If I could give less stars I would. This company has no accountability to what they give as an estimate. It is sold as a binding estimate but they are not bound to it at all. They "underestimated" the price by 50% ($3700 changed to nearly $6000 once they had our belongings) and there is no one to talk to. We added no items from what was given for the estimate- and in fact sent even less than what was reported in the estimation process. The representatives work from home and have no direct communication with anyone within the company so they are essentially message takers. The messages go to no one. We have asked who they go to and they say they go to "onsite" and they don't know that anyone is onsite today (Saturday). No one with any decision making power is available once they have your belongings. We have spoken to Tisa, Alexis, Tia, Amy, Bruce, "CS" meaning customer service (irony noted) and none are able to help. Our delivery will now not happen due to them not being available. If I can stress anything- ***DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.*** If you get a really good binding agreement please know that it is not binding in any way. It looks very legitimate, but it is a scam. The contract means absolutely nothing when the company has no one to answer to. The representative who executed the "binding contract" is not accountable to anyone. Check my reviews- I usually write only glowing reviews. I do not use this to trash a company only when I have a bad experience, but when I do I want to pass it on. I took this review down while we tried to work with this company but they just stopped replying to anything g even after promising calls back, etc. I see more people had awful experiences in this time so I hope the next potential client reads these reviews and hires someone else! read more

If I could give this moving company 0 stars, I would. Not only do they sell you LIES, but they do not take care of your things. After being told I would have my things in 1 week, I ended up waiting over 3 weeks for my things. They would continue to lie and tell me it would get to me in a couple of days. They did not offer a high discount because there is actually a 21 day window of you receiving your things but they don't tell you that when signing. They lie to you and tell you they can "100% get it to you when you need". My items arrived dirty, all marked up and in horrible condition. One piece of furniture is going straight to the trash. WARNING on these moving companies. They go by many different names falling under: Captain Movers, Star Van Lines, Captain Van Lines. They are a bunch of scammers and hustlers. I want to warn anyone from using these companies. What they do is give you a quote over the phone and that's what you pay at first thinking everything is going to go well. Here is the scam. Once they come to your house to pick up your items to move in transport, they tell you you owe an additional $1,000-$1500 and you have to pay them cash, Zelle, Venmo or a money order otherwise they won't pick up your items and transport them to where you need to move to. Once you tell them, you already paid they say this is an additional transportation fee. They don't give out receipts at all or provide invoices. If they do the guys will pull something off the internet that is fake to scare you. At that point, you might be desperate because you are moving and need your items moved so you might pay out the money. The next part of the scam is when they are supposed to be delivering the items to you. They don't deliver it until you pay an additional $1,000-$2000 more on top of the estimate paid upfront and the $1000-$1,500 transportation fee. They basically hold your items hostage and say they will not give them to you unless you pay the money with cash or money order, Venmo, or Zell. If they show up at your new location they won't give you your items until you pay the cash they want. The movers are aggressive and threatening. They don't perform lawful business practices, nor or they allowed to do those kinds of side transactions outside of the company. Those movers are not even licensed transferring from state to state. We tried calling the company's direct line and someone named Sarah is on on the scam too. The guys driving the truck just rent a regular Enterprise rent a car or truck. They are a bunch of scammers trying to get extra money from people who what already paid the oraginal estimate price. This was the guy names ALMAT who tried to tell us he wouldn't give our items unless we paid him $1000. He was extremely aggressive and in your face and threatening. read more

