I have been a loyal Mavis customer for many years. I recently went in for a routine tire rotation and was told that my tires had dry rot and more than 60,000 miles of wear, so I needed to replace the entire set. Because I wanted to save money, the staff recommended Mavis Touring A/S 2 tires. Ever since these tires were installed, my vehicle has consistently vibrated at highway speeds between 60 and 70 mph. Trying to resolve the problem, I spent a significant amount of money replacing shocks, struts, and tie rods, but the vibration continued. I finally took my vehicle to an Acura dealership. They removed the Mavis tires and tested the vehicle with brand-name tires--the vibration disappeared completely. This confirmed that the Mavis tires were causing the problem. I returned to Mavis under 60 days because I was forced to stay with my dad in hospital far away in South Carolina for extended time. They said their warranty is 15 days even with the protection package I purchased I couldn't get a refund. Spoke to the store manager and he would not give me a refund because I did not return within 15 days. I was stuck in South Carolina unfortunately. I feel that I was pressured into purchasing tires that were defective or of unacceptable quality, and this experience caused me to spend a great deal of unnecessary money. I am extremely disappointed and will never return to Mavis again. Update: Mavis Corporate has agreed that this was unacceptable what these guys did to me and authorized a full refund for me. I am appreciative that they resolved the issue for me. I still wouldn't bring my car here again because of how a simple tire rotation ended up costing me a lot of unnecessary money because of a mavis branded tire. read more

I made an appointment online with this company for a NYS car inspection. Arrived on time (about 1 pm) but there was a wait to check in my car. Once I checked my car in I was told that I had a bit of a wait (2 cars in front of me). There are stores nearby so went for a walk while I waited. At about 4 pm I was contacted by phone and the male who checked my car in is asking about the wheel lock key and if it's anywhere in my car. Personally I don't leave any keys related to my car inside car. I remind him of how long ago he checked my car in and that was the time to ask for this. He then insisted that he could not complete my car inspection without the wheel lock key. I then return to pick up my car only to find that it had been searched and nothing was returned to its place. So I ask the staff member who check my car in if he had searched my vehicle because it looks like everything inside was tossed up. He admits that he did because he had been looking for the wheel lock key. I asked for the corporate number at this point. He began to explain but I stopped him because I didn't care why he ransacked my car. I told him that searching a customers vehicle like you are the police is unprofessional and inappropriate. I was there for an inspection today. 11/17/2024 If you like making appts hours ahead of time and then waiting over an hour & a half to have your car serviced come here. What a joke this place can be. I called them at 9 AM made an appt for 1 pm & arrived at the scheduled time. I Waited almost an hour & a half. They told me they can only do 1 car inspection per hour as per the NYSDMV. I said don't you have cameras from the NYSDMV watching what you're doing? It didn't make sense to me. So after a little bit over an hour I went up and asked when my car was gonna be seen. The "manager" behind the counter says, your car is next. After approx 15-20 minutes of wasting more of my time, they lead me into the garage saying all four tires have dry rot and all 4 need to be replaced. The mechanic also told me that my brake pads needed to be repaired. They may have been right about this. Although I haven't had any screeching yet, but it could be possible it will happen sooner than later. Guy says I can't pass your car for inspection. I asked him how much he would charge for 4 new tires and all 4 brake pads, he quoted me over 1,400$. I said please take my car off the lift and put the tires back on I'm going to another shop to get more quotes. Then I paid 34$ for the "diagnosis". I told the service woman behind the counter, thanks for your business, I will not ever go back there and if I meet anybody who asks me if I would recommend Mavis of Yonkers, I will NOT be recommending that place of business. The brake pads are a different story and may be needed to be replaced soon. I will not go back Sam I am; I will not in a house or with a mouse. I don't think so Mavis Sam I Am. And I'm sure they prey on younger, uneducated drivers and take advantage. They are very good at being "Time wasters" @ Mavis in Yonkers. During my NYS inspection, the staff found a problem that needed repair, but they advised that the car would still pass inspection. They suggested that it be repaired, and the price was reasonable. They didn't pressure me in any way to approve the suggested repair, which I did approve,and which was done promptly. To Whom It May Concern I am writing to formally report a serious safety incident and extremely concerning service experience at your Mavis location. On November 29, 2025, I brought my vehicle in for a routine inspection and to have all four tires replaced for the winter season. I was contacted by Mr. Walter and informed that my struts needed to be replaced due to safety concerns and that the vehicle could not pass inspection unless this repair was completed. I was told this was necessary to prevent further damage, especially from potholes. Wanting to ensure my safety and that of my family, I authorized the repair. The total cost for four tires, struts, alignment, and inspection was approximately $1,700. However, immediately after picking up my vehicle and driving away, I noticed strange noises and shaking. The vehicle did not feel safe to operate and had to be returned to the shop for additional corrections related to the work that had just been performed. Two months later, on February 9, 2026, at approximately 9:30 PM, a terrifying incident occurred. My daughter was driving the vehicle with two passengers when the front right tire completely detached from the car. This could have resulted in a catastrophic accident. I am extremely grateful that my daughter and her friends were not seriously injured or killed. Upon inspection, three lug nuts were missing from the front right wheel. The vehicle had to be towed that evening. Since the Mavis location was closed, I had it towed to my local mechanic. When I contacted Mavis the following day, I was told the manager was out sick and would return my call. I later spoke with a manager named Jose. I informed him of the incident and that I was awaiting an invoice from my mechanic detailing the damage. I asked whether the vehicle should be towed to your location, and I was told to first send the invoice for review. On February 11, 2026 at 11:55 AM, I emailed Mr. Jose Lopez the invoice. At 3:38 PM, he responded stating: "GOT INVOICES, will review everything and get back to you shortly." I never received a follow-up as promised. I later informed him that additional damage had been identified due to the tire detachment. Instead of addressing the matter professionally, Mr. Lopez accused me of providing false information and called me a liar. This response is not only unprofessional but deeply inappropriate given the severity of the situation. Additionally, my mechanic informed me that the rear brake pads were completely worn. I am extremely concerned and confused as to how, during a safety inspection and while recommending strut replacement as mandatory for passing inspection, no one identified or informed me about rear brake pads that had no remaining life. This raises serious questions about the thoroughness and integrity of the inspection performed. I paid $1,700 for work that was presented as necessary for safety. Within two months, a wheel detached from my vehicle due to missing lug nuts -- a life-threatening failure. This is unacceptable. I am requesting: * A full investigation into the work performed on my vehicle * Reimbursement for all damages resulting from the wheel detachment * Reimbursement for towing and repair costs * A written explanation of how this failure occurred * Appropriate action regarding the handling of this complaint This incident placed my daughter's life and the lives of her passengers at risk. I expect this matter to be taken with the utmost seriousness. Mr. Jose Lopez then spoke to me today and said they did an investigation and according to his surveillance his workers did the right thing, YET I had to bring car back in less than 1 hour to fix what was done wrong initially and due to their incompetence, this happened 2 months later, which it should not happen. They are being reported to the BBB. I also asked Mr. Jose Lopez to contact me to someone who could address my concerns and he said, he has made the decision and there is no one else. read more

