To jump right in, the food here is amazing. Just the Brussels sprouts appetizer alone was what inspired this review. They have plenty of great food options from light and refreshing to a juicy burger with bacon. I've never been disappointed by anything I've tried here. The servers are always very nice and attentive, and I love how they bring out new utensils on a serving tray, it seems very professional. Aside from that, the overall ambiance of the restaurant is welcoming from the moment you walk in. I love all the greenery (and of course, the cardinals) all throughout the building, and the restrooms are so clean! Overall, my family and I love this restaurant and we always make plans to eat here when we're in the area. read more

We had the chance to experience a whole day of fun, sun, and food at this trendy location. Our friends and family had a great time in the garden area playing all the games: Connect Four, Giant Jenga and Corn Hole! Our competitive Side came out!! But hey, that's serious bonding for us! We tried several of the dishes for lunch and mixed drinks. Their Zero Proof drinks were also delicious. After a nice day out in the sun and being super close to the boardwalk and shore breeze, we stayed for dinner. Their featured special was superb, along with the chicken dish, which was absolutely amazing too! We ended with some dessert and both the flourless chocolate cake and blueberry pie a la mode, did not stand a chance, even with full bellies we ate the whole thing! Last night we dined at Cardinal with a few other couples. We live here in AC and we were so excited for them to open, well they didn't disappoint. Not only was the food and the atmosphere off the charts wonderful but the staff are incredible. I had a medical incident and fainted from low blood sugar, the staff cared for my like I was family. They hugged me, held me, brought me juice and were just plain amazing. I'll never get over or forget their kindness. Thank you staff, you were all angels! read more

My husband and I came here for Sunday Brunch. Loved the ambiance, décor and option of dining outside. They had live music outside which was nice. The duck wings and grilled mushroom/goat cheese was amazing- we loved it, the French toast was ok. They also give complimentary cinnamon buns which I think is why we thought the French toast was ok, at that point we had so much sweets/bread- it was hard to finish eating it. If we knew they were going to give us cinnamon buns we wouldn't have ordered the French toast. We didn't order this but noticed they had a bloody Mary cart which I thought was a cool idea/experience. Our waiter, Seth (I believe that was his name) was attentive, he was very apologetic about the food taking longer than usual since it was pretty busy. They have their own parking which was convenient and free. I would come back again if in the area. read more

We were really excited starting out because it's a really cool vibe inside and our appetizers were delicious. Things started to go downhill because of how long it took our drinks from the bar to come, and it wasn't busy at all. Our entrees were not to our liking. Some things were bland and some things just tasted off. Food also took forever to come out and we had a hard time getting things we needed for the table (salt/pepper, the check, etc.). read more

We just left Cardinal. What a fantastic place. We loved the vibe! Brian at the bar made a perfect dirty martini. He answered questions and shared so much about the beers on tap and the cocktail menu. We were there for happy hour and had buck a shuck oysters and a delightful charcuterie board with great toasts and the most amazing Gorgonzola. We will be back! It was raining when we were there but we would love to come back during nice weather. The outdoor spaces look so inviting. Highly recommend! read more

Simply put - horrible service and rude employees. Sat at my table for 25 minutes before even getting water. Had to go and ask for a server twice and ended up leaving the restaurant after a less than desirable interaction with a completely rude employee. Don't waste your time here. read more

I'd love to give this place higher reviews because the staff was really friendly and they appear to really care about your comfort and experience. That being said the "special" was an over-fried piece of snapper that was inedible and dry with a crabcake over risotto. The oil taste in the snapper was overwhelming. Why fry this piece of delicate fish?! The appetizers are really small and overpriced as well. I left feeling hungry for a bill that should have left me feeling satisfied. If you are going to charge $$$ for food then provide $$$ in food quantity. Sorry, but changing my silverware on every course doesn't make my experience. Feeling like I enjoyed my meal and got the value I paid for does. I WILL NOT be back. read more

Ate here last night for the first time since they moved from Ventnor . What a treat . The decor is awesome and wait staff are very friendly . The food is so good . Yum yum yum ! We shared the oysters on the half shell and the spicy crispy tuna ! I had halibut in coconut curry sauce . Everything was so good ! No complaints from us ! There is outdoor seating for warmer weather and fire pits to relax outside too ! Also they have their own parking which a plus in AC . We will definitely be bad . read more

