I brought my car to get an oil temperature switch replaced and they ended up cracking my intake maniifold. they told me it was like that when I dropped it off, which is not true. please! stay away from this place! it used to be a good place to go to 5-6 years ago. it's a shady place place now. if you need air in your tire do not go there cause they'll call you and tell you you need a new transmission or something!!! very poor ran place! read more

Normally they have always done a good job. However to take advantage of people and not complete the job and to quote one price and then add charges without explaining or giving options is considered TAKING ADVANTAGE of people. Brought my car in because the brakes went to the floor, they replaced the back brakes and said I had a bad caliber, they told me the price and although it was expensive, I agreed because I needed to get it fixed. When I picked up my car, the price was a lot more than what was quoted. And the brakes still go to the floor. So still dangerous to drive and manager didn't seem to care. They also had added a brake kit on there that was $11.09, I was charged $110.90. clearly added a zero behind it. Didn't read right on my invoice. When I called about it, I got an agent that didn't listen and didn't speak clear English. She just kept asking if I wanted to make an appointment. I told her I needed to talk to a manager and she put me on hold and told me the manager was with a customer and will call me back. I waited an hour. I called back and I was told that the manager was still with a customer. So I decided to drive up to the store only to find out that it was closed for the day. Not once did the agent that answered the phone tell me they were closed but lied to me and told me the manager was with a customer all 3 times I called. I did call the next day and the manager said the invoice was wrong but then said they charged 110.90 for new lug nuts. And he isn't sure why it was billed under a brake kit. Never apologized, never tried to make it right and honor the invoice. Over $700 for back brakes, one caliber and "lug nuts" ! I called the Davenport store just to see what they would tell me and I asked how much for the same service and the guy was extremely nice and gave me a breakdown and even said you can bring in your own lug nuts if you would like to save money! That is honest!! The only reason I even went there was because my lug nuts were stuck and I couldn't get them off, otherwise I could have done the work myself. So disappointing that there was no communication! That is poor business taking people for as much as you can and not being upfront and honest! Had they been honest and quoted the correct price with the breakdown BEFORE the work, and maybe if the brake pedal still didn't hit the floor after paying all that money, then I would have something nice to say!! read more

Took no time at all and they figured out what the problem was, was a super easy fix (a rock stuck in the rotar) and they did it for me for free! As a new customer I'm super happy and will be coming here in the future for other services! Thanks so much for the great help! read more

Great Full Service Station: I had four new tires mounted with new TPMS sensors, a four wheel aliment, and a new front axle installed. Bettendorf CarX got all this work done in one day and came in $300 under what I had Google estimated it'd cost. When they couldn't find anything wrong, they explained that they didn't want to throw expensive parts at my car unless something was actually wrong, saving me a lot of money. We arrived in Davenport after a 7 hour drive with our exhaust rusted out, muffler hanging and looking at a lost vacation during the 4th of July. We called a few places the evening of the 3rd, but none could help. On the holiday, Kelly answered at Car-X and told us to bring it in as soon as possible. It turned out, she is a Chevy fanatic and had years of experience working on our model. Even on the holiday she got us a new muffler/exhaust and had it back in action in less than three hours. She took the time to show me and my son exactly what was required and let us watch (from a safe distance) as she and her team worked. We were able to salvage our trip through Iowa and Minnesota thanks to her and got back home to share the story. Great service. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the Quad-Cities area. Attempted to take advantage of a $19.99 oil change sale, I made an appointment with this location. I was checked in and asked to have a seat in the waiting area. When I was told that my car was finished, I went to check out and pay. It was at this point that the service rep told me that my total was $41.00. I said that I was just there for the sale price, I was then informed that the oil that my car needed was not included in that sale. I had had this work done on numerous occasions at the same location and was always charged the sale price. At the very least, this information should have been relayed to me before the service was complete. Will never return!!!! read more

I have run across unethical garages from time to time having lived all over the country; but this place had the absolutely most ridiculous reasons I've ever heard for not fixing a tire. My tires would pass inspection in any state that does vehicle inspection, but their manager insisted that I needed to buy new tires rather than them fixing the nail hole in each of my back tires. I grew up in a family of mechanics and my grandfather owned a garage and PA inspection station. I know what bald tires look like. Mine were not. When I finally got tired of listening to their manager (Kelly), I just went and got my vehicle. I called Firestone and they immediately got me in and fixed the tires, and made the repairs it needed before aligning it. No issues, and they just mentioned my tire tread is starting to get a little low in the back, but is fine for a while. I'll never take a vehicle to Car Rx again, no way! read more

The only reason why I went there was because I had a coupon for a full oil change, then of course they try to talk you into other stuff like balancing the tires which is $15.00 for each tire. I recently bought a 2012 car & they came out to tell me what things were wrong with it & how much it would cost. It's practically a new car!!! I took it to 4 other places & they really didn't see anything wrong with it. This company is a chain like Midas & Meineke, so be prepared for them to come out & tell you very nicely everything you need to get done & you should get it done as soon as possible, even if it is a newer car. They will go to extreme lengths to find any little thing they can that they think is wrong with it. Next time I will not go to a chain & do my oil changes & auto repair if I need it, to an independent business!!! read more

Service was horrible, never called to tell me when my car would be done. I had to call and ask, they gave me a wrong date and then called me a liar when I called about the date they told me it would be finished. Spent thousands of dollars for a new transmission and when I picked it up t was leaking oil, when I took it back they told me that it was like that when I brought it and it wasn't. Took in my 2008 Toyota corolla in with 41342 mile for tire inspection, I was told I needed new drum & shoes in tune of 540.00. I had it fixed. I hit my self everyday for being screwed by them. A week before, I had smart Toyota inpect the brakes, was told i needed new tires only. I still have the inspection sheet. Never again Mike Freedom & Carx!! read more
