This was an enjoyable meal altho we felt that both my shrimp and my husbands calamari were a tad over cooked. Our friends ordered baby back ribs and rib tips. The shrimp were a bit hard which for me means they are over cooked a bit. They still had a good taste and they were extremely large. I had greens, corn bread and the potatoes. All of sides were very good. My husband had a calamari dinner with Cole slaw, steak fries and the corn bread. The calamari was a bit on the rubbery chewy side but the sides were very good. The baby back ribs with fries and Cole slaw were reported to be very tasty. The rib tips with potatoes and Cole slaw were also reported to be good altho a bit fatty. Insanely tasty food. I've been coming here for years and am always delighted with the smoked meats, the delicious Mac and cheese, and the cheesecake, omg! But recently, we've gone on keto (very low carb) and have had trouble finding places to eat. This place is PERFECT. Intensely keto-friendly (all of the smoked meats, most of the salads, several fish options!!!) AND keto desserts! Visit date 1/5/19- We hard a about this place from the locals. My daughter had a taste for crabs. They where good and she enjoyed them. I had fried calamari, fried shrimp okra and cornbread and greens(see photo). The calamari was different from what I'm use to, it literally was the WHOLE OctopusThe fried food do not have much taste. A also got the crab dip it was ok to much mayo and not enough crab meat. My husband enjoyed his food. He had the ribs and brisket. I was going to get the cornbread but was told by another guest it was nasty lol so I did not get it. Inside was small around 5 wooden tables and bar stool and area to eat. After seeing the high ratings, I decided to give this place a try. We ordered rib tips, Cajun chicken and tilapia. Rib tips were a little dry and kinda oily. The Cajun chicken was good tho! (Pretty hard to mess that up if you ask me) and deep fried tilapia was bland. Even tho it came with tartar sauce, I thought it'd taste better if there was some seasoning on it. Absolute worst service ever. Our group was verbally accosted by the owners for plugging in our electric skateboards as we ate despite receiving prior approval to do so. Additionally, one of the employees made vague threats against us regarding what her brother would do to us if he was there. Roadhouse next door was very accommodating. We are spending the our New Year's eve and New Years day at great Wolf Lodge. Since the food here is way too overpriced and poor quality, we picked up food from a great restaurant. My dad is good friends with the owner of the restaurant and the chief, Dino. My dad picked up the food and brought it to the hotel for us to eat and the food was absolutely amazing. I had the barbecue pork sandwich,that was like a sub because it was so big. Everyone Loved their food and everyone was satisfied with their meal. We decided to try this place out since we saw they have seafood boils. The place is small, cozy and does not have a lot of seating. But that is fine, since typically people do take out orders. We both ordered seafood boils, and I got mine with shrimp, mussels, scallops, sausage, potatoes and corn on the cob. This came out in a timely manner and smelled amazing. Everything about this boil was amazingly fresh and flavorful. Plenty of food in this boil and had to bring leftovers home. I also brought home a slice of cheesecake, which was a salted caramel. I am so happy I have found this amazing spot that serves the best smoked salmon I have ever had! A few months back my grandfather took us here for the first time and I've been coming back every couple of weeks ever since... I love the counter presentation as everything is in giant bowls and skillet pans, it just feels very "family style" which means homemade with love and care in my book! Within spitting distance of the Wisconsin border, on US 41 north of Chicago, Captain Porky's is one of those delightful gems one hopes to discover but doesn't run into all that often. A combination restaurant and seafood market, the three Kallianis siblings started the restaurant in 1984, having settled in the suburban Chicago area after immigrating from Greece. The restaurant part (order at the counter, sit at large wood picnic tables inside) features cooked to order seafood, sandwiches, and bbq specialities, like ribs and chicken. The market part offers a fresh seafood counter, order like at a butcher shop, by the pound, or in the case of some fish, they will slice off 'sized to order' steaks. In a small deli counter are house-made fresh salads and a few Greek baked goods. A variety of micro brews are available by the bottle for those dining in. They serve their sandwiches New Orleans "po boy" style, on French rolls dressed with tomato, lettuce, and mayo. They also offer a couple of New Orleans specialties like gumbo and jambalaya. Note that for another day. Sandwiches and meals are served ala carte or with a slight upgrade, with sides. Steak fries are available, as are a host of other fried delicacies, like rings, okra, zucchini, hush puppies, eggplant, as well as several southern vegetables. I went outside the norm, and had a walleye po boy. Walleye is a tender flesh, mild fish indigenenous to the upper Midwest, Canada, and Alaska. I asked for a little side of remoulade sauce, a very traditional New Orleans condiment that originated in France. Call it tartar sauce with a kick, which can come from adding capers or curry powder. If you feel inclined to make it at home, here's Emeril's recipe. I knew the fish would be fresh from seeing it in the counter (pic below). It was cooked perfectly, with a light breading, and was ample sized, a good value for the money. Steak fries were great, as well, especially when I used the remoulade as a fry dipping sauce. If you live in the Chicago area, particularly the NW burgs, or in SE Wisconsin, it's worth a trip, if you haven't been. Excellent job, folks. Time to consider bringing your chow to the rest of the country! There is a severe lack of good BBQ in our area. Decided to try Captain Porkys yesterday. Spent almost 80 dollars on several different items. All were disappointing. It's been a while and I'm going to updated my review for captain porkys. It's too far away to get to often so when I found out some I know was driving right past it and would arrive at work around lunch I had to ask can you pick us up something. First off I have been all over the menu and never found something that was not good. Today was time for the jambalaya because it's been a long time since I had it. The small is $5 and the large is $8 so I opted for the large because what will you get for $5, wrong because it was very heavy for lunch. I don't have a large appetite so I ate until I was full and there was plenty left. I weighed the container after I ate lunch and there was 2 pounds showing on the package shipping scale, what did it weigh before I dug in. See my pictures. It smelled amazing by the way. The meat and seafood ratio vs the rice seemed like 50/50. There were big chunks of sausage and not slices, tail on whole shrimp, chunks of fish as well as the rice and other ingredients. The whole dish was very good and tasty. The big chunks of meat and seafood were very generous and they do not skimp on this dish. The large jambalaya has got to be the best value on the menu for how much sausage and seafood you get for $8. If you are remotely close this is a must stop for any foodie. read more

Excellent seafood and pork prepared very well! I lucked out on my most recent visit and enjoyed the Pork Belly Po Boy they had as a daily special.
