It is with great ease that I give 5 stars to this wonderful business. My car was sideswiped while parked in front of my house, leaving it with a destroyed sideview mirror and the hull pretty badly scratched by the right front end. I took my car here after reading previous recommendations and was immediately happy to have done so. Justine, who I spoke with first, was specific, thorough and kindly answered any questions or concerns I had. Soon after driving my car over, she estimated the repair would take about 4 days. Like the other reviews, I had a fantastic experience with Marco and Car Craft. My car was hit twice in a short period of time, with 2 different sets of damages and 2 different insurance companies. It was complicated and Marco was so incredible going to bat for me--helping me figure out the best strategy to get both accidents covered and when to get a rental car for each accident so that I would maximize my insurance coverages in addition to dealing with the insurance companies so that I didnt have to. Also, there was one part that couldn't be found easily for my 1999 Toyota Celica. For well over 6 weeks Marco searched endlessly for this part so he could save my car. In addition and completely unheard of, after my insurance company maxed out on the number of days I could get a rental car paid for, Marco lent me a loaner car for the duration of this time, saving me a bundle in money I otherwise would have spent on a rental car. I couldn't believe how generous he was. And available. Every time I called he was right there for me, helping me figure out the best way to deal with each problem as it arose. And humble and very loving. And honorable. Marco is a man who clearly loves his work and completely loves to help other people. Without his generosity, I would have not only spent a lot of money on a rental car, but also I likely would have had to have my car totaled which I didnt want to do. I don't know how my wife found Fernando's place, but she had some work done on her Volvo Wagon and it was a great experience. I read a review that said this is the one of those wonderful Berkeley small business experiences, and I have to agree. I had some road debris whack my car, and I brought it in for an estimate. Woah, Marco is just so.. nice?? I don't think I've ever had such an open and honest experience at an auto shop before. Usually they take one look at me (young, female, and clearly clueless about car stuff) and start quoting me crazy prices... but Marco totally understood where I was coming from. I know I shouldn't be making blanket statements like this, but he really just seemed like a good person. I'm so used to getting ripped off by auto shops that my consultation with him almost felt unreal. I asked another shop for the same estimate and they gave me a price that was literally more than double what Marco quoted me. I decided to put a good paint job on my 1995 Toyota Corolla in 2005. The car had 63K miles on the odometer but the exterior was horrible. I heard about Fernando from a friend, so there I went. I have never worked with such a meticulous person. He called me several times during the process to get approval for this and that. These guys are really the best. I would recommend anyone to take their car here. I went to Car Craft (based on the excellent yelp reviews) a few weeks ago because I needed a quote on getting my car fixed after an accident. I especially needed my headlight fixed. Fernando got me a quote within a half hour of taking a look at my car, and said that if it went any higher than what he quoted he would still fix everything with no extra charge. It was more than I could afford, but then he called me right back and said he could take a look at my headlight and maybe fix it so that I wouldn't get a fix-it ticket. I went back the next day, he and his mechanic replaced the bulb and made sure the light was secure, and didn't charge me a thing! I got into a weather-related accident while driving across the country to Berkeley. I hit a post in the snow after skidding quite a bit. The car had damage to both driver side doors, and the rear quarter panel, trunk and bumper. The car was declared a total, but I had grown sentimental with it and decided to keep it. Fernando, the owner of Car Craft, helped me deal with the insurance company, including disputing the car appraisals and helping me ask the important questions I needed to ask from my insurance company. After I told him that I wanted to get it fixed even though it was a total, Fernando tried to cut my out of pocket costs. The quality of the work was fantastic...I was amazed with how well the car looked. Fernando's estimate was spot on. I went in for an estimate because my Solara had a nasty paint chip that was growing. Even though Marco was not there at that time, the follow-up calls showed that they wanted my business. Wow !! So much to say. Marco and Justine are so so incredible. I have never had any collisions before, and one morning I woke up to my car completely smashed with no note on it. Since this is another 5-star review for Car Craft, I'll give you my impression of other places I looked after my car was backed into while parked. First, I went to my insurance carrier's (Allstate) recommendation which was Classic Autobody. It was the most technically impressive, by far, of all the shops. Large, clean, busy, with fancy equipment (e.g., device for straightening auto frames). I liked the guy who made the estimate (possibly "Howard," an African American) who was sympathetic as well as efficient. Next, I went to M&M on the basis of Yelp reviews. The guy seemed like he would genuinely help get my car back on the road. He took a picture of the car's ID information on the driver's door panel. He said that he would get back to me the next day. I never heard from him. Premiere Auto Body was too small and crowded to get into. I passed it up. Next stop was Koehler Auto Body. The shop looked almost empty. The guy came out from the office, seemed bored. He asked if I had gotten an estimated from my insurance company. I told him Yes; he said come back it I want them to work on it. Didn't examine the car. I wondered if they were still in business. Since I had a $600 deductable on my insurance, and the rest was covered, I did not compare prices. Because the place I take my Volvo (which I really like and trust is Model Garage), recommended Car Craft, I chose them. Everything (and a bit more) was done on time in excellent condition. read more
