What a wonderful escape room experience! We were on our way to the Garden State Parkway and my kid saw "Escape Room" out of the corner of his eye and begged me to turn around and give it a shot. We are regulars at escape rooms near us, so I said why not? We had the pleasure of doing the Sherlock Holmes escape room and escaped with just seconds left! Our group was my wife, my 10 year old and me. The room was not easy by any means and our experience in prior escape rooms definitely paid off. We are really looking forward to going back for the Space escape room. I can't say how friendly and personable the staff were. We had some great conversations and she was very interested in our experience and was great with our kid. I'm normally full of ideas and criticisms, but the experience was flawless from start to finish. One more reason to add an "off-season" trip to Cape May this fall for us! My husband and I were spending a weekend away in Cape May and found this little gem! First time in an escape room and so glad we took a chance and went at 9:30 on a Saturday night! The experience was amazing from the moment we walked in the door. The staff was super friendly and kind. They made us feel right at home. We did the Library room and loved it. The entire time it kept us thinking and challenged us. We almost made it out but didn't get the door open in time!!!! The staff stayed and talked with us way past closing and even gave us helpful information about the area for when we plan our summer trip back!!! We only wish we had more time here so we could try out the other rooms! We will definitely be coming back and recommend this to anyone looking for something fun to do with friends or family. Beyond our expectations!! If you are an avid player you will truly appreciate the detail put into these rooms. Delivers suspense and thrill with awesome effects! You won't hear people in other rooms, you won't get bored, you won't be disappointed! We have done 2 rooms so far and both were super exciting!! Just by stepping in your senses will be pleasantly awakened by the awesome feel, sights & sounds urging you to get started. This is not a cheesy, thrown together type of place. The puzzles aren't overly complicated and you won't get those clues that lead to nowhere. Solving each clue is very rewarding, I may have screamed a couple of times. Check in was quick with great customer attention. Thanks for such a good time. Can't wait to go back for another!!! If you are new to escape room, just go!! You'll have a blast! read more

My daughter (11 yrs old) and I tried Blackbeard's Revenge. It was very challenging but not so much that my daughter couldn't help. And she loved it!!She even solved a few of the clues. Spoke to Bethany and she was super nice. I don't remember the name of young man at the desk but he was very thorough and quite helpful. We definitely will be going again. Here's a clue (not a spoiler) listen carefully to the instructions you are given. We had a great time and are going to try the other rooms when we get back to wildwood in the fall. For something different and unique try Escape May you won't be disappointed! Go with a bunch of friends or take your kids. Lots of fun with my daughter. My daughter and I went to Escape May during the Wildwood blackout. The staff were extremely helpful and gracious to us while they coached us and set us up in the Sherlock Holmes room. Once "locked in" the experience was amazing. My daughter's 10 year old mind was working like I've never seen it work and the joy on her face when she solved her first puzzle was priceless. The staff were helpful when we were in the room and amazing to us after the experience concluded. We are really looking forward to trying some of the other rooms with the rest of our family and friends. This is truly a hidden gem just outside of the Wildwoods and I would highly recommend it as alternative to another day on the boardwalk. read more

My friends and I vacationed in Wildwood early in October, and we booked the Space Escape room. Escape May was BY FAR the best place we've ever had the pleasure of doing one of these rooms! Not only was the room itself out of this world (pun absolutely intended), but I want to give special recognition to Jason, our game master. He went above and beyond to stay involved, help us out, make us laugh, and just bring such a great vibe to the whole experience. I should also mention that we were so thrilled with our first visit that we came back two days later to do the Sword in the Stone room! This place was amazing! This was our first time experiencing an escape room. Of course we had to do the most difficult one, the space station. However, we did escape with 6:56 minutes left! This was such an amazing experience for us as a family. We went with 5 of us. The room was set up really well. You would really think you were on a space station. We really did have to work together as a family. Everyone of us played a roll in getting out. The staff was extremely friendly. This is a family owned business and you it shows that they really put their hearts into creating a wonderful experience. My family and I will definitely return to do another room. read more

I can't rate this experience high enough! My family and I were on vacation looking for something fun to do together, read the great reviews and thought we would give it a try. We chose the library room and never having experienced an escape room, had everything explained patient!y to us. We had SO MUCH FUN! The room had us all intently working together on some very impressive, well thought out puzzles. The friendly family that created these amazing rooms are very easy to talk to and keen to help make it a great experience. We will go back again tomorrow, my family were adamant we had to try the other room - and I totally agree with them! read more

