If you value your time, DON'T GO HERE!!!! Do what you say you are going to do. The whole reason why I came in was to get the remote start done. Your manager renee promised that if I get the window tinted that day it will get done that day. I agreed. I even wanted to get a stereo installed but wanted to wait until next visit. I asked how long it would take as I lived over an hour away. Manager told me around 5:30 pm as they close at 6. I went back to the shop at 5:45 pm. Nothing got done the same day. I was told 15 more minutes twice and then tec came out and said another hour. Why didn't anyone call me and tell me so I would not have driven over an hour? The manager I spoke with that promised me it would get done that day, mysteriously went on vacation when I askedfor him. I had to take off work to get my car. Completely unacceptable. Manager was not professional enough to even call me and apologize. I had to pay for something I was not happy with. The contract was broke. I lived over an hour away and noone even called to say anything to me. Wow !!! Needless to say that I will not be coming back for the stereo. read more

I had a new radio installed and it took a long time. The guy doing the install had AirPods in and listening to his own music, which is fine, but it didn't end well. They were closing by the time that they finished the install, but when they returned the vehicle, I noticed a buzzing sound. The guy took out his AirPods and said that he didnt hear the buzzing (I wonder why). They said that it was probably a bad head unit, but didn't have any more in stock, so I would have to come back later. So I came back after a few weeks and told them about the buzzing sound and they replaced the head unit and another part. When I picked it up, they said that they were able to get rid of the buzzing sound. But when I turned on my car, it was worse. They said that they didn't hear it inside the shop. I had errands to run and couldn't let them try to fix it then, so I left. 2 days later I returned early in the day to give them ample time to troubleshoot the problem and fix it, and they said that they were way to busy to have time to fix it. WTF is that BS? You should have caught this the first time you installed the radio! I shouldn't have to come back multiple times to get you to fix the same problem! read more

They treated me well, gave lots of good info and did a solid install on the same day - now my car is secure and keyless entry is rocking and rolling! I dropped my Porsche off to have a new stereo and 4 speakers installed. It took longer than expected, but that was fully understandable. Said and done, I ended up paying over $500 for the parts and instal labor. They worked great for about a week and then the stereo quit getting power. I took it back in and they told me they could fix it same day. When I picked it up later that night, I got in the car to find that my cigarette lighter was missing. I was still in the parking lot so I asked a technician if it was in the shop somewhere. He told me that they had just closed up and that I'd have to return the next day. This seemed strange because I had just walked out of car toys and it would have been easy to run in and check for me. Trying to be understanding, I agreed to make the 20 minute trip back to car toys the next day. Before I did this, I called them in the morning asking if they had found it. They told me they'd call me back in 45 minutes. 3 hours passed without them calling me so I called again. No luck. So I searched my entire car several times looking to see if they left it somewhere in the vehicle and didn't find it. I decided to go in and talk with them in person about it. The manager agreed to replace it and mail the part to me because they had lost it. I thanked them and went home. Almost 4 weeks later and still no part, so I ended up buying myself a new one out of pocket. Recently I realized my high beams and turn signals weren't working whatsoever, so I took it to a local German car mechanic and found out that whoever installed the stereo and speakers had CUT WIRES DISABLING MY TURN SIGNALS AND BRIGHTS. I feel like I've been ripped off at this point because I payed over 500 dollars for car toys negligent work, and lost my OEM cigarette lighter. Mind you this is a 1985 944 and a OEM cig lighter costs around 70 dollars for one of equal quality and condition. Now I'm paying out of pocket for another shop to fix all the electrical problems car toys has caused. I would never trust car toys with my car again, and I regret ever going here. I called on 3/22 and spoke with Travis at the Car Toys on Canyon Road in Beaverton, OR, about the availability of Pioneer MVH-X390BT priced online at $89.99. He told me that there was a special that was a better unit that would provide me with HD radio for the same price. We agreed on that and scheduled installation for March 23. After a 2.5 hour installation, I came back to pick up the car, only to find out that they had installed a different unit, and that the cost was $299. I explained the situation and was told that I had "misunderstood" and that it would be another 45 minutes, minimum, for them to re-install the correct unit. My choices were wait (which would put my departure time at 8:30 p.m.) or pay an additional $200. The manager was not at all helpful - no offer of a price reduction. Nothing. Customer service experience was VERY poor. I suspect that this was an attempt to force me into purchasing a higher model? I've never had anything like this happen to me before, so I'm interested in anyone's perspective. read more

