I really like this coffee shop. This is my go to coffee location if I have a few minutes to sit down and enjoy my coffee. The baristas are always pleasant the coffee and snacks are good. My only complaints are that their small parking lot is frequently impossible to find a space in. They also run out of food items frequently. No matter what time of day you go in. I also dislike that the company itself has taken away many of my favorites from the menu over the years. read more

I love Caribou Coffee. My personal favorite is their Caribou Blend (black coffee) or their iced Campfire Mocha in the summer. If you like pastries, try their brownies or chocolate croissants. They are very very slow. Using up ordering app is useless because they will not bring it up curbside. I sat there for over 10 minutes before I went inside and found the drink sitting cold on the table. They don't pay attention to when people drive up I don't think they actually use that system. One of the things about working from home is - you get reeeeaaaally bored being at home all the time. Hence, the coffee shop frequent flier miles! Now, I'm always a fan of a place that has food, too, and this place has some good pastries and DEFINITELY some yummy coffee. I try and get out of the house for a full day 1-2 times a week, and this is one of my go-to spots. Its relatively small, but comfortable. I really like the fact that I can go in wearing something completely professional, OR just plan ol' shorts and a tee- and no one will give you a second judgey look. I like the building and location - close enough to the UNC campus to be bike-able, but far enough away that every seat isn't filled with studying students. There's also a community room that can be used for gatherings, or for seating when it's not reserved. I was excited for my first pumpkin latte of the season, but when I opened the lid - no foam! Sad, sad me. It tasted fine, though, and I don't usually feel I can blame chain places for less-than-perfect drinks. read more

The points that any college student are looking for are all here: service is decent, seating fairly spacious (even the outside tables), nice selection of tea (unsweetened mango black tea was great albeit VERY light on the mango) compared to your sterile corporate competitor, Starbucks (I hate their tea flavors!). On the downside, this place smells like a bathroom and coffee mixed together. I don't know if eau de toilette was taken seriously here but it's disgusting. I had to sit outside and wave away bugs because I couldn't fathom sitting inside with that smell for more than 5 minutes. Additional note - wifi is fairly crappy IMO. I ended up alternating with FedEx's next door because it kept cutting in and out (and I know it was not my computer's problem!) read more

I love Caribou! This place is always packed. There are always people here with laptops, or people meeting for coffee, or everything in between! I am partial to their almond milk latte with sugar free caramel flavoring. It is beyond delicious! It's the only thing I've tried, but I love it so much I don't feel the need to try anything else! The parking can be dicey and it is on the corner of an intersection so the entry and exit is also problematic at times. They offer an order ahead app which is great if you are short on time. They also have a good selection of breakfast type items if you need a bite to eat, like muffins and breakfast sandwiches. Overall I like the vibe here and love their lattes! read more

The place is easy to find. Parking was not so easy. You have to get creative with parking or wait for someone to leave. It's nice and cozy inside, however, the back room is really cold. It can get pretty loud in there, but it's a great place to chat or hang out. If you don't mind the noise, then it can be a good study spot too. Caribou coffee is pretty solid all-around, and this location is no exception. The coffee is tasty and prepared well, there is ample seating, and the baristas are always super friendly. There is a decent amount of seating, though not as much as at the location in the heart of Franklin Street. However, there are numerous couches and chairs inside the cafe, as well as a number of seats and tables out front as well. All in all, this is a solid spot to sit back and get some work done or read a book while sipping on a tasty caffeinated beverage or nibbling on some baked goods. The only downside is that the parking lot is a bit cramped, and thus there is often a lack of open spots on a first go around. People do get a bit creative with the park jobs in front, however, and the abandoned drive-through is always utilized to its maximum potential. I do often wonder, however, where people park when all the spots are taken and none open up quickly (the essentially deserted Pizza Hut a couple doors down?). read more

