I had a 90 minute facial with Sheila. It was so relaxing and my skin looked amazing and felt great. I can't wait to go back!

The atmosphere was calm, beautiful, and really pleasant -- it's clear a lot of care goes into the space, and I understand the salon is under new management. Karri took the time to talk with me in detail about the change I wanted to make, what it would involve both now and in the future, and she clearly explained pricing beforehand, which I really appreciated. I felt fully informed and comfortable the entire time. She also gave me a wonderful haircut even though I hadn't originally scheduled that service, and the lowlights are beautiful -- natural, dimensional, and exactly what I was hoping for. I've been to many stylists at Tulip over the years and have never been disappointed, and this experience was no exception. From greeting, to consultation, to scheduling my next appointment, everything was thoughtful, professional, and kind. I left feeling confident, heard, and very happy with my hair. I highly recommend Karri and Tulip Salon

I've seen Kristy at The Silk Mill Retreat since 2017. I have been fortunate enough to experience…read morebarefoot massage, warm bamboo therapy, lomi lomi, the Royal, wholistic facials with Gua sha, and some others crafted rituals that aren't on the menu any longer... she always brings her best to the table. She is the high priestess of ritual in our modern world. I feel extremely fortunate to experience her magic. I recently had the privilege to experience her newest ritual Plant Spirit. Let me start off by saying the genius decision to brush my whole body with luxurious oil using a paintbrush for the massage made me feel like a goddess. The sound bowls on my chakras was healing to the soul. The Laurel (one of my most favorite products Kristy stocks) whole plant facial combined lymphatic brushing that was so divine (a new experience for me that I loved) and gua sha. Ending with a "crown" massage and what felt like a baby shirodhara treatment (if you don't know that is when warm oil is slowly poured over your scalp and it is everything). She then used herbal infused warm compresses all over my body to both lock in the moisture from the oil and remove any excess. The ritual was a plant based dream.

I discovered The Silk Mill Retreat about 2 years ago in search of tangible therapy. By tangible…read moretherapy I mean somewhere that I can go, not verbally work through things but focus on the pressures and trauma your body endures working through life and all of its trials and tribulations. I cannot say enough great things about the massages and rituals this place has to offer. Recently, Kristy the owner, began implementing "plants, stars, and bodywork" which is offered in various combinations and levels to work deeper into spiritual development. I started with the "it was written in the stars" which deep dives into your personalized natal chart and walks you through each progression step by step. First a foot soak on a cozy couch in a welcoming environment, a cleansing spray of choice, a warm neck wrap, an offering of beverage.... what more can you ask for? I received a beautiful print out of her expertise and have some serious homework to do on my part with the application of all of her recommendations. Where your houses align with your astrological "big three" can be implemented into the bodywork you are already doing there if you choose to, and she's offering herbal rituals to continue the work at home. I asked so many questions, Kristy who is highly trained answered them all which opened up a deeper conversation about what to do with this knowledge. If you're ever thinking of where you are in the cosmos, where you are in life, where you're going, or just want to know more about yourself and the potential "why" behind it all, I highly recommend visiting her website and starting anywhere! This can be the beginning of your experience at The Silk Mill Retreat, or even all you do there as well, but I highly recommend getting on her waiting list for bodywork to make this a complete experience. This is something I also plan to gift to friends, she offers this online which I think is an amazing benefit as anyone can do it. This is the spiritual therapy I need!

I usually purchase one of their summer three-packs when I'm in town because it's such a relaxing part of my trips now. The spa is in such a perfect location -- within walking distance to the beach and the restuarants  -- which makes the whole experience feel like a true coastal getaway. After spending time near the water, going in for a massage or spa treatment is the perfect way for me to unwind. The atmosphere inside is peaceful, beautiful, and calming the moment you walk through the door. Everyone there is always welcoming and professional, and the spa itself has really become such a special place in Colonial Beach. You can tell they truly care about their clients and the experience they provide. I always leave feeling refreshed, relaxed, and already looking forward to my next visit.

At 2:15pm, therapist called to tell us that she was running behind, and asked if we could be there at 3pm. Well, maybe if you would have called at 2pm, before I left my house , and was just about to arrive in your parking lot. I'll just wait. 3pm rolls around, still not ready. We finally get back to start salt therapy at 3:39pm! At 3:59pm, just 20 minutes later, she tells us that it's time for our massage. She gives us 10 minutes to get on the tables, which was entirely too long, considering we were already nude during the salt therapy. At 10 after 4pm, our couples Swedish massage finally begins. During the massage, the therapist initiates conversation numerous times (which I hate), but she was nice, so I had trouble cutting her off. Next thing you know, we're in full conversation, which entails her telling us a lot of personal information, like how her ex-husband died of Lou Gehrig's Disease, her boyfriend is Native American, has cirrhosis of the liver and is a pain in her """. She kept stopping the touch, in which I gathered that she was using her hands to tell her stories, instead of focusing on her techniques. Her co-worker, who we gathered was her niece, was telling us that her baby died of SIDS...yeah, just the conversation that you want during a relaxing, Valentines Day couples massage. When the massage, aka as rubbing oil on us (because absolutely NO techniques were used), was done at exactly 4:50pm, in which she abruptly stopped, I wasn't even terribly upset that we paid for 30 minutes of salt therapy and a 1 hour massage, but received instead, a 1 hour wait, 20 minutes of salt therapy and 40 minutes of massage. I watched the time intently, because I had a feeling that we'd be shortchanged, just as we were. A typical Swedish massage should allow just 5 minutes to dress, and 5 minutes to undress...making it a 50 minute massage. The salt therapy should have been a full 30 minutes. Yeah, NEVER again. My husband was extremely disappointed, and I continuously told him that this is NOT the norm. I'm a skilled, educated, (and former) Licensed Massage Therapist. I KNOW good massage. It's difficult when you clearly know what they should/shouldn't be doing. Sorry, but I cannot recommend this business, which is extremely unprofessional from start to finish. Even with a Groupon, it was a complete waste of time and money.
