I needed to get a Pirelli P Zero 245/30/20 installed on my car before Thursday for an event but that size and brand was sold out everywhere or on back order. Car Code didn't give up and kept trying different supplier until they found two left in a Texas warehouse, And overnighted the tire. I placed the order on Tuesday, and got the tire on Wednesday morning. The entire experience was very pleasant, the people there are friendly and patient, explaining and answering every question I had. My advice for any car owner (esp. German) would be to shop around for quotes, depending on what service or job you need to have done. The slew of 5 star reviews here are no joke, though. I came to Car Code back when its name used to be Walnut Auto Care, and this place is a far cry from a typical small auto shop. The staff here take initiative to greet you and they brief you in every step that they are doing. I had gone in to get a check engine light on my 328i diagnosed and Raul and Wei were very helpful in running diagnostics; they initially only found error codes that were vague but didn't just send me off on my way from there with no further answer; they ran deeper diagnostics to ensure my car didn't have any leaks that may be contributing to the error codes. In the end, they reset the engine light for me but told me to call them back if the light came back on. Calvin kindly waived the fee they would have charged for the diagnostic test. I eventually had to bring my car back in the following week since the check engine light came on again. Jody was helpful and updated me many times throughout the repair process (I needed the temperature sensor replaced). End cost was expensive, but not outrageous. The first time customer 10% of and credited diagnostic fee were pluses. The office of the place is small but clean and modern with a large screen TV, sofa, magazines, and coffee machine and refrigerated water bottles for you while you wait. Think a car dealership, but what sets Walnut Auto Care apart is that the staff here are sincere and treat every customer with attention and care. read more

I can't say enough great things about this shop. Though I live in Irvine, I towed my car all the way there at the referral from a good buddy - and boy was that the best decision ever! They were continually communicating with me for updates, found the best replacement parts possible, and turned around the repairs quickly after receiving a new radiator for my NSX. Prices were super fair and all of the associates were honest to a tee. My car was even washed for me on arrival. I intentionally waited several days to see if there is any problem with their oil change. They did a good job on oil change. Only minor complaint is if they could have told me the tire is dead before the tire rotation, so I don't have to do it again after I buy the new tire. I found Car Code on Yelp and inquired about fixing my SUV's AC. I spoke with James via yelp and he was very prompt and accommodating when coordinating a day I could come in. When I came in, I touched base with James and Louis. They were very helpful, kind, and prompt with their service. They immediately took my car in to check what was wrong with my AC. I had to leave the car overnight because they had to troubleshoot what was wrong but I got a call the next day that they had found the source of the issue and were able to fix it. They offered me the best quote/pricing for a transmission oil change, oil change (I always bring my own oil and filter), and tire rotation service ($108) for my Honda 2015 Civic, a price that no other local business could beat! Prior to selecting Walnut Auto Care, I called around local businesses (even my go-to mechanics) for an estimate. All were quoting me more than $150-200 for just the transmission oil change alone! PARKING: - There is a parking lot directly across from their suite where plenty of parking is available. AMBIENCE/STAFF/SERVICE: - Kalvin and Jody were very professional, polite, and welcoming. Prior to coming in, I called over the phone to get a quote. Kalvin easily was able to quote me for the services and scheduled a next-day appointment. - Jody welcomed me to their store, and offered me to wait in their waiting area in the suite. - Everything took about 1.5-2 hours. I brought my car here to install coils and had them align my car at the same time. My tires started rubbing all of a sudden so I made an appointment to have them align again and figure out if there was a problem that threw off my alignment so abruptly. I dropped my car off at 11 for my appointment and waited in the area for an hour and half. I came back and found they still didn't start working on my car. I ended up Ubering home and at the end of the day they called me and said my car is ready for pickup. They did not explain anything about my alignment nor apologize for taking so long to do an alignment and went right into selling me a new battery. The rep was a young kid who couldn't answer any of my questions about the suspension problem and kept insisting that my battery levels were dangerously low. I tested the battery at home and levels were fine. Also took to my normal mechanic and they confirmed it was fine. I'm not sure why so many people gave this place 5 stars but if you read this please find another place to give your business and save yourself the headache. read more

Found this place on yelp due to the number of 5 star reviews. So why did I give it 1 star? I called at 2:50pm to ask if there was a wait to do an oil change and the guy (James) over the phone said "no". Then I ask if I should make an appointment anyways for 3:30pm, since it'll take me some time to get there, and again he said no. "Just come by and we'll finish it in 30 min". So I got there exactly at 3:30pm (since I like to be on time) and asked to do an oil change, it was at this point the person over the counter told me it'll take 1 hour and 30 min to 2 hours!! What happen... It was at this point I asked to speak to James, since he was the one that told me it'll take 30 min. So obviously James still remember talking to me since it was so recent, and he was nice enough to check the back and see if they can "squeeze" me in. What I didn't understand is why they have to "squeeze" me in anyways when I had already called and was told no wait and 30 min to finish the job. Now after he came back. He told me it'll take 1 hour and 15 minute or a little longer. At this point I can't say I'm happy, because I had planned out my day and cannot be at this oil change place for that long. I mean that's the reason I called right? To make sure the wait is not that long, or else I'll just come some other day. I'm not being unreasonable here. James sensing I'm hesitant and wanting to come back next time. Start telling me it might take only 45 minutes or even "sooner". Look, I understand when I'm being upsell, I know they don't want to lose a customer/money so they start to promise things just to keep the customer. I'm old enough to see it. Anyways I told them I'll come back next time. Probably won't though. I prefer stores keeping their word. If they cannot keep their words on a simple thing such as time, then can I trust them when they tell me they use OEM parts and not aftermarket? Or they really use synthetic oil and not regular oil? It's a slippery slope. One last thing, after this experience I went back and see all the glowing reviews. What I noticed is that most of the other people that are leaving reviews only has 1-5 reviews on their account. That's kind of odd for sure...anyways you be the judge. read more

James Wu was super helpful. I came to the shop with my door sensor going off while I was driving and my car alarm going off all hours of the day. My check engine light and pretty much every light on my dashboard randomly lit up and this went on intermittently. While waiting James let me know there was a cafe down the street. The cafe was alright! He was thoughtful in mentioning that. The issue was not resolved unfortunately since my car needs to be taken into the dealer. With other issues, I will for sure come back! This place is fucking terrible. A month ago I went to change my injection coils and spark plugs but they tried to charge me 850 dollars so obviously I said no. Anyways I learned how to change them myself. Found out the mechanic left a mark on one of my injection coils. The one that was marked was broken in half. The mechanic broke my injection coil in half to try and get me to go back there. What kinda shit is that. Please don't go here. They will potentially damage your car to try and get you to come back and pay there over priced bullshit. They take advantage of people not knowing about cars and will try to overcharge you.
