Businesses should not falsely advertise. Businesses should not double down on their false advertising when called out on it by a customer. Their website says they have $1 oysters at happy hour. They do not. Their staff member shrugged when I told them this and said that the new price is the new price. Cool. Everything else about my experience is tainted by this. It does not really matter that the rest of the meal was decent or that the employee with the huge mustache and the d20 pin seemed very sociable and knowledgeable about his craft. But I won't remember that. I'll remember a three dollar overcharge instead. read more

What a great little place! Spent a few nights with a buddy down in AC for a little winter break without the family. We had dinner reservations but decided to get there real early and check out the happy hour. Happy hour (4-6pm) was wonderful. It wasn't crowded at all at 4 and they had a nice selection of food and alcohol at discounted prices. So nice a selection we cancelled our reservation and just tried a bunch of happy hour dishes and some classic cocktails. All the food was great. I ordered a small salad with chicken off of the regular menu as my last item and it was large and delicious. Bartenders were friendly and the place just had a nice, local non-casino vibe. What an awesome place! My boyfriend and I were in AC for 2 nights and came here twice because it was so good. The happy hour deals are great and the bartender (Brian) has created a great cocktail menu. The two guys behind the bar were friendly, quick, and attentive and they had a woman helping out as well. My partner and I are into cocktails so it's fun to be able to chat with the mixologist. We tried a lot of food on the happy hour menu- crispy broccoli, fried Brussels sprouts, baked oysters, charcuterie, duck and chicken wings, shrimp cocktail. Most of it was great but some of it just had too many flavors going on. I love when chefs try new things but think some recipes may need just a hint of tweaking for my palate. I visited the cardinal for happy hour. Let's get to it! *The food: -The Croquette- A nice crisp on the outside and whipped ricotta texture in the middle. This was one of the dishes I enjoyed the most when I visited. -Duck Wings- A sweet and spicy dish. The side of creama was a unique dipping sauce. A nice twist on a classic ranch dipping sauce that's typically paired with a classic wing dish. If you're looking for wing with more meat, I wouldn't opt for this wing but it is unique! -Dressed oysters: The bacon flavor wasn't very prevalent. The spinach flavor was more prevalent. I can't say I like this dish. The dressing was a bit soupy. The dish was served lukewarm, and the breadcrumbs weren't entirely crisp on top. - Truffle Fries- I liked the truffle fries, as they had a good balance truffle flavor (not all truffle fries do). The truffle flavor wasn't too strong and over powering but the dish was still flavorful. -Cardinal Smash Burger: The smash burger was a bit greasy. It felt a hit thrown together. I wish it would have had a stronger Siracusa aioli flavor. Parking: A neighboring parking lot is available for guest parking. Neighboring street parking is also available if the lot is full. Aesthetics: I love the aesthetics of this place. The lighting and style were very nice! I was looking for a dinner spot and didn't check out their menu because I associated it with a local restaurant near me with the same name who serves breakfast and brunch food. I finally clicked on the link and I was very surprised. Not only did they have vegan options but gluten free as well. I needed a place that was reasonably priced as well, which this was. I also needed a place that served meat and could accommodate a party of 10 people at 8 pm. They had a table for us with only about a fifteen minute wait. This place is located just off the boardwalk. We loved the cute decor and the furniture as well. We all loved our food! They don't have too many vegan options but I got Fried Brussels Sprouts. I had the red chili flakes taken off and it was a good sized portion. This dish was really very tasty because of the sweet flavoring mixed with the creamy tofu hummus. I also got the fries and this was a huge portion of skinny fries that resembled fast food fries however they were delicious. My friends got chicken wings, burgers, and carrot cake and they all loved their dishes. We all said we would definitely come back to eat here in the future. read more

