Bait and switch. Saw a Tiguan listed for $15,314 (see attached picture) - contacted Cardinaleway through TrueCar and got a price certificate that guarantees this price. Then I negotiated with Joanne over emails where I offered $14,850 and her word by word response was "Thank you for your offer. I'm here to make a deal with you, I encourage you to come take a look at the Tiguan first and make sure that you like it. If you do like it, I can assure you I won't let price get in the way of taking the car home." I think ok cool, I take my pre-approved check and drive 1.5 hours in horrible traffic ready to buy, get there and while I'm test driving the car the manager goes online and raises the price to $15,994 and on top of that after the drive I was told there will be an additional $1,000 for added options so now it's $1,680 above advertised price. After the usual games of car dealerships back and forth etc. Moe comes in and tells me the price went up and after negotiating made it seem as if he is doing me a favor by honoring the advertised price of $15,314 which is still showing across all aggregate website like cargurus, cars, autotrader, etc. Price is higher only on their own page, maybe they have a way to block the other sites from updating or else it will show it went up and display as a bad deal. It seems they are confusing a VW Tiguan with a classic Ferrari that appreciates in price as time goes by, I guess I missed out on "investing" in this car, maybe in 2 years it will be worth $30,000 or even more by their logic, who knows. Then he shows me comparable cars being sold at different dealerships that are higher priced as if that is relevant, but again because he thinks he is doing me a favor by selling at the advertised price. I am at Cardinaleway at that moment because of a price that your dealer advertised I don't care what other dealerships are selling their cars for, if I did I would be buying from them. And now to the added $1,000 which most 1-star reviews over here mention, it is basically a rip off. There is no mention of this added cost anywhere on their website, or in my communication with the sales person, if it is forced on every car why not have a disclaimer on all pages and in all sales communication? $1,000 for 3 items, 1) Nitro fill tires - buy 4 tires anywhere and take them to Costco, they will install them for you and Nitro fill all 4 for $15/tire, $60 total and we are talking about installation here, where labor and time is involved - then 2) you have some 3M plastic applied around the edges of doors which makes this particular car look worse due to it peeling in certain places and 3) an etching sticker for theft which I have no clue why anyone would want that. So 3 added items that cost the dealer less than $50 are sold for $1,000 and being forced on buyers, no way to decline them, no way to not have them installed. GM Scott Jackson I know you will copy and paste your response of being concerned and all that but I would advise instead of wasting time on scrubbing the dealership image online, actually take action and do something about those tactics that are being deployed at your dealership but I guess losing some buyers is not as big of a deal when profits from bogus add-ons and shady price changes are as substantial. If you think a franchise respectable name dealerships would not engage in shady tactics same as a no name dealership, with this Cardinaleway VW I urge you to think again. read more

This Review is regarding the Service Department: I decided to give this dealership a chance since I just moved to Corona and this dealership is just down the street from my home but they failed horribly. I really regret coming here. My car was stuck here and couldn't drive it out. Towed my car here to have a part replaced under warranty and ended up paying $1,400. They said there was an oil leak that voided the warranty which I never had from my previous service at a different dealership 4 months ago. I requested pictures for proof and they didn't look right at all. (Red Flag)The labor cost more than the parts which was ridiculous for something not complicated to do. I used to work in the auto industry. Horrible experience. The service manager (Salvador Barajas). Unprofessional his way or the highway attitude. Bad communication. Won't work with you. Not friendly. Don't waste your valuable time coming here. Make sure you inspect your car if you do decide to come here. Be ready to pay a lot for labor and parts. I submitted a complaint against the service manager at this dealership. I recommend to take your car to Commonwealth Volkswagon in Santa Ana (7ask for Eric or Rigo in the service department. I always buy my OEM parts on EBay and this guys just charge me for labor to install them. This guys are professionals and really listen and are very honest. Excellent service. I regret not coming here in the first place. My second recommendation is VW Plus Care in Huntington Beach ask for Matt. He owns this business and he's a master certified tech for Volkswagon