I like that this Caribou Coffee has parking, and is relatively spacious, with useable seating both inside and outside. The only downside is that the parking in question is incredibly hard to find at peak hours: the lot fills up quickly, making hanging out here incredibly hard unless you're lucky enough to get a parking spot. read more

I like that this is a chain, b/c there's a chance I can avoid Starbucks when I'm in another state or travelling. The drinks are pretty decent, and they have a nice selection. It's not the best coffee, and if you're in the area there are a lot of better places. On the bright side, the pastries are good and the seating is great. Also, it's not too expensive. Probably the best coffee shop I've ever been to. They actually give you a choice of milk and dark chocolate for your mocha. Both the turtle and campfire mochas are scrumptulescent. Amber is the best. So patient with my complicated order. I normally have a modification for every box so I love it here. If in paying $5 for a coffee, I'm gonna have it EXACTLY the way I want it. I evacuated due to Hurricane Irma, so while here in Chapel Hill, I HAD to get Caribou! We have them back in the midwest, but we do not have any in Charleston-so stopping was a must! I came in, and everyone was VERY nice! Savannah was the cashier, who was very knowledgeable on products. I can't remember the barista's name, but she had blonde hair-very nice as well. Kimberly, she looked like the manager, needs to learn how to smile. I'm not from the area, so I asked where some good locations are for food, and as Savannah was asking another girl, I felt the death stares from Kimberly were a little harsh. Caribou is a great coffee chain. They're less hectic than Starbucks and offer some specialty espresso drinks. When we go to NC every fall, I always get the campfire mocha with dark chocolate. It is basically a s'mores hot chocolate with coffee in it...yum!! I've had their breakfast sandwiches, too, and they're about what you expect from a coffee chain. Definitely a fan. read more

Caribou Coffee has been consistently amazing to me. The employees have always been very helpful, asking questions to make sure my coffee comes out great. They always have smiles on their face too. Recently I had a really bad experience at Starbucks, and i'm actually kind of grateful it happened, because now i'm a loyal customer to Caribou. They have way better coffee, and much better service. Those two things are important when you're dishing out $5 for a cup of coffee, and this place does it right. Their chocolate croissants are so flavorful and delicious. The campfire mocha is my favorite drink, it's like a rich melted smore in a cup, it's amazing. Keep up the good work Caribou! read more

I really enjoy coming here. The food and coffee are both really great and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I remember a few months ago I had sat down in one of the comfy chairs and once I finished I realized I was having trouble getting up (oh the joys of having terrible ankles). I hate raising my voice, so I ended up calling the store's phone and explaining the situation. The person that answered was very sweet and understanding. They came over to where I was sitting and helped me up and when I apologized about taking up their time they insisted that I shouldn't apologize and that it was no trouble at all. This coffeeshop is easy to find, however parking can be slightly complicated due to limited space. Staff was extremely friendly/knowledgable as some of their lingo is different (i.e.: northern lite) They also offer other options such as smoothies. However, I went to Caribou around 1, after the morning rush and was disappointed to see just how dirty everything was. The floors and tables were left a complete mess. It's pretty large, good conference room, not far from campus, but far enough that it's not overcrowded by students, and good coffee. Pros: The people. I love that caribou emphasized getting to know the customers. If you're a regular, usually 2-4 times at any caribou and they know my name and drink. I like this caribou because it's by the University, so I see friends from college, but again, it's not packed all the time. Cons: It can get a bit loud in their. Their parking lot is decent, but when crowded can run out of space. Overall: If you like people and the social aspect, the baristas are great to get to know, there's lots of regulars that are cool (I've randomly introduced myself and gotten to know a handful)and it's close to campus. Grab n'Go parking is great- otherwise, parking is limited. Coffee quality? Just ok. No Splenda, instead there's stuff packaged in a yellow packet resembling Splenda. I've been there at 3 pm when no Medium blend coffee was on tap, only dark roast,which I don't drink.It was take it or leave it so I left. I only go there in a time pinch. This is my favorite go-to chain coffee shop. I used to frequent it all the time when I was a UNC student. The perks program is VERY generous compared to other places and even though I'm not a frequent flier anymore (live too far away now), I still get perks on a regular basis even with my infrequent visits. In my opinion, the coffee is much better quality than similar chain options (think Starbucks) and the espresso drinks (lattes, mochas, etc.) much more balanced & flavorful without the sugar overload. The iced crafted press with a flavor shot is my signature drink and it's consistent every time which is one of the most important factors (if not THE most important) to me in choosing a coffee shop- one of my biggest pet peeves is when you order the same drink at the same place multiple times and it's never the same- I know what I like and if I've had it before, I want to be able to reliably order it again! Caribou hits it out of the park. I give it 4/5 stars only because in the coffee shop category, even Caribou (being a chain shop) can't really compare to the independent, locally owned coffee shops of which there are MANY superior options in the area (like caffe driade in chapel hill, cup of joe in hillsborough and cocoa cinnamon in durham). read more

