Found this gem deep in monks corner on the way to the DMV. It's tucked in the back a bit but we found it quite easy. There was only one other table in there besides us which can sometimes be worrying. The decor was very true to the Jamaican culture but definitely could use an update to liven the place. We ordered 2 jerk chicken meals and Miss Shareen brought the food out to us. She was very nice and checked on us. The collard greens were delicious and cooked perfectly! Everything was flavorful, chicken was tender and plantains were juicy. I feel like this place could do really well in a better location to draw in more customers because their food is so good. Went for lunch so the wife could have her beloved Coconut Shrimp, she said they were excellent. The music at this place was nonstop, but very enjoyable to us vintage souls. I had the jerk chicken but I wanted the jerk chicken salad, I guess they were out of salad. Our waitress was very accommodating and nice, I believe she may have been one of the owners. Only to find out the order was at the other CD IN NORTH CHARLESTON. I don't know what she said to my husband, but I asked you to wait and order now? With a Swift NO! We are never coming here again. I don't appreciate the way spoke to me. I reached out to the company for reparation. Omar response within minutes and offered me a free meal. Will you believe the same phone issue happen again. But Worst! I called, the woman said, "Caribbean Delights, please HOLD. " I could hear the restaurants in the background for the 6 minutes and 36 seconds I was on the HOLD. Once the woman returned, I asked, " What time do you close?" "We close at 10 pm, but we take our LAST ORDER at 9:30 pm." I asked to speak to Omar. I asked him was that the young woman working the counter yesterday. Omar stated he couldn't release her identity!! At this point, he missed customers service 101. Please, do yourself a flavor (ha!) and try this restaurant. If you're looking for authentic Caribbean cuisine, you don't need to look any further than Caribbean Delight. A local business owner pointed us to this restaurant, and I'm very glad she did. I was intrigued to see how well the restaurant executed on curry goat. They executed VERY WELL! The goat was tender and delicious. The curry contained the right amount of heat for a "non-spicy dish." The cabbage side elevated the meal. The rice with beans was not dry or bland. (I would venture to say they provide a little too much of this, but not by sacrificing the amount of the other items!) The plantains were decent. The chef was very friendly and made sure that we had everything we needed. This food is amazing. Called in my order with ease and it was ready within ten minutes. Customer service was great as well. That oxtail meal was very well flavored and a lot was packed into the box. Outside there are a few tables on a small patio. As to the food...delicious! I had a combination plate of curried goat and jerk chicken. Along with this, it cams with some brown rice and plantains. The flavor was so perfect. You certainly won't leave hungry. I tried the Carribean fruit cake. To be honest, it was good, but not great. As the server warned me, it is very different from traditional fruit cake. The texture was very dense and had a subtle fruity taste. It wasn't bad, just not to my taste. I throughly enjoyed this hidden gem. I had been craving Caribbean food, so not expecting to find authentic I was ready to settle for what I could get. I went back out to ask my husband which sides he wanted with his oxtails and to tell him about the great happy hour specials. I returned and couldn't decide if I wanted Curry or Jerk chicken. The server was so patient and sweet. She answered all my questions and even suggested that I get a combo plate. Problem solved. The food came out so fast my husband hadn't even finished his drink. This restaurant was supposed to open at 11 am so I decided to do a call ahead no rush. I called at 11:10 am to place an order for a meat combo(listed on the menu by Yelp). I left my card in there by mistake and by that evening someone who worked there had clearly ran up a number of charges on shein and romwe. What made it even worse was that I called them shortly after seeing these charges and a young man stated that he did not see the card. So i waited until the next day and called again and the young lady stated that the card was on the register and it was sitting there all evening. So someone was lying.