I am still working with their third-party vendor to get any reimbursed. The only thing that was smooth was setting up the move. The mover needed to be more professional and prepared. Where to begin? First, if I could leave zero stars, I would. Second - the following review is on behalf of my 86-year-old mother, who was severely taken advantage of and still hasn't received all her furniture. This company is a bunch of Russian scam artists. Watch out or they might do this to you: give you a quote over the phone, then come 10 hours LATE (after dark, after all your utilities are shut off) on the moving date to do the moving and then tell you that it's going to be "$X" amount higher because they didn't have accurate square footage. So...you now owe more money. WAY more. Since it's so late, they'll promise to return in the morning but again, won't show up at the promised time, so you can meet them. Next, they'll let you know - even that you've already left for your future home (all relayed to the broker) that they won't take anything until they've been paid - cash. Then, they stop answering any phone calls...for hours and hours and hours. But next, they'll start calling your children and threatening them. Even though they're in the airport. Some arranging to send them a picture of the cashier's check that they were supposed to get in person, staves them off. 3 weeks later they arrive at the house to deliver the goods but will not unload until they have cash in their hand. Luckily your family might be there, who block the scammers' moving van and they finally unload all the stuff - well, most of it. The main scammer is a Russian guy named Alex (last name withheld). He works with a company called Vanguard Van Lines. Don't trust either of these "companies", if you want any semblance of a professional, safe, and worry-free y move. All these horrible negative reviews are absolutely 100 percent true!! DO NOT use this company or anyone affiliated. They don't answer the phone, they use sub contractors who don't speak English at all! The Driver,/lead was Russian, he could not communicate with us, the customer nor their American workers! It was horrible. The dispatcher was Russian who you could barely understand. No Bill of Lading was given to us after they loaded our property. They couldn't understand what I was saying or asking for....so they portrayed. They showed up late for initial pickup, showed up with a friggin toy hauler. It was already half full with another customer's property. So, of course our stuff didn't fit! We had to wait a couple hours for the Driver to get a uhaul to finish the initial load! One of the workers left half way through for another job. They charged extra because they didn't bring a big enough vehicle for our move. Then we got charged for storage. ( suppose to be free for 30 days). Then they were a week late for delivery, never received a call to tell us the new date. We had to call them! They showed up 4 hours late with only half our stuff! We had to wait another week for the rest of our stuff. This was a different subcontractor company. The fun just starts...the initial subcontractor hired this other company Van Lines to deliver our second truck. Well, the initial delivery company K044Corp did not pay Van Lines for the Driver to pick our stuff up from warehouse, truck and trip to our house. So, Van Lines wouldn't unload our stuff!! The Van Line driver and I both tried to call the dispatcher for K044Corp for 2 solid hours. He answered the phone one time, sounded drunk. He eventually blocked us and we couldn't get through to him. Come to find out he was out at a club ( Saturday night). The Van Line Driver left our house with the truck full of our property. He slept in parking lot all night and came back to our house the next morning after the Dispatcher finally got home from partying all night and paid him! We had alot of stuff missing/stolen ( approx 5K worth) , broken and boxes were crushed! Worst move and experience ever. We are Veterans and never experienced anything like this! We filed a claim....6 friggin months ago!!! I finally got a hold of the so called third party claims company K044Corp uses. They sent me a reply that they got terminated and no longer work for them. Go figure! Absolutely DO NOT use Captain Movers!! They take your money initially and pass you on as a broker to a bunch of Russians thugs!! This so-called "van lines" is nothing more than a moving broker. The salesman and the "quality assurance" guy tell you that they can move anything and everything you have... then less than 24 hours before the move appointment, you receive a Bill of Lading from some company you've never heard of. When you contact Captain to ask if these people are sub-contractors, you get no response. The real fun comes when the subcontractor rolls up in a rented Ryder van and wants you to sign a document that sez they will deliver in 21 days rather than the promised 10 days. Oh, and the quote of $5K has suddenly become $6K. And the 2 movers were late in arriving and couldn't fit everything in the truck. Finally, when our items arrived at their destination, the ONE GUY who was there to move them (in another rented truck) delivered a broken lamp, and dropped an expensive couch about 6 feet off the truck, damaging one of the feet. Then, despite Captain's written assurance that everything would be unpacked and placed where we wanted it, the guy left about 3/4 through the move, saying he had another job. BEWARE. CAPTAIN VAN LINES IS A COMPLETELY DISHONEST COMPANY WHO DROPS THE PRETENSE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE THE SECOND THEY GET YOUR MONEY. read more