This should really enhance the orange loop. Food highlight was duck wings in hoisin sauce. They were excellent, and everything you might expect them to be (although I'd never tried them before). Sweet, tender, crisp on the outside. The brussels sprouts were good, but also sweet. I would choose a different appetizer if I were getting the wings. Also, be prepared for a lot of heat on the Thai chili hummus base. Liked the smoked chicken a lot, although I was hoping for the fried smoked chicken on the new menu, which sounded even better. Let me tell y'all about this place. First off, the ambiance is amazing. Industrial garden vibes and it was so cool. Everyone we spoke to from the staff was nothing but helpful and polite. I wish I remembered our servers name because she was lovely! They didn't have blackberries for the cocktail I ordered and she quickly let me know and gave me alternatives. I ended up getting it with strawberries and it was so yummy! It was a silver tequila cocktail. My boyfriend tried two different cocktails and he loved both. The bartender gave us a fun fact about it being called "ladder 8" because of the ghost busters. Everything we ate was TASTY. I got the mushroom and goat cheese grilled cheese and you'll see the picture only has half of it because I couldn't stop eating the first half. My boyfriend got the lamb burger and didn't leave a crumb of it left. The ingredients were obviously fresh and everything seemed like it was created with a culinary intention. When I think of a "farm to table" restaurant this is what I imagine. I would 100% recommend this to anyone. My ONLY complaint was the French fries. I asked for extra crispy and they were still on the soggy side but that's okay because it left room for me to try their cheesecake which also was so well cooked. read more

The space is amazing. It's huge. I can imagine the outside is a lot of fun when it's nice out. The bars are cool and the drinks were good. Our waiter was very nice and so I wish I could give a better review but the food was not good. Maybe because it was Memorial Day weekend they were off but the food was bad. The bread was inedible, grainy almost like eating dry sand. One of the appetizers was good, but the other was horrible. The duck wings were surprisingly good the potato croquettes were inedible. Unfortunately they were out of a lot of the menu, I guess due to the holiday so 2 of us got the burger. The bun was like bread that had been served and the meat was off. Neither of us could eat them. The fries were okay but not hot by the time we were served. The pork chop I was told was good, but the salad wasn't. I really wanted to like the place and was extremely disappointed considering the place was a 4.6 when we booked to go. Hopefully it was a just a bad weekend but there are so many other options similar in AC I'm not sure I'd venture there again. read more

Cool industrial-looking spot with a different menu for the area. Had croquettes and Caesar salad for apps - the small size was HUGE. And for mains between the halibut and the salmon - get the salmon. Besides it being a tad cheaper it also has such an amazing taste. Halibut was ok but Miso salmon taste was outstanding. Also had Brussels sprouts salad (not the app, the salad) which was good with the pecans and craisins. Blueberry pie dessert was pretty good. Server was very sweet and fun. Atlantic City has a gem on its hands! This place is just superb in terms of executing a thought out end-to-end experience. You can appreciate the ambiance, the respect the kitchen and staff has for each ingredient in every dish and drink, the intention and execution of each item that arrives to your table, and the care everyone has for delivering on every moment at Cardinal. From the moment I called to make a reservation to the second my partner and I finished our meal, we were both awed and grateful having had a unique experience as the one we had. The ambiance was great - combined with the interior design, overall aesthetic, and the aforementioned items made for an unforgettable experience. For starters, we ordered the shrimp cocktail and fried Brussel sprouts, which was absolutely stellar. Next, we ordered the beef tenderloin. It hit all the high notes I expect out of a well executed dish, which it was. The depth of flavor, texture, and technique to execute the dish was clearly evident to my partner and I. Lastly, we ordered a couple of cocktails: The Bourdain and Cardinal in Paradise. You can definitely taste the cachaça in The Bourdain (side note: appreciative of the nod to Tony). And the flavors really came through and blended well in the Cardinal in Paradise. Overall, if Cardinal isn't awarded Michelin stars I'm going to riot. It executes on every level, without a doubt. Already planning my next trip back to Atlantic City - and we look forward to returning more than a few times. read more

It's not so easy to find a good restaurant in AC, most of them just brings in tourists and doesn't care much of the food, and we are picky eaters. But for the Cardinal I think we have to come back to AC from NY for their food! It was exceptional! Appetizers were at point, perfect amount, try the duck wings, meat is very tender and juicy, and omg the oysters were to die for, especially raw. Super fresh! We had halibut for dinner and pork chops, the taste balance was at point for both of the dishes. I think chef deserves Michelin star already. Our waiter was super nice and friendly, very attentive and he even sang for my birthday! I think I forgot to take a picture of cheesecake, I ate it so fast! Our waitress Victoria was very nice. It was Saturday night the restaurant was pretty empty. The appetizers were okay. The wings were not very good. I ordered the halibut it was very good. My husband ordered the scallops they give you three which is ridiculous for over $30 a plate. The scallops two were cold and one was warm and didn't taste good at all. The cheesecake also wasn't good. I might come back in the warm weather sit outside and order a Burger. Hopefully the burgers are good. read more
