I was due to play my cello fifteen feet up in the air in the coming days as part of my one-woman show that had a run time on one hour. My family encouraged me to go into urgent care. I simply picked this one because it allowed my to make an appointment instantly with little wait time. When I arrived, I had no wait time and was kindly ushered into a room. The nurse entered and took my vitals in less than five minutes of entering the room and was super kind. Soon after Aisling Ryan - Abbott stepped in and very quickly assessed the situation. She listened and was sympathetic to my situation and immediately gave me a plan of action after having me tested for COVID, RSV, and Influenza. My results showed I had Influenza A. Not just a cold. The relief of knowing what was going on, along with an action plan was a huge weight off my shoulders. Soon after starting treatment I found myself feeling immensely better and feeling confident about my airbourne performance. Every moment of my visit from desk to doc was perfect. I came in and sat waiting (the automated check-in screen wasn't on when I arrived) for over 10 minutes in full view of this woman with no acknowledgment. I just shrugged it off, even though I was the only one in the waiting room. She finally comes up and turns on the automated check-in. I do that and ask why the next appointment isn't until 30 minutes from now, given that I've been the only one in the waiting room and we could have completed the blood draw in the time I spent waiting to be acknowledged. She says there's another appointment at 2pm - okay, fair enough. However, she then starts sassing me saying that I should have made an appointment - I brought up that the email I received said that no appointment was needed. She snaps: "well, who sent that email because that's not correct". I said: "How would I know that when I don't work here? I can pull up the email if you like" and she goes "I'm not trying to argue with you". Really? You could have fooled me. I have never had this type of verbal altercation at a lab (or anywhere else for that matter) in my life. This location is convenient but I will never come back, given that this is how they treat patients. The rating would be zero stars if Yelp allowed it.

And let me tell you--MRIs and ultrasounds are not all created equal. The difference between a well-trained technician and a "winging it" one can be the difference between clarity and chaos in radiology. That said, the Boulder HealthImages team deserves a standing ovation (or at least a polite golf clap in the waiting room). They've mastered the art of making patients feel comfortable, welcomed, and even a little less like human science experiments. Their proactive communication, operational efficiency and imaging expertise set them apart from the rest. Check-in paperwork? Online. Easy. Done. (Pro tip: if you're allergic to online forms, don't take it out on the staff) Once you've completed the initial intake, future appointments are a breeze. Wait times? Practically nonexistent. I've walked in for x-rays twice and been whisked back almost immediately. MRI and ultrasound appointments? Not only punctual, but often started earlier than scheduled. You can request a disc with your images, if taking it to a doctor that does not have HealthImages portal access. Prefer digital? The patient portal has you covered. One caution: the technical imaging here is top notch, but I personally rely on my specialist to read and interpret the images. I don't depend on the radiologist's determination alone, and I recommend others do the same.
