Terrible service here. Highly recommend South Coast instead they're great customer service! We have been coming here for many years visiting on vacations to see my dad who has a home here for 20 years and never had an issue. My son was in this store and carried things for grandpa last summer with NO ISSUE. We travelled 3000 miles and arrived today and stopped in. We brought our kids in and the tasting guy was so nice! However the store manager (I'm assuming that's what he was as he was overdressed in a suit) followed my young daughters around eyeing them making them uncomfortable. At one point he told them to not touch anything and they told him they'd not touched anything! The man in the suit was also eyeing another customer across the store and after staring him down aggressively asked him what he needed as well. Then he approached me and I said no we've been many times but thank you nicely. I had our sons grab a couple heavy items and put them in my cart. We grabbed a couple other smaller things. I walked up and another man didn't even greet me as I began loading the cart. He abruptly said I need your ID! I finished unloading and he repeated himself and I said yes I heard you I will get it. They then demanded everyone's ID's. I said these are our children. Do they need to step outside or something? The manager became very hostile and rude. He said he would not sell to us because my son had one of the heavy cases in the cart and he did not have his ID with him. I told the manager I had triple arm surgery and my husband also cannot lift heavy things )he had carpel tunnel surgery recently) so we had asked him to pick it up for us. I said if that was an issue, do we need to leave and then come back or what to do? The manager refused to sell to us and I said at what point are we able to buy? Is this like an indefinite thing or something? He pretty much said not at all. A lot of our friends are law-enforcement at home in our state and I said well if I was to ask the police or if I were to contact the Massachusetts liquor commission, what would they tell me? Then he finally admitted I could come back the next day at that point which obviously we will not be doing. We went to South Coast and had no issue there at all or hassling. I do not usually leave poor reviews but this entire experience was embarrassing and I'd like to note it for future customers. I have a serving license at home and this was over the top and power trip feeling. For reference my husband and I are almost 50 it was very evident we were of age. read more

they have an amazing selection of products but the problem is they wouldn't serve me because my son didn't have his ID on him, not to mention my son is in his 30's and looks it. I was buying beer and wine (well I was trying to) and she absolutely would not sell it to me because my son couldn't show an ID. I have never encountered this anywhere else. my son carries things to the car for me because I have a medical issue. the funny thing is, he doesn't even drink. they have a very bizarre policy and that was the first and last time i've been there. I just go down the street where the laundromat is, much better service. the 2 stars are for the great selection they have, too bad I won't be buying any. read more

Recently moved into the area and was excited to check this place out. What a fool I was! People who work there treat you like crap. Not once did I feel welcome. I was getting a bottle of Saki to have with sushi I was picking up nextdoor and the guy behind the desk game me shit for having my 22yr old daughter with me but she didn't have an ID. The guy was a complete ass to me and my daughter. He explained to me that if she was under 21 he wouldn't have a problem but since she was over 21 it was an issue. Huh? Explain that to me please? So instead of getting a customer for life this moron ran me out of the place over a $10 bottle. Never will go back. If you can't run a business and treat your customers with some level of decency and understanding then you don't deserve to be in business. I hope this place goes under!! read more

In the middle of the COVID pandemic was asked to remove my mask at the checkout after he had taken my ID and scanned it. You can obviously tell It is me because I was wearing a small N95 mask. I expressed I didn't feel comfortable removing it because it's for my safety and they refused my service until I did take it off. Disappointing. read more

The female clerk is very rude! Every time I go into this store she is annoyed. If I ask her for anything she is bothered that I am interrupting her from standing around doing nothing! The owner witnessed this today and he did nothing. They do not appreciate their customers. I will go to Douglas Wine and Spirits down the street. Today was the last straw with this store. It's close to my house, right off the highway, and the selection is good which is why I continued going as long as I did. I've never had good experience here. The prices aren't great and the staff has ranged from indifferent to rude, but it's convenient and sometimes that's all that counts. No more. I'm done. This evening, my girlfriend went to pickup takeout from a nearby restaurant. As she was getting in her car she called Cardoza's to see if they were open. It was the tail end of another blizzard, so they could easily have been excused for not being open. The manager (who claimed to be the owner) said they would be open for 15 minutes. My girlfriend arrived less than 5 minutes later (we live that close). She arrived to find the lights on and the doors locked. She called and, in a nutshell, the manager reprimanded her for calling and repeated "we're closed!" He told her she can take her business elsewhere. We couldn't be happier to oblige. Dartmouth Wine and Spirits, Town Liquors, and Lizzie's liquor store are both nearby and are always perfectly accommodating. As I mentioned, I rarely had a good experience at Cardoza's and this is the final nail in the coffin. We will be frequenting the other stores in the area from now on. read more