I have had service from this location more than once and have nothing but a positive reaction about their staff and care of my vehicle. Their assessment of tire and brake wear was honest and no hard sell. On the contrary - they let me know that the brakes looked nearly new and that I have until next season before needing tires. put down a $25 deposit on a tire, canceled the purchase 2 days later. They said I would be reimbursed for the money in 3 to 5 days I put in a claim with my bank after I didn't receive the money. The bank put it back in my account until the claim was investigated, come to find out the claim was reversed and the money was taken back out of my account. Don't bring your car to any of their locations for any reason. They're completely incompetent. They'll (maybe) fix what you brought it in for but make 3 things worse in the process. Items will be left loose, mid-aligned or poorly adjusted. That is if they even touch your car at all. I've had my car sit in the parking lot or on a lift for hours without a single person touching it (the perk of having windows into the work space) and they still said they were done and here's the price. A huge thank you to Mavis!! Driving from CT to NJ, we hit a pothole. Several miles later our tire pressure light went on. We pulled into Mavis. We were greeted & told there was one car ahead of us. Our tires were thoroughly inspected. Turns out all our tires were under inflated, no leaks (phew). Walter refused to charge us for the service. He, along with Arturo, kept us informed every step of the way. I would recommend them to anyone in the area and because of their honesty, I will try a Mavis location near my home next time I actually need tires. Made an appointment for an oil change. Person at the desk says "we're running a little late" can you come back I'll call you when you are the next one to come in. Ok, I get it. An hour and a half later "ok you're the next one in". Another hour and a half later, I go to the counter and say "you said I was next in". His response was "DO YOU WANT YOUR KEYS BACK"! This place has amazing customer service, I was very concerned about the process because everything was last minute because of Thanksgiving coming up, but Mercedes was able to reassure me that I could be serviced same day. She even made me aware of every policy and warranty that applied to my particular tire. Very knowledgeable and professional. The process was seamless and very affordable. This location has saved me again. One tire on a fairly new high-end car was slowly losing pressure. I'd run by the dealership and had them check the tire quickly. They found no nails/metal and added air 2 weeks ago. The seeping continued. I pulled into Mavis today to have the tire more thoroughly checked. They found where a nail (or similar) had pierced the tire but come out--so no metal present. They repaired the tire. Total time, including waiting for the car to have it's turn, was about an hour. Total cost was $30. Everyone was friendly and upbeat. Ladies room was clean, with soap and a working hand-dryer! Another great experience for me at this location, though I hadn't been there for 2-3 years. read more

