were the nachos which were made with potato chips (strange but it worked - was that done on purpose?) and the hummus which was chunky and presented nicely - they didn't skimp on portion either. I wouldn't come back for the food but I would for the atmosphere overall - a fun place in Tarrytown to get together with friends (we got 2nd place in trivia by the way ;-). read more

Stopped in with a friend for lunch during our fall day trip to Tarrytown. It was a Sunday, so we wanted something quick and easy, outdoor/near windows and socially distanced, and ideally with TVs to watch some of the NFL games. They have a great rotating list of beers/ciders - most of which are local to NY or the Hudson Valley which is nice. I ordered the Tapp Burger, cooked perfectly medium well, with a side of the Cauliflower Bites, and it was delicious! My friend got the Butternut Squash soup and the Mac n Cheese, and said both of those dishes were pretty good too. Although there was only one bartender/waitress working that day, service was great, and I would definitely go back if I'm in the area again! read more

We were in Tarrytown this weekend looking for a place to eat. All the spots on Main Street with outdoor seating were full and had people waiting. We walked passed The Tapp and while there was no outdoor seating (sad face) they had their two floor to ceiling window panels wide open and there was only one other group in there. We weren't thrilled to indoor dine but we felt it had enough air circulation. They had a list of craft beers as well as an expected pub food menu with a little pizzazz. I ordered the butternut squash soup and the bacon mac & cheese, while my friend ordered the burger with cauliflower bites on the side. The soup was phenomenal, I wish I could've taken a pot of it home with me. The mac & cheese was way too oily/not creamy enough for my taste. My friend said the burger and cauliflower bites were delicious but beware, the burger was large (10 oz patty). However, as we were wrapping up, it got a little bit too crowded for our liking. More people like to eat at 3pm on Sundays than I expected. But overall had a very good visit at The Tapp! read more

Went here the other night for the first time. Atmosphere and location was nice but the menu was a lot smaller than I thought. We asked our server if he recommended the chicken or short rib quesadilla. We ordered the short rib per his recommendation and when all our food was out he came to check on us and asked how our meal was. While the other couple items we got were decent, the short ribs had an extremely strong cinnamon flavor that was very overpowering. No where on the menu did it mention that the short ribs are braised in cinnamon. This was something that I thought should have been stated on the menu since it is a specific flavor not everyone likes. I told him we did not like the quesadilla because the cinnamon taste was intense and we do not like cinnamon. He did not even apologize or ask if we would like something else. He didn't even remove the plate from our table he just walked away in silence which is something I have never experienced while dining before. They are usually very apologetic and accommodating to get you something else you may like. Upon receiving the check we also saw that he did not remove it from our bill which I just thought was very tasteless. Needless to say I don't think I will be returning. read more

We have been longtime customers of the Tapp. Not anymore. As we usually do, we strolled in last night for a few drinks. Because the Tapp can feel loud, cluttered, and claustrophobic, we have always preferred a table by the window. The new owners inexplicably installed hanging light fixtures directly above exterior operable doors. So when we walked in, the door struck the fixture and the bartender screamed at us from across the bar in front of everyone - as if we're the ones who hung a pendant fixture in front of a door. Instead of being so hysterical, the bartender should have Googled "flush mount light fixture" - or locked the door, or otherwise kept it in place. The bartender warbled rude things about us to the other patrons while approaching our table, and simply threw menus at us. I told the bartender that we already knew what we wanted to order (since we're regulars), which they ignored while plodding off. This bartender was not only confused about which type of light fixtures should be installed above an operable exterior door, but exhibited great confusion about how to treat customers - especially regulars - who can easily drop at least $100 on drinks and appetizers for two. I'm not surprised that "bad service " is consistently mentioned in even good reviews about this place. To be clear, this place is expensive and one might at least expect to be treated with decency. Horsefeathers is nearby, has an extensive menu at reasonable prices, provides a much less cluttered space, and understands the concept of service. I don't mind a busy/distracted/forgetful waiter/bartender, but to be rude, hostile, and hysterical on top of that is unacceptable. We're Tapped out and won't be going back. read more
