I recently had a disappointing experience with Javier from Carbon Window Tinting LLC that I feel compelled to share as a warning to potential customers. ## What Happened In March 2025, I brought my brand new 2025 Chevrolet Silverado TrailBoss 2500 HD ($80,000 vehicle) to have the windows tinted. Before the work began: * I pointed out smudges on the driver's side windshield in my direct line of sight * I told Javier I had already tried removing them with Windex without success * Javier attempted to clean the smudged area with a razor blade, but the smudges remained After tinting was complete, the smudges were still clearly visible. When questioned, Javier claimed these were "imperfections in the window itself" that couldn't be removed. ## My Concerns * Javier installed tint over visible smudges without informing me beforehand, despite knowing I was within walking distance of his shop * He never disclosed that his shop "doesn't offer polishing services" before proceeding * The smudges were approximately the size of a Post-it note and directly in my line of sight ## What I Discovered * I took my truck to Rydell Chevrolet in Northridge (where I purchased it) * Their inspection concluded the smudges were NOT windshield imperfections * They recommended their trusted tint company (The California Tint Shop) * The technicians easily removed the "permanent imperfections" using low-grade steel wool - proving these were NOT factory glass defects as Javier claimed * Professional assessment from both Rydell and The California Tint Shop confirmed the tint job was not performed properly ## The Resolution * I had to pay The California Tint Shop $350 to remove Javier's work and redo the windshield with LLumar CTX 50% * When I requested a reasonable $250 refund specifically for the windshield tint (not the entire $470 job), Javier refused * He claimed the installation was "done properly" despite clear evidence to the contrary read more
