I went to day to buy my kids a Yugioh starter deck. I asked the guy working behind the counter if he could just scan thru my old deck. (11 yrs old) he let me know 4 of my cards r banned from play/tournament and that only three cards were worth keeping.. Lol so I ended up buying new decks to start with n build up not just for me but also my husband was into the thought of trying it also.. Ha... I got a ton of info on what the cards are like now and what to look into, he gave me a site to check out on other cards and rules of game play. I spent almost a hundred for 4 decks , card sleeves, and card boxes... He took the time to even look into cards my son continuously asked about with a smile, and no one there gave me the eye or dirty look cause I had six kids with me... ( 2 newborns that one woke up n started whining. A 3yr old n 5yr old that kept trying to play musical chairs) the other two kids are the ones that behaved since they were interested in getting their decks... Went in not knowing anything about MTG, only that it was a card game. My son was interested in learning so we decided to visit this shop through yelp reviews. I've been to Card Addiction for the past four weeks for FNMs, and I can say that it is one of the best gaming experiences I've had in a long while. There's tons of room, a wide selection of standard, modern and EDH staples at great prices, and best of all friendly staff and friendly regulars. This store is great. They are open late every night 2pm to 2am, they have great prices on mtg Standard packs 4 for 11. They have a great selection of snacks, and very friendly and helpful staff. This store is a heavy competitive and heavy casual EDH Commander store. If your looking to play EDH you can almost always find someone to play with if you come in during the evenings. Downside of the store is it can get to cold unless you tell the staff. They don't fire fnm events because the previous employees went through trouble going back and forth offering draft and standard one or the other or both and it caused players to not comeback because they didn't offer both. Over the weekend there's D&D players that take up the back room and smell of bad BO. read more

I called in and asked if they held standard tournaments as well as draft. They said yes so I went into play draft. It was a pretty fun experience. Afterwards I wanted to buy some cards for my brawl format deck, so I asked if they had a Chandra, Torch of Defiance holo. The guy working there said they did. I found out this man was the owner and boy does he have a lot of stuff. I searched on tcg player and was hoping to pay $40-43 for the foil Chandra, be he unloaded $50 on me and I said, "could you do $40 to match tcg Low?" That's when I realized that I have made the planet's biggest mistake and here's why. He looked at me and said no, he couldn't. I told him that the sellers on tcg have it listed for 40 and I'd just get it online. He then lectured me with the fees that he spends if he listed it online and included weird things like, "oh I have to pay for the electricity, the lights, the air conditioner, the employee labor costs" and I countered by saying, "if you listed it for $40 online, you only get $34 after fees, so I'm paying $40, which is minimum retail value." He responded, "look nobody in the world had a better magic inventory than me. I have everything, so regarding this case wise I can charge whatever I want. I don't care if you're going to buy online, nobody has a better inventory than me." At that point, I just said, "I'll just leave" and he said, "so you don't want the Chandra?" Of course not. As I was packing my things he said to me, "in the future, please don't ever argue with me when it comes to cards." It's a shame such an amazing shop is ran by such a whiny crybaby. I play with mature players, not losers. read more

Best card shop honestly. I will drive 1 hour from West Hollywood when in the mood to play or purchase cards. It's really awesome there. Really good prices on cards, very clean, and comfortable. The owner Kevin is cool too and told me personally if we need any cards they are able to order them and have them to us within a few days. Tournaments are going on often and have very good prizes. Pretty nice fnm, owner/manager was a bit pushy but has some pretty legit deals

I wanted a Ghalta Primal Hunger one night for my EDH deck. The worker charged me $10 for a near mint one, when I could get it for $8 online. At first I didn't mind until I wondered why. One worker said they charged the median because the owner is greedy. So then I sat down and was scrolling through my library and I overhear the conversation between the worker and one of the employees saying that he charges $1 minimum per common card. I bought a bunch of cards for my commander deck that were common and a majority of them were 25 cents. The owner said very loudly that he would fire the employee if he did not sell cards for $1 per card no matter how many a customer buys and he didn't care if they bought 50 or 100 cards. No customer should come into the store and pay over $100 for a list consisting of mostly common commander cards. So then the owner pulls out the Ghalta that I want out of his binder and I notice there's a scratch on the upper left edge and I say to him, "Hey this isn't near mint, could you charge me light played price?" Because it isn't exactly near mint. He says, "let me get you a near mint one, then goes behind the counter, pulls out a sharpie and just blows on it. He gave me a sharpied Ghalta to make it seem like it's near mint. I ask him, "why did you sharpie the card?" and he says to me, "I did not sharpie the card" and puts the sharpie away in his pocket as he says that, so he basically was lying and trying to pass off an edge worn card as near mint. I declined and he said "no problem." So then I found out from a worker store buys yugioh and magic cards at garbage rates, then justify that the only way to make money is through said garbage rates because they have to pay for labor costs. I'm sure workers don't have to pay rent for a building, so they should be able to pay higher for cards like my Alpha edition Mox Jet. The card is $7200 online and can be insanely higher if it's graded. I am fairly confident that I can get a 9.5 on my BGS and this short little Asian worker or owner says, "yeah I'll offer two grand." I said that there are listings for over $6000 and he said "$2100." What a joke. Two grand for a potential 9.5 Mox jet that can sell for over 60 grand. Also I wanted to use the restroom and there's no key, so I walked into some fat guy taking a deuce. Worst store and worst store owner ever. If you want to save money just buy online, the owner is greedy. Do not buy or sell. read more

In selection alone, I've never had a problem finding the card I needed for any of my Magic decks. The staff there is very patient and amiable, even willing to play pick up games if the traffic is low. The pricing for singles could be better, but it beats driving out to Frank and Son's to buy that obscure card. Their prize structure for drafts are the best I've seen, $11 bucks for a keep draft and a pack per head into the prize pool. Stop by! read more
