As soon as I got home I changed into a stained shirt and devoured 3 crab claw clusters dripping with garlic-herb butter with my bare hands. This is not a food I eat in front of others. Took 10 minutes at the counter to place an order, then it took another 40 minutes to get our food. I have never eaten in any restaurant where you could not get a cup of water. You had a choice of a soda for $4.50 with 1 refill, bottle of smart water for $3.50, fruit punch $4.50 or Palmetto juice for $4.00, a cup of ice is $2.00. My fish sandwich was supposed to have lettuce and tomato and tartar sauce. The fish was mainly breading, sparse lettuce and two(2) little pieces of diced tomato. Photo attached. The baked Mac and cheese was mealy and I did not eat it. My husband's fried fish was just like mine, mainly breading. His garlic broccoli was excessively garlicy. The tartar sauce was the worst we have ever tasted. The music was some sort of rap and it was blaring. The cheapest plastic forks and brown bathroom paper towels. What a gem! The food is amazing! The hospitality was wonderful! The restaurant is clean! I ordered the Fried Whiting Fish dinner that came with crab rice (delicious), and two sides. I chose Mac & Cheese (superb) and yams (sooo good). My sister ordered the fish dinner as well with Garlic Broccoli (just okay) and Garlic potatoes (excellent). Then we SHARED 12 stand alone shrimp (Exceptional). It took about 20 minutes for our food to arrive because it's cooked fresh but it was worth it. We loved our food so much we ordered sides to go with our leftover fish and shrimp!! And there is more! We are in town for a family celebration. Had to go to the airport to pick up my son. He was hungry, so we went BACK! He ordered the Shrimp Dinner with Mac & Cheese, yams and a house salad. The house salad was incredible! This is a great place for takeout seafood. There are a 2 small tables inside, so I suggest you order for takeout. The prices are moderate, which is to be expected for these types of seafood restaurants, however, when I receive my food, I noticed that this looked much better than other seafood places that I have tried. The flavor was great, not too salty, however the crab meat with sticking to the shell on almost all of the crab legs, which makes me question the freshness of the seafood, perhaps? To start off there's not many parking spaces by the entrance and It is a very small place where you can only find a table for two and a small couch. It is basically a to go place. My son and I stumbled into Geechie after building a serious hunger cruising the Pitt street bridge. It's well hidden and not well marked on the street but completely worth finding. 1. This ain't fast food. So plan on taking a few minutes to decide and needing at least 20 minutes for the food to cook. This ain't no Popeyes.
