What we learned, though, is that he's an exceptionally good liar. He lied about pretty much everything - even the things he put in writing. For example, his contract with us specifies that he would use brushes, not just sprayers (this was an exterior painting project). Not only did he not use brushes, he had no intention of telling us. His crew chief exposed the depth of this lie when he told us that they never had any intention of brushing our house. He said that in his 10 or so years painting, a house like ours would never be brushed. There were other lies, too, like the one where he said they'd use two coats of paint (they used one). But the biggest lie was the last one, when he told us he would do whatever was necessary to make us happy, and that we had a two-year guarantee. He told us this the day we handed him the final payment in full. He didn't come back when he said he would to fix the things we found initially and reviewed with him, and he's not returning our calls. This was weeks ago. As the real Chase has been revealed, we've looked more closely at his work, and discovered that they did a terrible job of prep. There's peeling paint in countless places. I have photos if you'd like to see them. I've had a few painters inspect their workmanship and I think it's fair to say they're appalled. We've hired one of these painters and will pay him thousands to fix the problems that Chase created. I want you to know it gives me no joy to write this review. We'd much rather pay to have the house correctly prepped and painted and move on. But we think it would be irresponsible to not share our experience with you.

Unfortunately, the workmanship has been disappointing from the beginning. The deck boards are uneven and improperly installed, allowing water to pool and collect against the house. There are noticeable gaps in trim and wrapping, the stairs have settled and developed a dip that has caused the railing to bow, and even the stair lights have begun pulling out because of the movement. Whenever I raised concerns, I was repeatedly told everything looked fine or that I needed to wait over a year for the deck to "settle." When the problems continued, the responsibility shifted to me instead of the workmanship. The most disappointing discovery came later. I recently learned that the deck did not pass the county requirements for supporting the future four-season porch that was included in my contract. I now have to spend thousands of additional dollars correcting work that should have been completed properly from the start.