I had been shopping around looking for a new stereo for my car. I stopped in here first, talked with a sales associate and we decided on a stereo that would suit my needs. He went to the computer and gave me a final price after install and paying for all the pieces I needed. I found a place that would do the installation on the same unit for cheaper, however, really enjoyed the customer service I received at Cartoys. I talked to the manager and asked if they had a price match policy which he let me know they did. i told him the price as the other place and he was willing to match it and install the same day. Brought in my 98 4runner yesterday to get the stereo system replaced with something with an AUX jack and bluetooth capability. The representative was very knowledgeable and walked me through the different options they had, in addition to additional charges to that on the sticker price of the stereos because of installation costs and additional necessary parts. Installation was quoted at 2 hours but ended up taking only a little more than an hour. The representative also took the time to set up my phone bluetooth pairing for me when he handed the keys over. I've been here before, I wanted a system put in and couldn't quite pay for it completely. Got a custom sealed dual 12" sub box with two Kicker Comp-R's (2&4ohm selection), Kicker 1,200watt amp, an Alpine amp for my four in cab speakers (2x 6 1/2's and 2x 6 by 8's). They have a progressive no credit finance option with a 10% interest off the bat, went for it and payed it off before three months. If you do have the money, I do suggest paying for it all upright as the 10% is based on your total cost and not on what you can't cover. My other car just went to sh*t so I got my old system pulled out at half price labor because they put it in, then got the dash kit for my new car and they held my equipment while I got my car situation figured out. They are so up-beat and helpful and really want to provide service so they will flex a little bit for you - my system is rocking, great sunny blue day in my shiny new silver Chevrolet 2013 Impala LTZ! Purchased an interior detailing package from Groupon. I have a honda accord and it is considered a small car so it was $79. I made an appointment for the next day. Upon arrival, I was greeted and helped quickly and they were quite busy. I also purchased an exterior wash for $25 since my car was so dirty. I was told it would take 4-6 hours. I called in the afternoon, said it would be ready in about 20 minutes and I planned to be there in about an hour. When I came to pick up my car, they said it was ready but it wasn't. I had to point out that the tires hadn't been dressed so it took another 15 minutes or so. Overall, very happy with the interior detail and it was definitely worth the $79. I was not as impressed with the $25 car wash, the corners of the rims and windows were still dirty. The customer service I experienced in store was helpful and courteous as well. read more

The man who installed it was very nice and even put my steering wheel cover on. Two stars in extremely generous. I was promised that I would be out within two hours on the installation of my in-dash gps nav stereo. The first round was over four hours. Then I had to turn around and go back after I discovered that they forgot to install the tuner for my Sirius radio connection. The third trip back happened when they connected the phone piece up incorrectly and while I could hear callers, nobody could hear me! By the time all was said and done, I had spent over $1,300 and my entire Sunday was blown. For that price, there should have been free coffee, a comfy place to sit, and they should have gotten it right the first time. While I was sitting there the third time, I had to leave the building while they demoed a stereo to some kids and the walls were literally shaking. Sound proof those booths for crying out loud. Great customer service. I had my head unit replaced so my phone would work w my car. It took longer than expected and was wired wrong the first time but I brought it back and they fixed me right up. I was very clear in repeating the price plus the module I was quoted. Sure enough. Invoice says $150 misc labor. No part numbers. I hate this place and will drive to another city if I have too. I was trying to compare different auto audio stores in Beaverton for the best price on radio, amplifier, back up mirror and of course how they communicate with the customer over the phone. I called at least 4 stores and keep their quotes to compare. I called the 5th store, Car toys in Canyon Beaverton. PAUL RIVERA was very polite and very patient in giving me a quote over the phone for the items I want to install in my Jeep Liberty 2003. He was very detail on the price and service. Also some good deals and most of all I do not have to wait for another day. He suggested that if I can bring the car, they can install and finish it within 3 hours which is the most attractive option he offered that I can not resist. It was not only about the price and service but how he please the customer during the conversation on the phone. Aside from being very pleasant, he assured me that their installers are all certified and the lifetime warranty for the service is an added value. I did not a have second thought and went there right away. True enough, he gave us a very warmth welcome, he is not only very charming and friendly but very attentive too. He offered us to apply for credit card and luckily we got approved which is a big bonus. I highly recommended this store to anyone and will absolutely go back if I need to buy any audio parts in the future. Excellent service and 2 thumbs up to JAKE CURIOSO, the installer, he did it very careful in installing the car stereo, the frame, mirror and amplifier. Located a groupon for interior detailing and called to make an appointment, the person I spoke with Rene stated that I did not need an appointment because they were a kinda slow. I asked what time they opened for business and he said 9:00 a.m., so I took my car in for interior detailing, we went out to the vehicle and he explained what would be cleaned, he said that the would clean the cup holder and vacuum. I asked about shampooing the carpet and he stated that was extra! I asked how much extra and he stated $40 per row! I stated shampooing carpet is standard usually with any detail! I then asked how long it would take as I was considering waiting. He stated that it would take a few hours and that the vehicles are usually dropped off. So I gave my key and left. At noon I called to see if my vehicle was ready. I was told that it was not ready and that it should be ready about 4:00 p.m. I stated how long does it take to detail the interior of a vehicle? It was not terribly dirty or soiled. I told him i have been waitiing since 9:00 a.m.!! I called back at 4:00 p.m. only to be told that the detailer was just finishing up and he needed at least 45 minutes more!! It goes without saying I will be notifying Groupon and never take my vehicle there again!! read more

