4/5 recommend for good tea and chic ambiance. It felt like a trendy location for locals, tourists, and anyone willing to spend a few bucks. Let me be clear - I really wanted to dislike this place because things were a bit hectic when we sat down and we were crowded and rushed to order a few times. What the staff lacked in warmth for two American tourists they made up for in efficiency and responsiveness. Their individual food prices are a little astronomical for my taste, but their meal offerings are a much better value. The hot chocolate was great but RICH. Very much like a chocolatey syrup. Earl grey tea on the other hand was probably the best I've ever had. With any drink order they bring a small chocolate brownie/cookie that's so dry it makes you want to drink your boiling cup of tea. Of all the things we ate I'd most wholeheartedly recommend the ham and cheese snack sandwich. It's not expensive and the baguette was perfect. If you are fine telling the staff to relax so you can read the multi-page multi-language menu, it's a good spot to grab tea and a snack. Found this early in the morning before all the rush of Parisians. Although a bit pricey, the food and service were wonderful. The scrambled Eggs were so much better than what I've had in the USA and the pastries and coffee were delicious as well. As we ate this place started to fill up. We came when they opened to buy some croissants go to. The place was nearly empty. We asked the wait staff if we could do take away. She said yes and told us we just needed to order from the counter. We went to the counter, the staff there just talked on her phone for 3-4 mins ignoring us while we waited. We eventually got tired of waiting for her every so important phone call vs serving a customer. Anyways. this kinda "subtle" poor treatment of foreign customers was more common in the last couple decades up until last 5-10 years when Paris became more "tourist" friendly. We were surprised as we received pretty good service this trip compared to our previous trips in the 2000s. This is my favorite lunch spot in Paris near the holy grail Eiffel​ Tower! Surprisingly, this wasn't recommended​ by any of my friends but found this by​ just passing this restaurant because of how special the outside looks like. It was like finding a diamond on the floor! Preferred Paris brunch/lunch spot. The desserts and pastries are legendary, as are the teas. I especially love le petit déjeuner here: it comes with everything and it's very filling. We really wished we weren't so tired as we would have loved to sit down and eat after all. We also wish though that the seating areas weren't so tightly crowded, and this specifically is what loses the last star. The staff were very helpful and friendly. While sauntering around Paris, my lady and I decided to check this place out for desert. They sat us in the elegant seating area and our service was a true professional: polite; knowledgeable; and fast. (I will say it's pricey - a double espresso was around $10.00 -- but the service and ambiance are worth that and more). We ordered some pastries and espressos which were fantastic. Located in one of the hub's of Paris that is the Trocadero, Carette has been in business for years. My family has been sipping coffee on it's terrace for generations and they are particularly known for an oldschool patisserie known as the Mt. Blanc which you can't easily find anywhere anymore. You might ask what a Mt. Blanc is and it's a chestnut-based patisserie which features meringue at the core. Its a very traditional pastry and used to be present everywhere but disappeared over years. Few places now manage to keep that tradition alive and Carette is one of the few. Another would be Angelina's located on Rue de Rivoli. That pastry aside, their macarons are delicious along with just about anything else you can get there. Carette is famous for having a pretty fancy, elegant clientele and good manners are recommended otherwise you'll stand out like a Red Sox fans in the bleachers of Yankee stadium. The prices are high there but that's because it's located in Paris's nicest arrondissement. That aside, the service there is remarquable and makes it well worth it. It's very traditional and even if you just get coffee, your table will quickly be covered with various utensils, pots and cups. One for cream, one for milk, and don't forget the sugar and the sugar spoon that comes with it. A nice change from Starbucks; this is the way coffee should be served. Seriously. Chances are you will be in the area while visiting Paris, especially since it's across the river from the Eiffel Tower (pretty much) so do yourself a favor and swing by this place for some coffee and a pastry; you can thank me later. read more

I ordered the club and it was surprisingly very large. I was able to eat half, and take the rest, which I pulled out later after a long walk. Very busy at 6 on a Thursday, but the pastries are just amazing. The millefeulle was creamy, flaky, and full of vanilla seeds (yum). Jambon beurre was much more affordable than the rest of the menu at €7.5 and it was a large sandwich, probably 3/4 of a full sized baguette. Carette is easily one of my favorite cafes in Paris. I stumbled in here on happenstance during my first trip to Paris the morning I got there and was blown away. I had no idea I was having breakfast at probably one of the best spots in Paris! The location is terrific in the Trocadéro, with a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. I've stopped at café carette for just a coffee and while I was seated inside right next to the pastry counter, I understood plans would have to be changed. The selection is so various and everything seems better than the previous one. It's really a cute little place. Very quaint and fancy at the same time. However, it is very packed and the customers coming in for take-out makes things even more crowdy. I tried to be raisonnable and ordered a trio of three mini pastries with my espresso. Nothing was mini there. Three delicious full sized viennoiseries. My friend ordered a Palmier and I'm not kidding, it was bigger than his head. Very crispy and delicious but humongous. And was mounded with real (of course) whipped cream. I got mine without, as mom's was plenty to share. You also get a nice but plain little cookie on the side. I thought mine would come with the whipped cream but it didnt. Probably one of the most pleasing place to take a break in Paris. The view is breathtaking, their hot chocolate is known all around the world, the decoration is elegant and the service is Excellent. It's surrounded by two other cafés but it's by far the best you can find at the Trocadero square when it comes to quality. This is the epitome of a French cafe. I swooned when I walked in and saw the beautiful floral tiled floors, the entire row of beautifully made macrons and pastries, and felt absolutely Parisian as I sat and ate a quiche Lorraine with the most splendid Black tea blend. This place gets BUSY, like every inch of the cafe becomes packed with patrons, which can make for a cramped environment when you first walk in, but everyone was very friendly and kind, and it didn't feel at all uncomfortable once we got settled. The food was SO. GOOD., I will be dreaming of this little French restaurant for ages. We got a few macrons to go, and it was really nice to take some of the cafe with us for another day. They had tons of really cute drinks, but I went for a hot house black tea blend with cream and sugar. It was one of the best pots of tea I've ever had, and it went really well with the tart they I got for desert. As a general rule when I travel, I don't often revisit the same restaurants twice in an effort to explore as many options as possible, but I would definitely come back here on my next trip to Paris. read more

Amazing coffee and tea place! Their dessert table is amazing. Their macarons are so good equivalent to Laduree maybe even better. I got the petit breakfast option that included my choice of hot drink(coffee, hot chocolate or tea), the hot chocolate was just divine, press orange juice, crustless toast, and croissant/chocolate pastry. The hot chocolate is what they're known for and especially if you're a chocolate lover like me. It was extremely rich and felt amazing in my mouth I almost died!