This is the closest wine/beer store to my house. I recently went in there and got a 12 pack of some pumpkin beer. I bought the beer and as I stepped outside of the store, the handle broke and the case fell to the ground. I didn't want to drag broken glass into the store to make a mess so I just moved it out of the doorway, onto the sidewalk. I turned around to let them know I would need a trash bag or something and the first thing out of the manager's mouth was, "Because you were technically out of the store, I can't reimburse you for those." First off, I was not looking for reimbursement...and that comment alone and how immediate that response was, I will no longer go there. It was just infuriating. They may have saved 10 bucks by immediately letting me know they can't replace the broken beers, but they lost a long term customer. Keep up the good work guys!!! read more

Never had a good experience here. The last time I went in my license had expired so I brought my passport and they gave me a hard time. If I could rate zero stars, I would! I am underage, but went with my mother as she wanted to get some drinks for a party my family was throwing. Staff was extremely rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. They kept following us like we were "stealing" which was very insulting. The worst part came at checkout. The cashier and the owner demanded to see my ID although my mother was right next to me and SHE was the one purchasing. We had just came from dinner and my ID/wallet was at home, which wouldn't have made a difference since I'm underage. I was NOT purchasing. When trying to explain to them the situation, they said that I was "reading" labels. Really?? How pathetic is that. I was not buying, but they refused service to my mom for "reading" labels. I don't write reviews often at all, but how pathetic the owners and staff acted and treated us inspired me. They need to "read" state laws instead of making their own delusional rules. A minor is able to be with an adult who is purchasing in a liquor store in Massachusetts. They do NOT need to be carded. To those who know me, they know that it takes a lot to piss me off as I am very easy going. This is hands down the worst customer service experience I've had in my entire life. I just left their first wine tasting and the best thing I can say about it was that it was free. The general organization was poor and lacking. You checked in which was useless because they didn't do anything after that I think this was just a way to get your information. There was only 5 tables packed into a tiny area people were constantly bumping into me. There was very little diversity in the wine and the people serving kept suggesting wine that was not available for tasting. However as a liquor store aside from the tasting the store was bright, clean, well stocked, well organized and offered great diversity. read more

I was very impressed with the huge selection of craft beers and international beers at Cardoza's. My friend and I found the store by accident on a day trip to the Cape. We were looking for a specific beer (Singha) and were happily surprised to find it in stock. The prices were good, and we were tempted by several other beers but had already purchased something at another store along the way so we were good and only got what we had been looking for. I found the store very roomy, and they had a ton of different and hard to find brands (especially the rums). I'd go back there again if I happened to be in the area. read more

Great store! Cardoza's is a very warm and inviting place. They have a large selection of wines and beers. The staff is very friendly and the manager is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They were able to answer all of my questions and even gave me suggestions of what to try and what is on sale. Also, their prices are the cheapest compared to other liquor stores around. I'm a regular customer at this location and have been for a couple years. I live locally and work locally. They know my face and some of the workers even know me by name. I spend a lot of money there and I'm a familiar face to them. Well, two days ago I received my drivers license and I was given a temporary form of ID to use while my real copy comes in the mail. I also have my state issued Mass ID card. They told me that they could not serve me and it was not a valid form of ID. I know liquor stores need to ID by state law, but I'm a regular and I HAD two forms of identification. She refused to serve me even though she knows I'm of age and has seen me countless times. So, I went down the street to a different store that served me instead. I'm just very disappointed that I was treated like a stranger and denied purchase when I had identification on me and I'm a regular customer that they know. They can say it's a "rule" but it's funny how other places will accept my temporary license and my mass ID card. I'm not pleased. read more