and Audi. This guy is phenomenal and professional. Excellent service. His labor price is half of what a dealership charges. Last, I recommend buying your OEM parts on EBay. Just get the part number from the dealership to find the part. I've been doing this for years and saved so much money. Parts sold at dealerships are overpriced. You're just throwing money away. I hope I don't come back if any issues arise from the repairs they've done to my car. They will be liable. UPDATE: I try contacting the General Manager Scott Jackson multiple times by email and left him 2 voice messages. He reach out to me telling me to contact him and I do but no follow up from his part no even once. This dealership is garbage. Horrible customer service from this dealership. Please Please DO NOT buy from this dealership. They will not fix anything under warranty. I bought a new beetle final edition SEL in December and have had nothing but problems. I've brought the beetle back numerous times for Navigation that is not working correctly. First of all they gave me Iraq and Afghanistan Navigation and wanted me to buy the United States Navigation card. I fought tooth and nail to just get the US Streets on my navigation. Then I brought the car back because it wasn't showing traffic that is suppose to be one of the features when you pay Sirius xm. They told me the car doesn't come with that feature. Um I paid for the SEL which ALL Specs and news releases state that the Final Edition SEL comes with Traffic. Joyce (some high up female) told the GM to sit down and shut up when I showed him evidence that my navigation is all messed up, and that SHE HAS THIS. Then proceeds to tell me that "if I cut the wires to the radio it voids the warranty". Excuse me? The car is under warranty Lady!!!! I received absolutely no help from this dealership, so I called VW Cares. Peter the GM for VW Cares informs me that I asked CardinaleWay to replace my radio at sales to a lesser version and that they are going on the Window sticker and the sticker does not show traffic. NO AMENDMENTS were made during the sale of the car. Well, I did investigating and test drove another Final Edition SEL and low and behold it has TRAFFIC and the SAME WINDOW STICKER as mine. VW Cares told me that I need to take the car back to the dealer where I bought it and work it out with them. Well I took it back to the dealer again and again and they will not fix my Navigation! I have warranty on my radio! It isn't working! That means you as a dealer are obligated to fix the problem not switch out my navigation to a lesser version. The last time my car was in to fix the Navigation ALL ICONS have disappeared such as TRAFFIC, WEATHER, the speed limit, Etc. My navigation actually got worse and they will not fix it! So is this what Peter at VW Cares was talking about? Why is my navigation worse? Did they switch the radio? What is wrong with these people? This Dealership lacks integrity! I will ABSOLUTELY never buy from ANY CardinaleWay Dealerships ever again. I learned my lesson. I am fearful they will do something to my car if I bring it back. read more

I would not even give the one star if I had the option LOUSY LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! IRRESPONSIBLE!!!! CARELESS!!!! RUDE GENERAL MANAGER!!!! I'm not a new customer to Cardinale Way Volkswagen, Corona dealership. I have leased a 2014 Volkswagen Passat TDI (Diesel) car from them in 2014. Because of 2014 Volkswagen Passat TDI car's Emissions issue, in March 2016 they offered me a LEASE TURN IN....a new 2016 Volkswagen Passat Gas Car. On March 19th, 2016, I made the car exchange. I was given the new car lease agreement. When I received a DMV notice on Dec 18th, 2016 about car registration and insurance paperwork, ONE FACT BECAME CLEAR...THAT SINCE MARCH 2016....9 MONTHS AFTER THE CAR EXCHANGE... CARDINALE WAY VOLKSWAGEN, CORONA DEALERSHIP STILL DID NOT SUBMIT TO DMV MY RELEASE OF LIABILITY FOR THE 2014 OLD LEASED CAR.... the DMV records still show that the car is registered in my name.... BASICALLY WHATEVER LIABILITY ARISES FROM ITS USE NOW IS STILL MY RESPONSIBILITY...... I have been calling and requesting the dealership for month and a half now to submit the release paperwork to DMV but of no use. Even though it IS Cardinale Way Volkswagen, Corona Dealership's responsibility, they are still not doing anything. After couple of weeks(of me calling them),they informed me they cannot do anything and I have to go and talk to Volkswagen. WHY SHOULD I GO TO VOLKSWAGEN WHEN MY TRANSACTION WAS DIRECTLY WITH THE DEALERSHIP??... So with no other option, I did contact Volkswagen directly. The Volkswagen informed me that as they did not receive all the needed paperwork from the dealer, they cannot help me with the release. When I contacted the dealership AGAIN after I talked to Volkswagen, the general manager hung up (slammed the phone down) on me...several times...this is the kind of customer service I received from the start of the issue....THE DEALERSHIP OR THE VOLKSWAGEN DO NOT WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. THEY CAN RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AMONG THEMSELVES DIRECTLY IN A MATTER OF FEW MINUTES.....IT LOOKS LIKE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER ONCE THE CAR LEASE TRANSACTION IS COMPLETE... Here we are in the middle of the worst economy in fifty years. I think it's safe to assume that most car dealers would do just about anything to make a sale, right? Apparently not Cardinale Way VW! I went there looking for a new VW CC and spoke with a very nice salesman named Lavel (I think that's how it is spelled). Lavel knew all about the CC and answered all of my questions perfectly. Anyway, I couldn't buy that day because I had to be somewhere but I promised him that when I came back I would ask for him. Fast forward a couple of days and I went back in and asked for Lavel. It was his day off so I asked to speak with a sales manager (only because I wanted Lavel to get credit for the deal since he was so great). Out came Joe Owens, the General Manager (aka the guy that oversees the entire store) and all I can say is that this guys was possible the single biggest a-hole I have ever met. First of all, he's a FAT SLOB - definitely not the type of person you want to be the face of your business. He was an arrogant know-it-all and how he rose to be a GM is anyone's guess. When I had a question about financing, he wouldn't/couldn't answer and acted like I was putting him out for being a customer. He was also texting someone while I was trying to talk to him (how rude is that) and when I finally said screw it and left he didn't even offer to get someone else to help me. I ended up going to Commonwealth VW in Santa Ana (who were wonderful I might add). I told them my story and the guy just laughed and told me that they hear stories like that all the time. I looked at their website and apparently they are part of a larger dealer group. How the hell the corporate people tolerate a jackass like this is beyond me. The Corona Auto Mall is practically shut down. With dealers like this, it's no wonder why! I hope you all lose your jobs and you can blame Joe Owens for it!!!!!!!! read more

My partner LOUIS went there on good faith, 2 hour drive after speaking to a new salesperson (Enrique) who was taking direction from the sales manager (JOEY). My partner was told he could get a 2016 Ford Focus SE for $9,999 or 10K. This car has been a nightmare since he drove it home. I'm writing this because being on social security disability your funds are so limited and fixed everything you buy has to be saved for. By the time he left the price was $14,000.00 !!!! Apparently they added fees without fully explaining it. Fees like etching a number , maintenance which he didn't ask for & multiple add on charges. As it stands we found out the car was sold with the back tire installed backwards, the motor mount on right front is busted, the car was shaking & vibrating at 65 MPH. You'd think with everything this company touts and provides they would make it right. In addition there was a recall to the engine that compounded the motor mount issue and it simply was not safe to drive. They should have never sold this car without this important update. Every time my poor partner tried to call and just let the sales manager know what was happening they could care less like it is our faults. We are in our 60's and don't have time for this nonsense with having health issues. I hope the owner enjoys ripping disabled folks off and taking it to the bank. My only regret is I couldn't be there when he was negotiating but like I mentioned a lot was done prior to driving 2 hours only to be a sales victim of a car dealership. Thanks Mr. Cardinale. So I go into the Vw dealer to purchase a new Jetta for my daughter who is not there. That was mistake number one. My sales person was really cool. He showed me the differences between the s model and the se with convenience package. Explained the benefits of having bluetooth for my daughter and the safety features. That was cool. I chose the se with the bluetooth and sat down to negotiate price. That was mistake number two cause this punk kid named Joey, really, Joey? Sounded like I was dealing with a child when he introduced himself and insulted me with the offer they were thinking I deserved. I told him I knew what invoice was, I knew the incentives on the car and what my credit was like and what rate Vw had. After about an hour of the riff raff this kid was spilling my way I told him that I didnt think he wanted my business. I got up to leave and he scampered away. The salesman told me they kid had only been in the business for a few months and he apologized for him. Thats funny. And so understandable. This kid stumbled through everything I requested. Acted like he owned the place. I bought my car in 20 minutes at Ontario Vw. I went in, gave my offer, it was accepted and I was out of there within 90 minutes. Way to go Cardinaleway. Keep hiring these children to do the negotiating. And to my salesman, thanks dude, you did a heck of a job, would have givin you the business if Joey hadnt needed to get involved. read more

