Worse experience. Victor is a crook. My car had the engine light on. He stated that the issue was the catalytic converter. I paid close to 2k to fix. They so-called fixed it but on my way home car starts acting up again. I bring it back and he says its the radiator. Pay another 1k to fix and the car acts up on the way home again. Now I'm angry and I tell him to fix the damn car and I'm not paying any more money. This crook (Victor) tells me that this time its a small leak in my water hose. LOL!! Never again! So as I'm a car enthusiast and my 04 Maxima_Silver Surfer is my main business. I would have done the work myself but I lack the proper tools. I came all the way from Poughkeepsie to have Victor work on my truck. The guy is very knowledgeable on mufflers and has everything in stock. I went with a Flowmaster outlaw. Victor has magnaflow as well, but that's not loud enough for me. In total for everything was only $400 everywhere else was quoting me from $600 to $1100 from the dealership! Now I have a custom made exhaust duel in duel out on my Toyota Tundra and it Roars down the highway now. Also he was able to finish the work in only 1 hour!!!! Took my mk4 gti (2003) there to have my 3inch downpipe installed. I was looking around for exhaust shops locally and found this one through yelp and decided to give it a try. I pulled up in the driveway and was greeted by the techs there who asked me what am I in for, they were able to assist me right on the spot even though i showed up a little over an hour before they closed on a Friday. They had my old broken downpipe removed and installed the new one all under an hour and the cars exhaust was way less loud and had a better tone like I wanted. Although it was a little pricey ($250) I guess it was worth it. I was extremely satisfied overall with the professionalism and the tech showing me everything he did throughout the process, very nice and professional staff and the owner was very professional too. I was in my old hood on a friday morning ready for breakfast with a childhood friend when that noise started as I was on Boston rd. I pulled to the side and damn the muffler is dragging along the pavement . I usually keep business cards in my glove compartment and gun Hill muffler is part of my collection . I made my way which slowly was 5 minutes away with that annoying sound and the mechanic pointed me right into the available lift. He told me the main clamp holding the muffler broke off and he needs 10 minutes to put a new one while checking if any muffler damage has occurred (none thankfully ). For 30 BUCKS and a little time later I was back on the road . I was in need of a muffler repair on my 2015 VW GTI, that was initially improperly install since a factory muffler hanger was eliminated. After suffering a Thanksgiving eve late night elevated sewer-to-muffler accident, I was in dire need for muffler servicing. So i found a muffler shop who with every syllable they spoke their quoted price increased. Sufficed to say i left that shop with no intent on returning. While driving home i noticed Gun Hill Muffler in passing and decided to stop in and entertain a quote. First, the service man did not hesitate to offer a free diagnosis of my situation. Second, they quoted me a fraction of what the other shop had initially quoted. Third, they performed more services than initially agreed upon at no added cost (who does that?). Lastly, (this should have been first however relationships take time to build) I truly felt as if I was their long lost beloved cousin whom they missed dearly. I am not one to write reviews, but I think this place deserves one. I was in dire need of getting someone to evaluate my p0420 code. I took it to several mechanics and they actually all said the same thing, i. e., I needed a new car because the cost of fixing the issue would be in the thousands. I was devastated and actually started to shop for a car on Craigslist. Ironically, it was in the auto repair section that I came across their ad. Their professional advertising intrigued me and given that they mentioned my problem specifically, I thought I would give them a try. I traveled from Jamaica, NY to the Bronx to have them take a look. Best decision I could have ever made. Although most of the workers speak primarily Spanish, their friendliness and transparency seemed to cross any language barrier. The main guy there quickly assured me that this is a problem that they can fix, all for a reasonable price. They even did a thorough evaluation of my shocks, suspension, and all those things under the car that I'm not even sure the name of (I am the most car ignorant person ever). They changed my muffler, replaced my catalytic converter, cleaned my O2 sensor, and fixed something else (I don't remember). In all, I don't think I paid over 500 bucks. They were quick, proficient, and professional. I was so impressed. Not only because I got my car fixed, got the the code off and had my inspection done, but because I also found an honest place to go. I am embarrass to say that I even went all the way to the Bronx to bring my mother's car for a tune-up. The point is, if you find an honest mechanic and they are good, support them. Took in my former cab 2002 Crown Vic, which was in a serious need of new catalytic converters. This car has four catalytic convertors (two on each side) which cost $489.00 each side for aftermarket and $1,946 for OEM. Needless to say, these costs are prohibitive for this type of car. Took it in to Gun Hill Mufflers and right away they were looking to save me money. They installed new CARB Compliant converters and completed some custom pipe work that saved me additional money. All told, I walked out with a new emission system for $740 including tax. They showed me that all of the existing piping was unusable and explained to me why they needed to build the custom piping. They took a lot of pride in their work and showed me all of the repairs. Given the magnitude of the work, it was done relatively quickly that same day. After the new convertors, the car runs like new, and no more Check Engine Light! If you have any exhaust or emission issues, Gun Hill Muffler is the place to go! read more