Ever go somewhere with vibes that tell you you shouldn't be there? This was one of those places for me. I recognize it's a tire place, but as a kid I actually liked going to the Firestone on Rt 4 in Elmwood Park / Fairlawn NJ, so it's not what they're selling that's the issue, it was how many flies and disgruntled customers were in the waiting room. I made an appointment for 12 on a Saturday (rookie mistake, I know) but there were people at LEAST 8 people ahead of me who were NOT happy. Maybe they had less techs than anticipated that morning or something? But it was just not a good experience. I left, pulled into the gas station next door and ordered my tires from my dealer to be installed later that week. Yes, probably (most definitely) more expensive, but at least peace of mind. Upside? They were playing ION network on the TV, and this woman and I were watching the always excellent Law & Order episodes of SVU. read more

Visited this location within the last week for a front brake inspection. When they were done with inspection I was told I NEEDED front brake pads & rotors, rear pads & rotors, front struts and rear shocks RIGHT AWAY. And a power steering flush was recommended. Thing is, I drive a 2015 car with under 40,000 miles that is certified used and just bought from a Nissan dealer late last year! It was hard for me to swallow that my car needed all of that work so I went for TWO second opinions within the same week... Pep Boys and a Good Year Auto Service Center. Pep Boys told me my front/rear brakes/rotors are fine! Good Year said I have a good amount of brake pads left in front/rear and my front/rear rotors are good. Good Year also checked front/rear shocks/struts, they said front are good and rear struts are fine with the exception of a very small amount of leakage on the rear/drivers side... was told it's nothing to worry about and that I don't need to change it at this point in time. They also took the car for a test drive and said it sounds/feels good... I did my state inspection while I was there and passed with no problems. What Happened at Mavis is why so many people are fearful of taking their cars to a mechanic and do not trust them. If I would have not decided to leave with my car and get TWO 2nd opinions I would have spent over $1000 at Mavis on work that wasn't needed... SHAME ON YOU MAVIS, I will NEVER visit ANY of your locations again!!! read more

Do not go to this Yonkers site. The staff and mechanical persons who worked on my car do not know what they are doing or what they are talking about. After 1,572.00 worth of struts , for front , and rear shocks and labor , and alignment I went back for a front end noise. They tell me erroneously that I needed lower control arms for front end. Gee they tell me- this should have been done when you had the struts and shocks put in here . WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! I went to my mechanic- in business 40 years. He said the struts in front are the issue for the noise. They use product being struts- made in CHINA. They are not close to the manufactured ones. Too strong for this Civic model. Do NOT NEED lower control arms. So beware consumer. Do not go to mavis in Yonkers on Central Park Ave . The reason I didn't go to my mechanic, is I was too busy to get my car there. read more

Update; they offered to paint the wheels but not replace them or the wheel locks. I had to choose $450 or wait until they repaint the wheels. The damage was $1200. I would've gladly accepted the wheel replacement, wheel locks which cost $1200. Took car in to replace structs and springs. They damaged 2 of my wheels , wheel lugs, Rim, scratched paint, and didn't replace all parts of the struct and lied about agreeing to change springs. Called for price. Agreed on $980. Brought car in, they said they can't honor that price and it's about $1500 to replace structs, springs due to BMW model. I left car there and called in that afternoon, they said they are working on the car... 5 days later, they destroyed my wheel lock, drilled out 2 wheel lugs and damaged 2 wheels, scratched paint, didn't replace springs and didn't replace my wheel lock set and of course who knows what they damaged when they installed my struct without removing my rear wheel first. I was left with buying 2 wheels, having to find a shop to repair the paint and buy a new wheel lock set. Yes they lowered the price to match the initial price but the damage alone is over $1200 which was not covered. Please do not go to this shop if you love your car. I read more

I am extremely disappointed with the so called professionals at this Mavis. It was a sunday around 1pm when i called to bring my car in for the alternator to be replaced. I had broke down in the area & needed immediate assistance with my car, which the guy told me i could come & they would be able to fix it for me with no problem. So i proceeded to have my car towed to this location & an hour or so after arriving, they began wrking on my car. It was now 3pm & they said it would be ready by 5pm, which sounded about right time wise. So i waited for them to finish & when i got the car back it seemed to have driven fine & had no lights on the dash. I couldn't even make it out of yonkers before the battery light came back on, along with the engine coolant light & check engine light which was not on the dash when i dropped it off. The only light that was on the dash was the red battery one which i alrdy knew indicated that my alternator was bad which is why i went to Mavis to replace it. The car started to smoke & i had to pull over & leave the car there than wait for an uber at 10pm all b/c whoever worked on my car at this location didn't do the job properly. Now i have to miss work on a monday to go bck to my car, have it towed to mavis again & have them fix my car properly. Very frustrating & i sure hope they fix it properly or there will be hell to pay cause i was most certainly over charged, which was to be expected but for the job to be done properly not for me to have to come back for them to fix something else they messed up on the car. read more