Horrible! I brought my car for the annual service. I made an appointment online for 12pm and online it said it will take them about 1 hour and 30 minutes. As soon as I got there the woman at the service department told me that all the technicians are on break between 12 and 1 so they would start working on my car at 1. I told here that there was absolutely no way I could wait an extra hour (2.5 hours in total) since I had my 6 month old son with me and that since nobody is available between 12 and 1 then why is it offered for online booking? She went to ask the technicians and one of them supposedly said that he would work on my car and then take his break so I agreed to wait. 2 hours later I am still here and they just told me that it will take them another 30 minutes! So I am now stranded at this be dealership with a 6 month old baby who played with all the toys I brought with me and is now fussy, waiting for them to be done with my car! I AM NEVER COMING BACK HERE!! Update: One of her colleagues confirmed that nobody started working on my car until 1pm which had I known I wouldn't have stayed. I told her in the beginning but she went on and lied so she would lose the sale. Well done!! #NOT Anyway, after 3 hours and 7 minutes to be exact my car was finally ready! Just thought I would take the time to say what a pleasure it was to purchase a 2005 Jetta from Les Slaybaugh. I have been a returning customer since 2011 when I leased our first Jetta from Chris Kelly as well as our 2nd Jetta in 2014. Each time CardinaleWay Volkswagen made it easier and more affordable to keep leasing with them. Back to purchasing our latest 2005 Jetta for my daughter. After a long day of looking for a used car " Her 1st car " we had not seen anything worth the money that we had to spend. I simply asked him if they might have any used cars or trade ins for sale to match my budget and Les replied I believe we do! We looked at 2 Jettas a 2009 and a 2005. He said they would need to go through inspection before he could talk doing a deal. By 3pm the next day I was pleased to find out he could offer me a deal I could not refuse. We signed the paperwork later that same night and my daughter was driving away in her new Used 2005 Jetta. I was referred to Cardinale Hyundai by a friend of mine. The last couple of years have been real trying and my credit looked like swiss cheese. The salesman and finance department were caring and considerate to my credit issues. I didn't expect much or to even be able to get financing. Adam, along with the finance manager shopped my car loan at several places. The rate they came back with was very high. I told them there was no way I would be able to afford the payments. The part that blew my mind, was that Adam actually told me to get some dinner and come back in a couple of hours, while he shopped around for a better deal. I guess I'm more of a credit criminal than I thought, is what I was thinking as I left. I had never been to a car dealership, that didn't try to put the screws to me. Sure enough, Adam called back after two and a half hours. I wen't back to the dealership and was financed with a payment I could afford. The car met my needs and budget. I had the most amazing car shopping experience at Cardinale Way VW. I came in with the intention of upgrading to a sporty car. Evan greeted me from the beginning and shared his expertise on different models. Later, sales manager, Victoria, stepped in and offered some options. She is very sweet and super personable. After a couple of test drives, I decided on the Jetta SE. Victoria emphasized the gas mileage and the low price within my budget. Her and Evan were super helpful. I was set on the white color, and she found one for me! She worked with me with financing options and beat expectations. They accepted my old car as a trade-in/down payment. Evan picked up the car as I was being treated to In N Out. He was also super attentive and even helped me transfer my stuff. Oh, and they also filled my gas tank! Overall, my experience was a very enjoyable one. They even followed up with me to ensure I knew how to use all the features. I'm giving Mr Kelly and Mr Contreras five stars for being great sales people who will go to the end of the earth to get me the car I need. Earlie this month I purchased my third vehicle here. I have a 2011 golf and a 2011 Jetta both bought from Mr Kelly and the General Manager Dan who worked there for a couple of years and then left and came back. If he were there in 2013 or 2014 I would have had 5 vehicles from this store but for some reason they keep changing managers which this time around the managers Dan and his other guy Paul assured me they are here to stay cause my daughter graduates college next year and her lease is coming to an end. Mr Kelly and Mr Contreras both know if I have to go thru the games with strange managers next time I won't be returning.