I've been coming here for years. The parking lot has always been too small, with nine spots reserved for limited time parking, yet they've never made a big deal out of staying longer in one of those spots when the lot got too full. There is really no where else to park. Now there's a new manager (Michael, bald head) who has decided to enforce the time rules. Gave me a hard time today when I stayed too long in a ten minute spot--even though I was seated next to a window to keep an eye out for a longer spot, and even though I was honest and identified myself when he went through the clientele looking for people parked in the short time slots (something they NEVER used to do). I love the coffee, but Michael was a jerk to me. Reconsidering coming here again. UPDATE: minutes after writing this review, Michael called in a tow truck to remove people. Lowered rating from two stars to one. AWFUL. read more

The best thing about this Caribou Coffee is that the employees are SO FRIENDLY. I always feel just a little bit more cheerful after interacting with them. Caribou also has a large open indoor area with lots of plugs and free wifi so you can work or hang out. The friendliness of the staff and the coffee shop's spaciousness are its advantages over Cafe Driade up the street (which has better coffee and an immensely better outdoor area). read more

It was my first time to Chapel Hill. I wanted coffee. I had no car. I walked here in the cold, hoping they had almond milk for my latte. Nope. no almond milk- but that's ok...soy milk they had. The coffee was pretty good. Not the best latte ever, but I've had worse. Kinda hoped the place was more of an offbeat coffeehouse, but it reminded me of a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I Love the hot chocolate here -- it is the best if you are a hot chocolate aficionado - especially the dark hot chocolate - and hot chocolate that is not too sweet, but I had an unfortunate experience with the manager related to parking. There are a lot of students who may stay for a while, but when there were no parking spots in the regular stay parking and only grab-n-go, and I had to parking the grab-n-go, and the manager would not let me stay at all. I felt like I was being thrown out, when I rarely have time to even spend a few minutes. I said I would move the car when another spot opened up, but he had no flexibility. Clearly a parking problem and a manager problem. Other staff (other than the manager) are very nice, and used to always know what I ordered, until I stopped going there on principle after that experience. read more

I've been a regular here since I moved to the area about 6 months ago. The staff are friendly, there are plugs if you know where to look, and there is almost always a seat to be found somewhere. The only major drawback has been that it was sometimes hard to find a parking spot. Well, this Caribou has responded to the parking shortage by essentially punishing people who spend more than 30 minutes in the cafe. They have now designated a whole row of parking as short term. I get it. It sucks when people go in, buy a small drip, and sit for 8 hours, but I'm certainly not that sort of customer. About half the time I attempt to come to this Caribou, I can't find a single open spot except those designated for short term use. It is slightly maddening to pull into a Caribou and see literally 7 open parking spots that no one can use, and two other people idling in their cars waiting for a long-term spot to open. At that point, I just leave. Very recently I would have given this Caribou five stars, but the decision made by management to make it even more difficult to park is too much. We (my wife and I) have historically come here a lot, but now we're looking to find someplace new. read more
