    Sancocho
    Bertha C.

We ordered from Caridad on a Saturday night because my sister didn't feel like cooking for the whole family. We were all excited to enjoy a nice meal together, but the chicharrón de pollo was a big letdown. It was so salty that none of us could eat it. My niece, nephew, parents, friend, sister and I all tried, and it was just impossible. We ended up throwing it away, which was really disappointing. We also waited a long time for it and after an hour, they brought the wrong ones. We ordered the bone ones and they brought the boneless. The rest of the food was much better. The sancocho was actually the star of the night. My dad loved it, and when I tried it, it was flavorful and delicious. The pork mofongo and white rice were also tasty and well prepared. It's just frustrating that the chicharrón de pollo, which is usually something we all enjoy, was so oversalted that it took away from the experience. I'm hoping this was just an off night because the other dishes showed they can make really good food.

Amazing drinks they made me a mocktail that was not on the menu. Customer service was exceptional!

    Calamari ($16)

Great ambiance but I got the $16 calamari and it was gross. The service was fair and staff was friendly. Food pictured not even edible. They did refund me but I was too disappointed to order anything else.

Best service. Victor was exceptional, very attentive and also making sure we were great

Came here with a large group for dinner. The restaurant was able to accommodate us right away and placed us in the back area. Interior was lovely and colorful, with luxe touches of greenery, as well as flowers. There was also an expansive and beautiful looking upstairs area. I really wanted to try the Picalonga Platter and thankfully was able to find someone to share it with. This was plated impressively, consisting of Longaniza sausage, salami, pork cracklings, fried beef strips, fried cheese, and tostones, topped with pickled red onion and peppers. I enjoyed the Pork Cracklings, Sausage, Fried Cheese. The pork was perfectly crunchy and full of flavor. Sausage was juicy and well seasoned. Fried cheese was satisfyingly crisp. Tostones were just okay. They were not thin enough for my liking, but tasted better with the garlic sauce. I was not a fan of the beef strips, because it was way too tough and wasn't that flavorful. Service was pretty good, but there was some miscommunication on the orders. Overall, the waitress was friendly and did her best. This place served Dominican cuisine, but I found the menu to be very Americanized, so don't think I would return.

Been going here since I was a child and before it used to be crowded with guests, but nowadays it seems it's mostly focused on take-out since the inside is empty. The food is still good if you are craving Dominican good. One thing I did notice is that they open around 11am and that's late especially since they used to open earlier and offer breakfast. Not sure why, but it's not the same as it used to be. However, still get food here, just don't expect a full restaurant of guests.

Wow, what a delicious drink! I don't regret coming here with my family and enjoying the service. Thank you, Amaurys, for your excellent service. Arelys is my favorite waitress!

Both of the below entrees came with rice and (a very small portion of) plantain. *Roast Pork: I assume this was pernil. It had a nice balanced seasoning that was gently savory and went well with the rice. Not a particularly "wet" dish, don't expect a lot of sauce. *Chicken Stew: They gave us two large drumsticks of chicken stew. The marinade / sauce is VERY lightly flavored and I wish the seasoning could be stronger / more interesting. This is not the best Dominican food I ever had but I did appreciate the homey charm and the very low prices. For two servings of roast pork and one serving of chicken stew we paid $40 flat!! It was enough to serve our group of four. I don't know how many other places in Hell's Kitchen or other well-visited parts of Manhattan would be this affordable.

Walked into Margon Restaurant in Midtown and instantly felt like I found one of NYC's secret cheat codes. Small space, big flavors, zero nonsense. The kind of place where you're elbow-to-elbow with strangers but everyone's united by one thing... serious hunger. Ordered the Cuban sandwich -- pressed, crispy, loaded with roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. One bite in and I stopped talking... which never happens. This thing didn't just deliver... it showed up early and over-prepared. Then came La Bandera Dominicana Braised beef swimming in savory gravy, yellow rice piled like a mountain, black beans doing their thing, and sweet maduros sitting on top like the victory flag. Simple. Comforting. Dangerous... because now I want it every week. Place gets busy, gets loud, gets chaotic... but it moves like a well-oiled machine. Years of experience and zero attitude. Just good people making great food. In a neighborhood full of tourist traps, this hole-in-the-wall is throwing haymakers. Sometimes the best escape in NYC isn't a rooftop... It's a Cuban sandwich and a plastic tray. And honestly... I'd pick that every time. #nycfood #hiddennyc #midtowneats

Everyone agreed with my suggestion to eat Latin American food and we made a reservation at Buena Vista, not far away from our hotel and also not far from the theater. We came over a bit early, around 5:15 and were immediately seated. We were immediately impressed by the business model. It is a melange of Latin American and Iberian faire with exquisite curation. Their cocktails were absolutely delightful, I had a Pantalones en Fuego, others had an exquisite margarita with passion fruit flavor and a Daiquirí de Fresa, just amazing. Then we ordered interminable Hors d'oeuvres. Their ham croquetas and mushroom croquetas were the rage, as well as the tostoncillos ibéricos and ceviche limeño, The main courses followed, a paella valenciana for two, the magret de pato, a delicious duck dish, and a grilled Argentine parrilla. Not bad for four people. Dessert included churros and tres leches. And of course, a bottle of a great Verdejo. Service was just flawless. We had several staff members all contributing to making our Father's Day evening special. All around us it was festive, with plenty of well dressed Spanish speakers in several tables, and the accents of a half a dozen Spanish speaking countries. Plenty of gringoes too. A beautiful collection of diversity. We left happy, ready to see "Oh Mary" and wanting to return
