Our first and last visit! The place was recommended by a friend but, apparently Charlene wasn't their server! The food was average; most items on the menu were fried but, would have to say the clam chowder was very good. Good place for Burgers. This location is much nicer than their original on HH. We make the extra effort to come to Bluffton for this location. The place is decorated nice and has a really great screened in area to keep away from those pesty no-see-um's that seem to bite me like crazy. Waiters always quick and friendly. read more

VERY great service. Our waitress was an older lady (she had dark hair and was really tan) and because we are just visiting here, we didn't know where things are. My family and I had some questions about where some places we're and she told us where they were and how to get there. We asked about an ice cream shop and she even called the place for us to see if they were still open! The food was pretty average, but still very good. I HIGHLY recommend the "He Crab" bisque. It's only about $5 and it's delicious! It's a bit spicy though, so I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like spicy foods. The atmosphere is casual and prices are very reasonable. read more

Went there 4/11/14 and was pleasantly surprised. The wait for a table was short, but enough time for a drink up-stairs. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Food was also very good, oysters on the half shell were super fresh, as was the other food at our table, Schuly was a great server, will return when in the area !!! read more

Just your average tourist trap. The he crab soup was good, not great, and the hush puppies were about the same. The service was actually outstanding considering how busy it was for a Saturday night, but I'm not sure we will be back again anytime soon. read more

I have always come to Captain Woodys when in Bluffton. The food is well prepared and our service has been good. Tonight we were waited on by a nice server and they were attentive and pleasant. The problem was the hostess that seated us even though she was not our server she insisted on hovering around our table frequently asking if we had finished our courses. Twice she removed plates even though we were enjoying the evenings slow pace. We had not finished our salads, but she breezed by and took them anyway. I am a slow eater, and she asked three times if she could take our plates. This was after the dinner rush. I relented and she took our plates. I wondered what seemed to be the issue. As I looked around and the restaurant was almost empty. Sometimes one waitress is exactly what is needed. I'll be back, but next time I will ask if it necessary that she help out. We just want our terrific server take care of us! read more

The food is great, but the service is 100% terrible. I did not get a single re fill on my drink after asking twice and then the third time I asked the waitress seemed a little annoyed. And I still did not get a re fill on my drink. All of my food including the appetizer came out at once and one of the dishes I always order was completley messed up and the waitress just sat it there and walked away. After all of that she finally came over slapped the check down and just said "here you go". The place has such good food but I honestly don't want to come back again after terrible service time and time again. read more

We ordered the sautéed low country boil, and it came in a soup bowl. It was bland and the quality of the shrimp and sausage was not good. We had the key lime pie which was also not great( my husband said worst he has ever had). . The service was good but the food was basic. We will not be returning. read more

Food is amazing! Staff is welcoming and helpful! The portion sizes are very generous. The hush puppies are served with a honey spread butter that I love! They had a little kick, I think there were peppers in them. Either way the food was amazing. Crab legs are a choice on the menu at market price. I purchased one pound as an appetizer. What I received wasn't a pound, it had to be two or three. I also tried the fried shrimp and scallops. Both were outstanding with generous portion sizes. My fiancé is a very picky eater so he stuck with chicken strips and fell in love. We were visiting from Charlotte, NC and wanted seafood for a good price. Captain Woody's didn't disappoint. I loved the environment. A live band was playing upstairs, we sat outside and watched ppl walk to the bars across the street. I highly recommend Captain Woody's to anyone. Very good food. Nice casual atmosphere. Cool old town location. Nice vibe. It is pretty loud. Not great if you are looking for a conversation. I had the captains trio. Scallops, shrimp and fish baked in a mornay sauce. Outstanding. Side garden salad was good size and fresh. Would have liked to see the local beers on tap and not cans. With this atmosphere, I would expect 5-10 good beers on tap. read more

First time in the area and the place was suggested by two locals and longtime family friends. The service was fine, hushpuppies were good. I was a little disappointed with the seafood pasta special I ordered. Mussels over angel hair. Lots of mussels, a little small but reasonable for the price, expected more angel hair and it was more like a noodle soup. It was ok, but just that, didn't blow me away. Seems like more of a burger/fish sandwich and apps place. Great location to watch the game and unique setup with history built in. Would go back but probably to get the grouper melt. read more