This a great place to go if you need a break from the beach and the boardwalk. The staff is incredible and make sure you enjoy the experience. As a family we've done a few escape rooms in multiple states, but this is one of our favorites. I love that they have sample locks for you to try out before you start, and lockers to keep your things in while you are in the room. We did the Billiards Room and escaped with time to spare. The staff worked with my son, to make this his proposal to his girlfriend, and it was amazing. As much as we enjoyed the current location, I can't wait to return to Wildwood and visit the new location. read more

My three friends and I did the Space room which was so much fun! The staff is extremely nice and the woman, Eileen, who runs Escape May is the nicest person ever. She helped us throughout the way and was very nice to talk to. Even though I am stoked, shocked, and really happy to have escaped a room with only a 17% escape rate, I am sad that it ended because it was so much fun. My friends and I will definitely come back for the Sherlock room and the Sword in the Stone room once it is completed. What a great time ! Not just something to do but an "experience" The staff was so friendly and helpful. The details in the Sword and the Stone Room were phenomenal! Learning that it is a family run and created business made it even better, learning about how some if the pieces of the rooms came together. This was our second visit and I can assure you that we will be back! Also, in this time of Covid, the staff was super respectful of the conditions that needed to be met. Super fun and lowkey! Went with a group of 5 for a night out on our camping trip. The owner was super cool and personable. We completed the library room, and she made it very fun and interactive. It was challening and the end was surprising! The props and ambiance was awesome. The building was really clean, and she provides lockers for you to store your belongings. Dont write many reviews but this place deserved one. Cant wait to come back and visit their new location. If this place was great, the new place is going to be bigger amd better! We have been to over 20 escape rooms and this one is by far my favorite so far. We had a group of 11 people ages 5-78. Everyone was happy and had something to do. The rooms normally accommodate 10 people but they made an exception and allowed us to bring an extra person. We did have to pay for the additional person but that was ok. The room was amazing. So much detail and thought was put into the room. The staff was nice and made sure everyone was having fun. Eileen and Jason took care of us and were very funny. We will definitely be back the next time we visit! read more

During a family vacation we decided to schedule an activity for a rainy day. I have done escape rooms several times before but this by far was the most innovative and exciting one yet! The owners a kind and unbelievably creative in the overall concept. We had 3 adults (2 newbies) and 2 kids 9&10. We were all able to participate to solve the puzzles and escape the room. We had so much fun that the girls wanted to do another one right away. Unfortunately they were all booked up for the rest of our vacation days. I absolutely love Escape May. They have such amazing, original, immerse escape rooms. And omg the staff is so friendly and fun! They make Escape May have the best personality in the Escape Room business. Definitely a must do if you're in New Jersey! I've visited family in Cape May in 2017 quite a few times and had the pleasure of trying all 3 rooms through my few visits. I feel like if I visit again I will do some of the rooms over. When doing the pirate room I literally felt like I was a pirate and wanted to dress up and talk like a pirate. So much fun! read more

A group of 5 of us escaped the "Space Escape" room (2 adults, 3 kids ages 15, 13, 10). We are very experienced with escape rooms, having completed many rooms around the US. This room was excellent! We escaped but it was tough, we had to use all of our clues. The kids were able to participate and helped solved some of the clues. They have fun, diverse puzzles and the room was nicely decorated to give you the space station feel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Fantastic predication quality and puzzles. They accepted in our walk in and we were able to do a solo or join a group. We joined a group and it was our first time ever doing an escape room. There was puzzles for all ages to be able to take apart in the rooms. Hints were given but never seemed like it was telling you exactly what was needed to do. There were many amazing puzzles with locks, lights, and looking under objects. We were able to complete the room and had a blast while doing it! 5/5 will be going back again soon! read more

My first escape room experience ever and it was AWESOME! The people who run it are so nice and funny. Had a great time talking to them and hearing how it's family owned and how they build everything!! They must be geniuses because the rooms are so intricate. My friends and I never laughed so much doing anything else and are already planning our next trip. We did have to bust out a few dances to get another hint... but it was well worth the embarrassment. Absolutely awesome experience! We are a family of 4 and my little one in particular was super scared of the idea of being in a dark room. Amanda took her aside and gave her a "secret" of the room to make her feel better. We appreciated this so much and my little one was super excited!
