Recently I had to use their services for a loved one. They were so compassionate, down to earth and helpful. There was no pressure, no contacting us for payment when the insurance was received later then expected. They were just so easy to work with and made the process a little more bearable. They were everything they should be. I highly recommend them. We used the Romeoville location.

With that said, the hair and makeup on my grandma were horrible. I did not know that she didn't want to use this funeral home until after her services. Apparently she had told my family that they don't make the bodies look good, and she was right! There was an inch gap between her makeup and hairline where pale skin showed. It could be seen from the back of the room, that white outline that almost glowed. When closer, I could see where the makeup completely missed part of her nose, her hands were blotchy, face streaked. It looked like an airbrush was used improperly, it was even in her eyebrows and eyelashes. We could even see where her neck had been stitched up from embalming her. I would think that the outfit she were to wear would be considered when deciding where to perform the embalming. I'm not familiar enough with the process to know, so this may have been unavoidable. I've been to many funerals and wakes, I do not expect the body to look like the person it once was. I do expect better than this though.

Yelp REALLY should have a different comment associated with a five-star rating for any businesses…read moresuch as this. There was most definitely NO "WooHoo-ing" going on here as making funeral arrangements and/or attending funerals and wakes is never an "exciting" adventure. Of course, when you are grieving the loss of a close loved one, it's difficult to think straight and stay focused on what needs to be done. Kelly M. at O'Neil is an absolute ANGEL (She even kinda looks like one!) She sweetly and sympathetically walked my family and I through each step, covering every single thing that needed to be done and helped to clarify decisions that were difficult, which I'm sure IS her job, but she truly excels at it! I believe she went above and beyond to get my family and I through it all as quickly and as painlessly as possible. Actually, every single employee that I encountered at O'Neil showed the utmost professionalism in the nicest, most sincere possible way! The facility itself is absolutely gorgeous! I've been told that it was recently remodeled (prior to my use of it in summer 2012) so I do not know what it looked like previously, but I can tell you it is most definitely a comfortable and warmly welcoming, yet classy place. Last month another family member passed away and the family IMMEDIATELY went to O'Neil for the arrangements, even though they used other facilities regularly in the past, everyone was so extremely impressed with O'Neil while attending my Husband's wake and funeral that it will be the only facility our families will ever use from now on.

I had visited the location a couple days before my mom passed and they were very respectful and took down all of our information so that after my mom passed they were able to just come in take her body to the home. They also were able to get all of our official documentation information filled out at that moment as well. We had the basic cremation package which allowed us a 30 minute viewing. The space was clean and allowed us some private time with my mom before she was cremated. Receiving her remains and death certificate was also very efficient. We received both a couple business days after the viewing. Thank you for making a difficult life event pain free and simple. That was very important for us as we grieved.

She hated my MD Dad and her children So when my my Dr. MD Dad suddenly dropped dead in in 2014 - my local Illinois Cremation Center was there primarily there for my husband to follow a traditional Hindu cremation (imagine a simplified ved version of happy comedic Dr. Kuttners (if you ever watched House, perhaps the last amazing TV show sans Cable);self-inflicted gunshot suicide When Dad dropped dead, he had handwritten instructions on what to do with his ashes Well Uma still keeps HIM in his now-bedroom in his closet with the door to the room permanently closed Via my husband, while I was still "comatose" and eliminated on my my bed on three layers of "puppy training pads" ICC offered my husband to pray to witness all of it, although his best offer was to purchase a simple wooden wood box and an "expensive but cheap" bamboo container They in addition to cremation - trust ME THIS SINGULAR TIME PLEASE - Order #1M Death Certificates with ease (needed for cancelation of every single thing in his name (home, utilities, credit cards, phone accounts (lol the landline) cell, etc etc etc.. The funeral home is clean, bright, updated, and very welcoming. Jim was amazing at going through our options for my Dad and made our selection process easy and very accommodating to the little changes we made here and there. Everything was organized in a folder for us and he made sure we didn't have any questions and if we did he responded almost immediately and made himself very accessible. Mike was there the day of the wake and he was amazing and very compassionate. Everything went perfectly and we joked about how my dad actually looked better at his showing than his final days with us (but he really did). The funeral and church proceedings went smoothly and like I said, professional, timely, and so very organized. They had the option to play my Apple playlist I made over the stereo system there, we made a slideshow that played during the service that they provide the link to upload and use so easily, and also had many easels for our numerous photo boards. When looking for a place for your loved one, I wouldn't go anywhere else! They went above and beyond to make sure my Dad was celebrated how we wished and we felt that! Thank you Jim & Mike for going the extra mile. We would recommend them to anyone without a doubt.