I was in the market for a new stereo system with Bluetooth and hands-free calling capabilities for my new car (well, new to me - I just purchased it about a week and a half ago.) I had been to this location previously for our other car and had a fantastic experience with everything from purchase to installation. I wish that I could say that this time was the same, but it was not. The salesperson that assisted me, Rene, was wonderful and helpful, so the purchasing was definitely not an issue. Rene was prompt, answered my questions, and was courteous the whole time. The problem that I had was with the installation. I was told that it would take around an hour and a half from start to finish, which wasn't really an issue. The actual time was closer to two and a half hours, with the explanation being that it was necessary to run a wire for the microphone. I can understand that, so I was fine with it and was ready to move on. It would have been nice to have received an update, but again - not too big of a deal. I was given a very brief rundown of the new system, and went on my way. I left the parking lot, and attempted to make a call. Great sound - but they couldn't hear me. Tried a few more times and still had the same issue. So I immediately headed back to the store and let them know that this wasn't working. This upset me - I would have assumed that this is something that would have been tested prior to giving me my keys back, but apparently it wasn't. It was determined after looking again at my car that the microphone wasn't functional, and it would take about ten minutes to replace. All in all, my trip from start to finish was pushing three and a half hours. Now, to be clear, I completely understand that sometimes thing happen and it takes longer than estimated. However, between the non-functional installation, leaving the remote in the box and the old stereo on the floor, not removing the Bluetooth pairing that the tech set up for his phone, and the dirt that is all over the inside of my "new to me" vehicle? I can say that overall I was not satisfied at all with my experience. This is likely the last time we use this location. read more

I used a Groupon for an interior detailing on my car and paid extra for hot water extraction for my seats. Booking an appointment was easy, the people I talked to were nice. However, the job was sloppy, definitely do not recommend coming here for detailing. The reason I wanted it detailed and bought the hot water extraction was I spilled a mocha on my seats the day before, and I told them that. When I picked up my car, I noticed it still smelled like the mocha I spilled mixed with the scotch guard they sprayed on the seats. There was some dark stains still present, as well as water stains on my back seats. They said it still needed to dry, once it's all dried then the spots will disappear. Well, it's been a few days, the stains are still there. I also lifted up the loose leather that surrounds the brake stick and guess what, still has coffee residue on there, they did not clean that up. I am very disappointed and will not come back for detailing again, money wasted. The 2 stars is for the pet hair they cleaned up that wasn't much to begin with. read more

I've been wanting to surprise my husband with a new stereo for his car for a long time now and I thought that our anniversary/his birthday would be the perfect time. So I decided Car toys was the "way to go". I've never had any car installations done before so I just went with a company that sounded the most trusting and reliable. There were a couple of employees that were super nice & helpful and the rest just REALLY seemed like they didn't want to be there. Which okay I get it I was there a couple hours before closing so they were tired and probably wanted to go home. But as one of the previous people said in the reviews, they are NOT good with giving time estimates at all. I was told it would take around 2 hours to install a back up camera and a DVD receiver. Those 2 hours turned into 3. It was past 8 (when they close) and no update at all. From anyone. I asked around 8:15 p.m. how close they were to being done. They said 5 min. Which was fine just wish I had been informed of how much longer it was going to take rather than waiting around wondering the entire time. -- Another issue was how much money the whole thing costs me.. It was ridiculous. I went in expecting to pay $300 for everything and ended up paying double. That's WITH bargaining. If I wouldn't have tried to work things out it could have easily been $1,000.May not seem like a lot to most people but me and my husband are still a young couple that cant afford much. Anyways there were a lot of hidden costs and things that i wasn't informed of..When I got the item installed I asked where the aux cord was and they said "oh...you have to purchase that and then we install behind the receiver." Half of the reason I got a new stereo was so my husband could play music off his phone. So basically if I wanted a AUX cord they would have to remove the whole stereo and put it in the back of it. So I said fine I'll be back...when I got home that night I realized how bad quality the receiver was and so called to see if I could get a different one and they said yes and that it wouldn't be that much more to swap them. So I was happy that they would work with me. I came back the next day and ended up paying $140. Got a nicer receiver but had to pay a lot of fees again. The new receiver I got installed is very nice but now it makes a TERRIBLE static noise...Took it back in for the 3rd time in 2 days and they told me it was the amp and that it would be $85 to "bypass" a switch. I left because I didn't want to put anymore money out.At least to this place. I just wish I would have been informed about that happening before getting it installed. Bottom line, I won't be recommending this place to anyone. Not worth the price or hassle. read more

