Very disgusted by the sanitary practices of a gentleman identified as the owner. I was tasting the lobster mac, and he took the liberty of offering me a tasting that he repeatedly shoved his bare fingers into the salad. Uggghh. Unfortunately, I had already paid for my order and just threw the tasting out. Never to return again. If this was done publicly, I can only imagine other behaviors unless I was considered "special." We came here for the first time tonight after seeing all of the positive reviews on Yelp. Like many other yelpers have mentioned before, this is a no frills type of place. The inside is pretty small. I can't imagine how it gets during lunch hour. The staff were all super friendly. You order at the counter and they keep all their fresh uncooked seafood in a glass seafood display in the front. I had the 1/2 Lb breaded scallops and my roommate ordered the jumbo shrimp and calamari combo. Scallops were juicy and fresh. We both really liked our food. I'm not really a big coleslaw person but the coleslaw here was on point. Their strawberry cheesecake was also really good. The prices were great. Definitely won't be my last time here. My only tiny complaint: they serve their food in styrofoam boxes instead of using plates even when dining in. This isn't very good for the environment. read more

I been here several times. Wits always been excellent fried seafood. The second time I came the cornbread tasted like plastic and the Cole slaw was very warm and dry, old maybe? Other then that best place for fresh seafood. Lobster Mac & Cheese has amazing flavor BUT it's a hit and miss with finding lobster bits. This time I got more bits. Last time I didn't have one tiny bit of lobster. So it's a hit and miss. Other then that I love their Mac. 1/9/19 Forget to mention under this review that their coleslaw came very warm and dry. My family and I stopped by here for lunch before going to the outlets. This was a very cute place with the wooden floors and the tables. I had the Combo platter which I chose the Catfish Filets and the Rib Tips, with a side of coleslaw and baked beans. I wasn't a fan of the catfish fillets as they were more like nuggets rather than the filet of the fish. The rib tips had a more smokey/sweet bbq sauce on them, but the meat itself was good. The coleslaw was creamy and crunchy, but it came in a very small plastic condiment container. The beans itself were just okay, as it had a clearer sauce. My dad really enjoyed the Hot Link Sausage as they had great spices with a nice snappy casing. I would like to try out their Alligator Tail next time! Great smoked meats! I had rib tips, pulled pork, baked beans, greens, and corn bread; all were excellent. Cashier mentioned onion rings were made from scratch, so I was all in on that and, even with high expectations, was impressed - never had any better! So many other things I'd like to try. Great staff too - very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Neat ambiance inside, but a bit cramped. It took longer to get our food than I expected (15 minutes?) since most looked ready in the case, but be patient, it's worth the wait. Can't wait to try the turtle cheesecake tonight (too full to eat after the big meal). Lots of seafood available too (smoked, fried, and uncooked to make at home). Most items available by the pound. Don't get the rib tips!! All bone, little bit of meat is so dry that you can't chew it. Sauce is bland and not BBQy at all! Garlic potatoes didn't have any garlic I don't think. This is hands down the best place to go for deep fried seafood! We stopped here on the way back from a shopping trip and I've been dreaming about this place ever since! There's also a sit down restaurant side to it but I much prefer the menu in the crab shack. The scallops are huge and juicy the fried clams are also not to be missed! We needed to add extra sauce for home just for help. And the 1/2 lb shrimp was old and must have been "refried" and put in a container. So disappointing. No good restaurant should ever sell old food. I came up here because my friend and I were shopping at the Pleasant Prairie outlets and needed some food before we headed home. I get a little skeptical when people talk about awesome seafood in the Midwest because most of the time it's not fresh. When it comes to Captain Porky's, I"m not even sure it needs to be because whatever they're doing, it's amazing. They have both BBQ AND seafood. Also, a little odd, but let's just go with it. There's a restaurant attached called The Shanty but it's a different menu. I'm sure it's good, but we walked into Captain Porky's first. I had to try both...it was necessary to full pass judgement. The food: -Combo plate - brisket, fried scallops, steak fries, coleslaw, corn bread (about $15). scallops (be careful they are hot) are oh so delicious and big. They only give you 4, which doesn't seem like a lot, but is actual quite sufficient. Their tartar sauce is also good as is their homemade BBQ sauce (they give you the mild one and I bought a jar to take home). The fries are good as is the cornbread (little dense though...and honey butter would've made it amazing). The brisket ran a little dry. I ate about half of it and the other half went home with me and was still delicious the next day. -my friend got the chicken and rib tips (chicken was a little dry, but rib tips are a definite must if you go the BBQ route) What we took home: -Cajun crawfish tails - amazing, delicious, like popcorn shrimp but ...you just can't stop eating it -conch salad - doesn't quite look like how they make it in the Caribbean, but the execution in flavor and deliciousness is the same... so good, brought back so many memories -lobster mac and cheese - it didn't have giant hunks of lobster like some places do, but you couldn't definitely tell it was lobster mac and cheese. also delicious -onion rings - thinly sliced onion, lightly batter and fried, not too heavy, more so crispy than crunchy, they were good -fried clam strips - not overly fish, sweet clam flavor TLDR: yeah, i'm definitely coming back. the seafood is the way to go, but if you're craving BBQ, go for the rib tips. I was recently there and ordered 2 small salads and a container of baked beans, all which came out to be $24. This place is ridiculously expensive for the quantity of food rec'd. But since we chose to dine-in (still served in to-go containers) i was able to speak with someone behind the counter. They gave me a nee serving of brisket which was dry. The lobster mac and cheese was fishy and there were the tiniest shreds of lobster definitely from a can. It was gross. Almost everyone i saw sitting was eating fried seafood so apparently i just ordered wrong even though this is a bbq place? What a fabulous find! The gentleman behind the counter was so nice and helpful. We had a hard time deciding what to get so we had a little bit of everything. I love finding a family so passionate about their heritage and what it means to provide good wholesome meals to their customers. My first visit I knew I wanted to try the brisket and they had a special lobster mac and cheese that I just had to try. I ended up getting a bottle of olive oil from their farm in Greece, an order of potato salad, red beet salad, chocolate covered strawberries, homemade peanut butter cups and a slice of turtle cheesecake to go. Hubby and I have stopped here twice on our way back from WI. Both times I got the brisket, and both times I was disappointed. My photo says it all. Basically, it is very tough, fatty (not the good fat), and anything but tender. Hubby got pulled pork the first time. He said it was good. He got an italian beef the second time and felt it was not the place to get italian beef. He got his first clue when they did not have hot peppers. I'm thinking I will try it sometime in the future and make sure I get something other than brisket since I see yelpers I trust really like this place. We were there on a Sunday evening and the fish did not look that fresh and tasty in the display case. It might be fresh, but it didn't look that way and the display case window was dingy. (While we were there, someone started to clean it.) I tasted the regular and the hot barbeque sauce... they both tasted about the same. They were good though. Great seafood at reasonable prices. Dine in or take out. Nothing fancy here. I love fried oysters and they have a great oyster poorboy. Not New Orleans great, but the best I have found around here. I have also tried their pan fried trout which was excellent. Love their tartar sauce. My husband likes their meat choices. Just learned they are expanding. Can't wait to see what that brings.
