The hours online say they open at 11 am on Sunday. I drove 45 minutes to get here. It is 11:30 am. The front door is still locked. I called and someone answered to inform me that they do not open until 12 pm today due to the fact they are "doing inventory." I am on a tight schedule on my one day off and can not wait 30 minutes. Most places do inventory during non customer hours. And if that is not something that can be done then take the few minutes to change the hours online for the day. Out of respect for the time of your customers. I will definitely never come back to this location. read more

Honestly, just walk in and take a look at this place. Does management ever do a walk-through? You'll get an idea of the type of people you're working with based off the condition of the inside of the store. The waiting area looks like they do oil changes there, the bathroom has probably never been cleaned although there's an empty bottle of 409 in there, and their showcase rooms look like a teenager's bedroom carpet with spills and stains everywhere. They are so overpriced that I know they can afford to hire a maid service to come clean up once a week. Damn. Now let's talk about service... I'm here right now at 1130am still waiting. My appointment to get 3 windows and an eyebrow tinted was at 9am which is when they open. They didn't pull my car around until 1030. I came to the store in person and made my appointment on Monday but the guy never booked it or saved the price he gave me but I was told I'll still be taken care of, eventually I guess. This place is nuts. I talked to 3 other customers so far and everybody had complaints about their appointment, not honoring verbal quotes, and one guy paid for one brand of car alarm and then they tried to give him another brand. I used to really like this place but until they literally clean their act up and get employees that respect their customers and their time, I won't be back unless it's to have warranty work done. Friendswood, TX location Before husband's deployment: CT installed door popper kit. During husband's deployment: I decided to customize his truck. The doors wouldn't open and the fail safe/ emergency switch was missing! CT manager/GM stated the tech no longer worked there. I requested that someone fix the issue. Months later, I was still trying to get the issue resolved but was being bounced back and forth between managers, stores and corporate. After dozens of AAA calls and countless battery replacements, we discover the door popper kit has a short! I contacted CT and ask for the manager to find out he no longer works there! Again, I have to start over trying to get someone to fix the issues. I still can't get in unless I break in, battery after battery is being drained, and CT still won't take responsibility UNLESS I pay again! Post deployment: My husband's truck sits with a dead battery and a string attached to a heavy tool to prevent lockout. He told me to do whatever I want with the truck because his injuries prevent him from driving a stick shift. I don't feel I should have to take it elsewhere because we paid for lifetime warranty and CT allowed an incompetent tech to shortcut his way through the installation! (Shouldn't someone check the tech's work before releasing the vehicle to the customer?) I AM PISSED! CAR TOYS DID NOT HONOR THE LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE DOOR POPPER KIT that was NOT installed correctly! Still NO ONE has called to assist because the techs no longer work there! read more

Prices were not transparent on installing the units I purchased. Adding a $30 fee to install the head unit and a separate $30 fee for back up camera. This fee is supposedly for little miscellaneous wire connection material and zip ties. It's added to the total automatically without telling the customer. With Transparency my review would be a ton higher, being sneaky about that is not good business. read more

Went in to get my amp tested to see if it was bad as it just stopped working but had no burnt smell and the dude wanted 10 bucks just to test it. if it had tested bad, I would have made a purchase of a new amp on top of needing a satellite antenna. but I don't need to be gouged. Worst salesman ever. Went in on Tuesday May 26th. I explained just what I needed bare bones upgrade from factory. He explained why I needed blah blah blah. I said no don't need any of that. He laughed at me and showed my the joke section. I explained my budget and he said "okay...I'll be right back let me take this phone call" and left. I waited 10 minutes and he never came back. I had scheduled an appointment with many days in advanced and when I dropped off my vehicle, hours later I come to find out they haven't even touched it. What is the point of having a schedule and/or scheduling appointments when they don't keep track or care for them? Rick was very familiar with my car and he did an excellent job on the installation. Will also helped me with information for possible future hardware. Finally, Will accommodated my need for a work area while waiting and found me office space on site. Very helpful people and addressed all minor bugs post-install very quickly. Spent a lot of money!!! Following day drove into work and system starting cutting in and out. Found ground wire was not making contact. They stripped hole that was holding ground so every time I turned up ground would break free. Dropped truck off night before and let them know I needed by 5 next day and they said no problem. Called before going to pick up and they said they needed till 6:30. They completed trick at 9:45. I had such an amazing experience in this place when I wanted to change my car speakers. The associate took the time to explain to me exactly my options and the different advantages and disadvantages of each. Also didn't mind teaching me some technical points when he felt I'm interested to learn more about the subject before making me decision. He also made the pricing very clear of what's the price of the devices and how much is the installation in each case. This was my first place to stop and check my options so I honestly took all the info and pricing he gave me and I toured in the area and went even to Houston area to other places that had great reviews about the service and the prices to compare offers. But none of them was a better deal than this place nor made any efforts to explain my options or gave any helpful info. And none even cared to separate the prices of the info than the installation so I can compare accurately. So eventually I went back to him to buy and install. The prices were the best and he gave me even better deals than he offered previously after a short talk, and they installed them in under an hour time! The end product was an amazing set of speakers, very professionally and cleanly installed, with an unbeatable price both for the speakers and for the installation service! They have worked with me every time replacing parts but it still doesn't work properly won't unlock all the doors at the same time or start consistently. I will not go back or recommend this place. I had a stereo input in my car. I was happy until i turned on my A/C. There was a noise. I told them they said they would v have to order a part from the dealership. After nearly threes weeks I had to call and find out the status..the part came in and they did fix the noise. However my A/C does not change mode...i have no defrost and doesn't go to the floor. Only to my face. So i walked back in and told them it's not fixed. The service guy comes out and tells me they did this as a courtesy and i have to go to the dealership to get fixed...i had zero issues with my A/C until AFTER my install. You get a great stereo but they mess up everything else then it's your problem. read more

Should have known things were going to go bad when the guy next to me also had an appointment and was turned away. After 5 hours, they hadn't even touched my car. So frustrated with Car Toys. we had an 11:30 appointment to have a keyless entry/security system installed in my son's truck. We'd been told when we scheduled it that it's about a 90 minute or so install. To me, that's setting a (not unreasonable) expectation that we would be able to pick up the truck in about 2-3 hours or so. When we got there the installer said they "might" be able to get it done before closing. Seriously? What happened to our "appointment"? Terrible, terrible service. DO NOT COME HERE. These people don't take their job seriously. I scheduled an appointment to have a device removed from my vehicle and was told that it would take up to one hour max. I was told to be there at 10:30a.m. I showed up early and sat waiting, and after a while I was told that I had 8 cars in front of mine and that they wouldn't even put a hand on my car until around 3pm. After much deliberating I had had enough and left the place because I had no other choice but to leave my vehicle. When I called the place again they told me they still hadn't even touched it and that it would be ready by 6pm. This was a scheduled appointment with a weeks notice. I can't even begin to imagine how other appointments or walk-ins are like. The guys here do not have any respect for anyone. The only helpful employee was a guy named Teddy but still wasn't able to help all that much. DO NOT COME HERE. I had a pioneer system along with alpine speakers installed in my 2007 Toyota SUV. I'm sure I could have paid a little less however when you consider the warranty and the professional work done it was worth it. I love the pioneer system that has Apple Car Play which has endless features. The system looks like it belong in my vehicle. Sounds wonderful. I would recommend them.
