The Hamon and Butter was a bit lighter on butter than some of the others we had at Versailles but the mozzarella was perfect and honestly makes me wish we had something remotely as tasty here in the states. Filling without being too filling, these were the perfect carb bombs to energize our day of walking around Paris. Worth a detour to stop in here.

I was a little wary whether this restaurant would live up to the hype and let me tell you it does! We got there an hour before they opened and were the first ones there. The line starts to form about 30 mins before opening. I got the Carette brunch, which came with the signature croissant and hot chocolate with cream, your choice of juice, toast with butter and jam of choice, and scrambled eggs of choice. The hot chocolate was definitely the star of the show! It's very rich but not too heavy and the whipped cream helped cut the sweetness. The croissant was good as well. I also enjoyed the strawberry jam as well as the orange juice. The mushroom eggs were good but nothing crazy in my opinion (I'm not a huge egg person so I may be biased). Finally we also got a side of French onion soup, which had a certain depth to it I never had in any other but was very delicious! I would recommend getting the carette brunch as it came with a variety of food and was reasonably priced. The service wasn't the best, our server ended up taking a 30min break after the place opened and never brought us our extra water, but the gentleman that helped up pay was very nice and efficient. I can't guarantee quality service, but the food lives up to the hype! I recommend getting there early to beat the crowds for a Parisian breakfast you will never forget !! read more

Stopped by Carette Café and it completely lived up to the hype! Their famous hot chocolate topped with a mountain of fresh whipped cream is a must-try -- rich, thick, and absolutely heavenly. It's easily one of the best hot chocolates I've ever had in Paris. I also ordered their Roasted Sea Bass, which was cooked to perfection -- tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Waited for about 20 minutes for a table, which didn't seem long as what it usually is. Hot chocolate was very good, but the service was poor. It is way too busy to have good service. There was little attention paid to detail. Ordered a coffee as well, which came out cold, when asked if it could be refunded, we were denied. High prices due to location and reputation. Also you will have to order two hot chocolates if you want to share, a single is 12 euros even thou it could serve two. read more

This place is way OVERRATED! Got charged €21 for a small bowl of strawberries that the waitress snuck in by asking if we want a side of strawberries (never disclosed the price). Waited in line for 25 minutes. Waitress gave priority to larger tables, and had me and my wife waiting way too long. My check was €46 for hot chocolate (was okay) and two croissants, and the cancer curing strawberries of course. Dishonest and descriptive practices here, tourist trap and SCAM!! read more

I enjoyed the hot chocolate, fruit cake, and mimosa at Carette. The hot chocolate was rich and velvety, almost like drinking a liquid dessert. The fruit cake was moist, flavorful, and filled with real fruit. The mimosa added a light, bubbly touch, perfectly complementing the sweetness of the hot chocolate and the fruitiness of the cake.