The only thing I will add is that they also stole over 4K worth of my stuff and have refused to pay for any of it. Absolutely do not use this company. These people aren't really movers. They are brokers and the price they give you is only an estimate at best and they do say if you add things before pickup the price may increase. What they DON'T tell you is how much they lowball the cubic feet of your items before any other things are added. The shock comes on moving day when the actual movers, a company not associated with Captain, show up and actually tell you how many cubic feet you have to move. In my case the price went up $900 even with me removing some items. This wasn't the only thing Captain misrepresented. My advice is timeless-if it seems too good to be true it probably is. read more

Do not trust Captain. I flew over 1200 miles to assess and help my father. I found he had developed significant dementia and needed to move out of his home into assisted living while I sold what I could and to ship what I needed to save back to my home, 1200+ miles away. This needed to be done quickly so I could put his home on the market. Most well known moving companies could do this in 2 to 3 months. Then I found Captain with it's "5-star reviews". The recruiter quoted me a total of $2400, with the first third payable by check. Then a rental truck arrived on the day of the move, with a driver who spoke primarily Russian, very poor mastery of the English language, and the dispatcher only mildly better. I was then told that, instead of the 200 sq. ft of stuff, that I actually had 300 sq ft. Price went up to $4000 for 300 sq ft. And was told to sign new contract for this extra 100 ft of stuff while the driver/mover loaded up the stuff, which I did through my phone. After everything was loaded I was told I needed cashiers check, postal money orders, or cash to pay this portion. Luckily I had cash from having sold most of my dad's stuff. This was May 25, and I could accept delivery of my stuff on June 7, since I had to drive home after I completed things there. Then June 6 arrived, no message or word. Was told, and found in the tiny legal-ese language of the 7 page contract that they can take up to 21 days after the estimated delivery date to deliver furniture. I sent numerous emails, texts, and placed phone calls to unsuccessfully get information. Finally 4 days before the 21st delivery deadline, I got very limited information. Told them I would get a bank cashier's check, to which they said ok. Not once was I able to talk to a person on the phone. Emails & texts were essentially ignored, and phone calls ended with Verizon recording or recording to leave a message, which was never returned. Day of delivery: told I needed postal money, Zelle cash, or cash. This is after I had to return the original cashier's check, made to Captain, to get the contracted company "Terra Van Lines". They wanted cash. Finally they accepted the plan to receive a cashier's check IF I provided the bank receipts. Summary: contract is difficult to read, especially on a phone. They up the price to an extraordinary price for an extra 100 sq ft (i question this as well). And there is no clear contact place. I was directed to call numbers from Florida, Silver Springs Nevada, New York, California, and Illinois. And extremely rarely talked to an individual. And the more irritated or stressed the person was to get answers, the more they evaded answering. The only good part... drivers were careful, nothing was broken or lost, and the 130 year old China cabinet and the 150 year old trunk arrived safe and undamaged. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Being the military we've moved a lot, and this was the worst moving experience we've ever had. If I could give ZERO stars I would. They claim to be military owned and operated, but they are just a broker that doesn't give a crap about customers. Two guys and a budget rental truck showed up to move our entire home and property, and they were rushed because they wanted to get everything packed, transported, and unloaded at our new location all in less than a day. My husband ended up being the one who disassembled everything (no discount/compensation for that)​. They didn't wrap things such as mattresses and couches as they promised. Their price was $2,000 more than they quoted and with no military discount. When they arrived at the new location, they expected cash for the remainder of the cost, and would not take a check or credit card, which was not communicated prior. They held our belongings ransom until we could pay via Venmo (wth???). We also ended up moving two loads of belongings ourselves. You cannot get ahold of anyone in the company either, zero customer service if you have issues or questions. Absolutely the worst company I've ever dealt with. read more
