Was drivable, but were were nervous with a four hour leg ahead of us. They searched for new and used options, and didn't have a perfect fit. They sensed my family was nervous and found a mismatch tire that would get us home safer than what we rolled in on. 25 minutes and four ice cold waters later we were on our way for a modest sum. Joe was off to ravioli dinner with his mom and Vic to his adult kids. They took care of us like they knew us for years... even after they learned we were from Boston! They patched the tire quickly, were polite, professional, and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. What really stood out was that I had previously gone to Mavis in Queens Village for the SAME issue and was told I needed TWO new tires. My car is only 8 months old! Cross Island Tires took care of the actual problem with a simple patch and had me back on the road. Fast, honest, efficient, and no nonsense. Exactly what you want from a tire shop. I have been a loyal Mavis customer for many years. I recently went in for a routine tire rotation…read moreand was told that my tires had dry rot and more than 60,000 miles of wear, so I needed to replace the entire set. Because I wanted to save money, the staff recommended Mavis Touring A/S 2 tires. Ever since these tires were installed, my vehicle has consistently vibrated at highway speeds between 60 and 70 mph. Trying to resolve the problem, I spent a significant amount of money replacing shocks, struts, and tie rods, but the vibration continued. I finally took my vehicle to an Acura dealership. They removed the Mavis tires and tested the vehicle with brand-name tires--the vibration disappeared completely. This confirmed that the Mavis tires were causing the problem. I returned to Mavis under 60 days because I was forced to stay with my dad in hospital far away in South Carolina for extended time. They said their warranty is 15 days even with the protection package I purchased I couldn't get a refund. Spoke to the store manager and he would not give me a refund because I did not return within 15 days. I was stuck in South Carolina unfortunately. I feel that I was pressured into purchasing tires that were defective or of unacceptable quality, and this experience caused me to spend a great deal of unnecessary money. I am extremely disappointed and will never return to Mavis again. Update: Mavis Corporate has agreed that this was unacceptable what these guys did to me and authorized a full refund for me. I am appreciative that they resolved the issue for me. I still wouldn't bring my car here again because of how a simple tire rotation ended up costing me a lot of unnecessary money because of a mavis branded tire.