Car Toys in Beaverton is a joke, dont waste your time! I stopped in to check out replacing the stereo in my wife's car. Nothing fancy but looking for some key features like bluetooth and iphone music control. At first, the young sales kid was pretty friendly and tried to give good advice. We werent ready to buy but the prices he was talking about were good enough to make us ready to buy. So, we came back prepared to close the deal and drop the car off for install. Kid now had a totally different attitude and WOULD NOT GIVE SPECIFIC PRICING for the units I was interested in, which I learned were out of stock, anyhow. He showed us a few other units with the features we wanted but, when I finally pushed for a "total-package" price, he was almost $100 above what he had quoted me earlier. Then, he tried pushing me toward a cheaper unit than the one I wanted, but with install it was still way over what he quoted me originally. My wife, usually the queen of patience and politeness, grabbed my arm and said "we're done here," and we left. As we were going, I told the kid why we were leaving and his response was "but the ones I priced for you had the bluetooth like you wanted." Totally unprofessional, I FELT LIKE I NEEDED A SHOWER AFTER WE LEFT! THESE GUYS ARE WORSE THAN USED-CAR SALESMEN!!! Next weekend, I am headed to Stereo King in Aloha, I hope they are more up-front and honest, as we were ready to make a deal today. read more

I bought a remote starter, alarm system a couple months ago and have had no problems, so I went back to car toys to get a DVD/Navigation/ Rear Camera system when my factory stereo went out. I waited allllllll day for the installation. They did not have the patch cords to hook up a dvd monitor on demand, so they suggested that I bring them back in and they would put those in when I returned. I brought them back later and they didn't not recall their promise to put the cords in. They wanted to charge me a $49.95 per hour charge to put the cord on. Very frustrating!! I am not pleased with their selective memory. Now I have a DVD system that can only be seen when am parked with the emergency brake on. Sorry kids, no DVD watching for you on our 20 hour drive! One of the reasons I went to Car Toys is because they have shops in most states that I live or work in, so I felt that it would be the best for customer service, repair needs. They hard-sell you to add items to the installation. Expect several pushy offers for wind shield repair, anti-fog coatings. They will tell you your installer "is the best one". My new speakers rattled (Car Toys doesn't test drive) and parts of the interior dash fell out after a few days. I have a simple compact car, they just jammed in the cross-over into the well of the door, where it fell and flopped around. When I contacted them by email, I was ignored. When I called, they offered that I could have the same tech look at it. I won't go back. read more

It has been a while since this happened but I haven't thought about posting on yelp and have just told friends and family about my experience with this location. While I was on active duty I bought an Alpine amp that I had running two 12's. It lasted one cross country road trip and stopped working. I never got around to sending it into Alpine to get it fixed. I called and was told that they do amp tests for $50. I figured if they could pinpoint what in the amp burned up or what went wrong. I know how to use a soldering iron and could track down the right piece to replace. I brought it in and paid. I looked around for some 10's that I figured I could put in and run off of it after I fixed it if that was a possibility. After about 10 minutes the guy came back out from the shop area and put it on the counter. The sales guy that I was with and I went over and the "service tech" or whatever they call themselves told me it didn't work. No crap that is why I brought it in. They couldn't tell me what was wrong with it and told me what I knew already and told them it didn't work when I walked in and over the phone. They wouldn't refund my money or make me any other offers. Very negative experience, I have gone back in to look at equipment, but have not bought there since. You can find better prices on the internet for the most part and even if you need to do some cutting or modifications installations are pretty easy. read more

I was a bit concerned about taking my car here based on the other reviews, but I ended up having a very good experience. My interaction with everyone in the front of the store was fantastic. The installers got the new radio installed in about 45 minutes, which was great. There was one problem with the installation (the backlights on the climate control didn't work) and I took it back in the next day. Eventually they got everything solved and working. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that I had to point out the problem with the installation - but they owned up to the problem and fixed it without charging me.