This place was such a respite after a day of lackluster casino food. The drinks were beautifully presented and delicious. Service was prompt, helpful, and unobtrusive. Oysters were fresh and accompanied by a house-made cocktail sauce and, my favorite, a mignonette. The duck wings are 100% worth a try -- a creative and contemporary riff on Peking duck. Ordered the gnocchi and halibut at our server's recommendation; the gnocchi with crab meat was exceptional. The star of the halibut, however, were its accompaniments (fried broccoli, a pea(?) purée) on the side. The restaurant itself - clean, modern, spacious - is housed in an old warehouse building, surrounded by containers and plenty of outdoor space. It must be a blast in the warmer months. 10/10 recommend! read more

I was very fortunate recently to join an intimate group of people for the truly memorable Marchesi do Barolo wine and food dinner at Cardinal. I am a former restaurant owner and a wine connoisseur. I have traveled the world and know when I am in the presence of a magical experience. This was a class act from start to finish. Wine and food both spectacular and beautifully and thoughtfully paired. I don't live nearby, but I am excited to return to the restaurant and tell my friends about it. Came to this spot with 4 other friends, I wish we had a good experience but we did not. We ordered the wings and brussel sprouts and they were amazing. Our entrees were not. The short ribs were bland, no flavor. Two of us ordered the cardinal burger, one well done and the other medium, both came out very undercooked. The medium came out raw. Sent the one back and it came out raw again but he server didn't even come back to see if it was cooked appropriately. And to make things worse, someone from our group had to go hunt her down for the bill. The place wasn't busy so I'm not sure why the food wasn't done correctly or why we weren't checked up on after the new burger was brought out. We paid the bill and left. There was no offer to comp the raw burger or anything which is fine but I emailed the owner and let him know what had happened and a week later still has not even followed up with an apology. There is lots of good places to eat in AC, unfortunately I will not recommend this place to anyone read more

I'm mystified by the reviews-- did we just go on an off night? I wanted very much to love this place, since I am local. But there were shells in my raw oysters, the accompanying mignonette was warm and greasy, and the sauce on my gnocchi was so salty, it was almost inedible. The dipping sauce that came with my husband's Korean chicken wings was so vinegary that he choked, eating it (literally). The servers were lovely and the wine was good! But the food genuinely did not taste good. read more

Cardinal is a little gem in the middle of AC. We went for lunch over the holidays on a whim. They have true craft cocktails and the most refined food you'll find outside of the casinos. Everything was really delicious. If you want to rave about the salads you know the place is great. The brussel sprout salad and the cesear salad were out of this world good. Everything was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The place is welcoming and the decor has a vibe. Our server Meredith was so friendly and knowledgable. We enjoyed family time over dinner during our first time at this establishment. While some of the dishes, like the NY stake, were nicely done, can't write the same about the skirt stake which was on the dry side; and the polenta had a few more lumps than desired. The cocktails were a delight, but the bean soup was either hot or cold, depending on which side of the bowl we tasted. Lastly, the crabcake starter had more breadcrumbs than crab- not sure it would be worth another try given the fact that more than 2/3 of our meal left a lot to be desired. read more

10/10 would not recommend to anyone. Had a reservation at 6:45 and was seated at 6:50 but did not see a waiter until or the menus until 7:20. Throughout the night I noticed the waiter would go to his other tables 3-4 times before checking in on mine. We had the pre fix menu which was 4 courses and the appetizers and entrees were really bland, but the desserts and sorbet were actually pretty good. Was disappointed at how long they took to bring out the next course each time, we were at the restaurant till 9:45. Overall the place was a waste of money I would've rather gambled my money away. read more

If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars, I would. This is the best meal I've had on the island! The service was impeccable! My husband has some food allergies & our server checked all ingredients with the chef who made slight modifications to his meal. I had the croquette as an appetizer, which had so many complimentary flavors...delish! My husband had a sizable spring mix salad with avocado, tomatoes, onions & egg that he really enjoyed. We both had the halibut as our entree(his was modified). It was cooked to perfection & was the tastiest fish dish we've had! For dessert we shared the blueberry pie a la mode. You could tell it was homemade & was a perfect ending to our meal. We can't wait to come back! read more
