Eh... it was ok. We did "13 doors" which did in fact have 13 doors, but none of them go anywhere so that was boring. When you open the 13th door, the item behind it makes you think there might be another thing to open, but there isn't. The storyline was unnecessary. read more

When I visited this establishment they had three separate locations on Yelp. One for Uptown, one for Midtown, one for Downtown. Now it appears to be combined into one location, even though there are three separate addresses you can visit. To top it off, the map takes you to a competitor now instead of one of the three locations. I have no idea what it going on over at Yelp, but it is not helping local businesses by combining/messing up the map. Anyway, the location that I had visited was the Midtown location. It was the one we wanted to go to since it had the room we wanted to participate in. We showed up a bit early, but were permitted to go in before out start time. The guy working was amazing and gave us all the rules and a few hints as to where to start, and he would pop in along the way if we were having a bit of trouble. The room was quite fun and entertaining to accomplish. We did hit a few bumps along the way, but were guided to exactly what we were missing. Funny thing happened here, we were in the last room, nearing the end of puzzles, getting witched out, and we were just finishing the puzzles when the exit door burst open. See, we hadn't completed the puzzle just yet, but the door opened while we were figuring it out. I crept towards the door and peaked my head out. The guy helping us said that happens from time to time. See the air pressure from when the outside door opens and closes sometimes causes this door to burst open. Honestly, it scares the crap out of you since you are in a dim lit room and it just busts open. Happy to say, even with the door busting open we were able to clear the room before time was up. Had a great time at Captive and did the Witch escape room. The props were well placed and didn't look cheap at all, so it gave you the aura of actually being trapped in a witch's lair. The customer service was 10/10, super friendly, professional, and the staff made sure our group was well taken care of! It was also very clean and the building felt freshly remodeled or newly built. read more

We did the charlottes attic one and solved the crime with 15 minutes to spare. One of our first times with that style of escape room and it was fun. Decent number of puzzles to solve in the room too. Helpful and friendly staff. read more

First time escape room mom with 15 year old daughter who did one escape room 5 years ago. We loved it. Brody and ? (I am so annoyed that I can not remember her name because she was fabulous) took very good care of us. It was a cold and rainy Superbowl Sunday evening and we were the only folks there. They could have come across annoyed and bothered. Instead they made us feel like they delighted in us. My kid wanted to ask for a hint, I did not, Brody quipped through the door "I won't judge you if you do". hilarious! We asked. We solved it in like 10 minutes - but did we? No. The "key" was just like a keychain leading to the next and the next and the next and the next. So cool. I loved the "psyche" factor. While we did finish, with less than 5 minutes to spare (out of an hour - thank goodness the kid talked me in to asking for clues) I feel like we learned the overview of how to do an escape room in a fun, friendly, safe place and we will definitely be back for more! read more

We've done 4 escape rooms so maybe we aren't the best, but we've escaped all. We tried this one as a family w young kids and we were disappointed that most of the clues were alike but not easy to figure out, and none of the decor really matched the theme of the room. Other rooms we have been in were highly detailed and the puzzles were all completely different. I probably won't go back next year. read more

It was a fun challenging activity for a drizzly evening! It was our (my husband, myself, & our 15 y.o. son) first time doing an escape room. The guides were great! We selected the Dracula's Library escape rooms. We didn't solve it in time because my husband put in the code, so he says but the lock didn't open. Yeah ok. It's a great team building activity that teaches you patience. At some point we were all wound up but brought it back to down in order to work together. Very friendly staff, but the 13 doors room was extremely simplistic. We solved the game in less than 30 minutes. It took us longer to solve some of the puzzles because the clues were so "on the nose" we didn't think it could be that simple. It's a single room experience with no surprises. The conclusion was so anticlimactic we weren't even sure we had won. They really should have given our money back. read more

We had a blast. Some rooms half of my family leaves feeling like we didn't contribute. This one struck a great balance between all age groups. We did the Dracula room. We caved and asked for a hint at the end. I don't know if we'd have made it without some guidance. They won't give you the answer so you can feel a little better asking! Staff very friendly. Captive Escape rooms was super fun! Our key master, Michal (from Canada) was awesome and extremely friendly. We did the murder mystery room and it was really interactive and fun. Nice place to stop by with your friends or family. You also have unlimited hints so it really is good for everyone. read more

This is an ok place... we have done many different escape rooms. This place leaves a little bit to be improved on. Some rooms have no real direction and you are not monitored or have any time count down. The rooms need a bit of clean up. The staff is nice and helpful. read more
